Chapter 207: Xu Shun Resumes Normal Walking and Wants to Open a Shop

Li Mai nodded. "Do you think the saying 'money can make the devil turn the millstone' was just something people made up out of boredom? No, it's something that has been summarized from the experiences of many generations."

Zhou Quan nodded, "Yes, I agree!"

Li Mai chuckled twice at him, and then she couldn't help but laugh herself!

She was happy that her assets had increased.

The newly purchased mansion is not far from the Lu family's residence, and the family said they would move out within a month.

Li Mai and Zhou Quan agreed, saying they weren't in a hurry to use it, and the two elders thanked them.

They were relieved to have such a straightforward buyer.

When the two returned to the mansion, it was already a quarter past noon.

It's definitely too late to cook the fish now.

Li Mai and Zhou Quan put the fish in a basin and asked the housekeeper to arrange for them to eat fish that evening.

After finishing their meal, the two of them drove the horse-drawn carriage with Zhuzhu directly to Xujia Village.

Xu Shun and Zhou Xing were very happy to see them arrive, and Zhou Xing immediately hugged Zhuzhu and kissed her several times.

"Zhuzhu, you've grown taller again in just a few days," Zhou Xing said with a smile.

"Your aunt has grown even more beautiful in just a few days," Zhuzhu said to Zhou Xing with a smile.

Li Mai took a closer look at Zhou Xing and, sure enough, she noticed that Zhou Xing was indeed a little prettier than when she saw her in January.

Perhaps this is why a good mood can make your skin look several years younger!

Upon entering the house, Zhou Quan placed the gifts he had bought for the Xu family elders inside and inquired about their health.

Both of them smiled and said that things were fine, and there were no more worries now. They just took care of Dongdong and taught Nannan to read every day.

Old Master Xu was literate.

Zhou Quan and Li Mai chatted with them for a while before going out into the courtyard. Xu Shun, having heard they had arrived, had already come out of the workshop in the south wing.

Now he no longer needs a wheelchair and walks with a cane.

Li Mai asked Xu Shun to go back inside, and she helped him look at his leg.

After removing the wooden board, she used silver needles to perform a series of examinations. Once she confirmed that everything was normal, Li Mai asked him to try stepping on the ground.

At first, Xu Shun said he didn't feel anything, but after stepping on the ground for a while, he said his blood vessels had returned to normal.

It's true, this leg hasn't touched the ground in a long time.

"Does the spot that was hurting before still hurt?" Li Mai asked Xu Shun.

Xu Shun shook his head. "It doesn't hurt anymore."

“Then walk a few more steps and take a look,” Li Mai said.

Xu Shun walked around on the ground for a while to make sure he was alright. Li Mai then took his pulse and confirmed that there was nothing wrong, which put Li Mai at ease.

"Alright, brother-in-law can walk normally now, but try not to do any strenuous work or lift heavy things for the next two weeks," Li Mai instructed.

Xu Shun agreed.

The two elders had just followed Zhou Quan out into the courtyard. Seeing Xu Shun walk out of the house on his own without a cane, they were relieved. It seemed that their third son was alright.

When Dongdong and Nannan saw that their father's leg was healed, they happily jumped around Xu Shun with Zhuzhu.

Xu Shun smiled as he looked at the three happy children, then turned to Zhou Quan and Li Mai, "Xiao Quan, Xiao Mai, thank you."

Li Mai smiled and said, "Brother-in-law, there's no need to thank us. We're doing this all for my eldest sister's sake. Only when you're well can my eldest sister be well."

Xu Shun smiled and glanced at Zhou Xing, then gently hummed in agreement. "Yes, I know. I still need to say thank you. By the way, please take the wheelchair back with you when you go back. After I stop using it, your older sister wrapped it in a sheet and put it inside the house."

Li Mai responded.

Zhou Quan and the Xu family elders sat on small stools in the yard, watching the three children play.

"By the way, brother-in-law, are you planning to continue selling from a stall or open a shop?" Zhou Quan asked Xu Shun.

"Let's open a shop. It'll be more convenient, and your sister can go too. It's not appropriate for her to go outside." Xu Shun also planned to rent a shop to sell bamboo weaving. After all, he had some money after the family split and planned to rent a shop to sell bamboo weaving.

“But I still don’t know which street to rent a shop on. I’ll go out and take a look tomorrow,” Xu Shun said.

Zhou Quan and Li Mai exchanged a glance and said with a smile, "We've chosen for you. Xiao Mai and I went to buy two shops at noon. One is for you to use, and the other is for Xiao Lin to use when he opens a furniture shop in the future."

Xu Shun was taken aback. "You bought it?"

Zhou Quan nodded, "Okay, I'll buy it. My brother-in-law can rent it from me, or if you want to buy it, I'll transfer it to you at the original price."

Xu Shun and Zhou Xing exchanged a glance, then asked Zhou Quan, "Which street?"

“On the street where Jin Yu Ge is located, it’s not far from Doctor Niu’s clinic; the two shops are next to each other,” Zhou Quan said.

"That street looks nice. How much did you buy it for? Was it expensive?" Zhou Xing asked.

"Six hundred taels per room, two floors. If you want to use it, the second floor can be used as a storeroom," Zhou Quan said.

Xu Shun looked at Zhou Xing questioningly.

Zhou Xing nodded, "Sure, are you two willing to sell to us?"

Zhou Quan chuckled, "Big sister, we were originally going out to look at shops for you. It just so happened that Manager Bai from the brokerage said both shops were for sale, so I went to take a look. The location looked good, so I quickly bought them. There's also a mansion, which belongs to the same family, so we bought them together. If others knew, we might not have gotten a chance."

"So you must have spent a lot of money?" Zhou Xing asked.

Zhou Quan nodded, "A little over two thousand taels!"

The mansion was originally priced at 1,500 taels, but when it was discovered that they were buying two shops together, they were given a 100-tael discount, and the house was purchased for a total of 2,600 taels.

Shopkeeper Bai had made a good profit from this deal, so he was naturally very happy and quickly completed the formalities for them.

"Then let your brother-in-law come to you tomorrow, take a look, choose a shop, and we'll buy it. We can tidy it up and open a bamboo weaving shop." Zhou Xing now has more than two thousand taels of silver, and she has decided to buy the shop.

Actually, she didn't even need to go to see it; just hearing the location told her it was a good location and worth buying.

“Sure, actually, big sister, if you need money, you don’t have to buy it. We don’t need it there either, you can just use it directly,” Li Mai said with a smile.

Zhou Xing waved her hand, "Let's just buy it. If we rent it, you definitely won't have to pay rent."

After saying that, Zhou Xing looked at the Xu family elders, who quickly nodded in agreement. "Yes, Xiao Quan, your eldest sister is right. They intend to run the shop long-term. With the money they have now, they should buy it. This will help them accumulate some wealth for their children."

Zhou Quan nodded, "Okay, then tomorrow, brother-in-law, come with me to complete the formalities and put the land deed in your name."

"Okay, then your sister and brother-in-law will accept your kindness. When the shop opens, we'll treat your family to a good meal." Xu Shun was overjoyed; having a capable brother-in-law was truly wonderful.

"Sure!" Zhou Quan replied with a smile.
