Chapter 217 Lu Qian seems to like your sister

"Don't be afraid, I won't give you to anyone else, and I won't let anyone hurt you." Li Mai comforted her and helped her downstairs.

Nanling hummed in agreement. "Xiaomai, I'm hallucinating. I'm actually thinking about that person, and I even heard him calling me. I must have drunk too much."

"Sigh, I'll never drink with anyone again."

Li Mai glanced back at Yu Ze indifferently. This man was indeed the head of the Yu family.

Upon hearing Nanling's words, Yuze helplessly watched her leaning against Limai's back. At that moment, he wished he could just carry her downstairs.

However, he could sense that Li Mai was a strong person.

Martial arts practitioners are very sensitive to the strong; that woman's glance at them just now was a warning.

Nan Yu went to inspect business in several nearby towns this morning in place of Nan Ling, and told Nan Ling to rest at home for a few more days.

When they got off, Zhou Quan had already gone to the backyard to hitch up his own carriage and brought it out. After Li Mai and Nan Ling got into the carriage, he and Yun Chang sat on the carriage shaft and headed to Nan Ling's residence.

Yuze followed behind and stood at the entrance of the restaurant, silently looking up at the sky as he watched the departing carriage.

Yun Wang is actually the older brother of the owner of the Red Pomegranate Clothing Shop.

The girl, however, had already sensed that the other party was not simple.

Even her husband was a master.

Yu Ze never expected that such a small town would be full of hidden talents.

He just wants to get married, but it's getting harder and harder!

Putting everything else aside, with Prince Yun here, I can't just take Lingling back to the capital.

"Master, shall I go and see where Miss Nan is staying?" Yu Shan asked Yu Ze.

“Okay, go ahead!” Yu Ze nodded. “Yu Feng, you go too. See where Ling Ling lives, and see if there are any houses for sale near hers. We can offer double the price.”

"Yes, Master!" The two guards chased after the direction where Li Mai and his carriage had gone.

On the other side, Zhou Quan, who was driving the carriage, twitched his lips, showing that he was quite determined.

"Was that person just now Yu Ze, the head of the Yu family?" Yun Chang asked Zhou Quan in a low voice.

Zhou Quan nodded, "It should be!"

Yun Chang raised an eyebrow, "You came for her?"

He glanced at the carriage.

Zhou Quan nodded again, "It should be."

"If she could become the wife of the Yu family, that wouldn't be bad," Yun Chang said with a faint smile.

Zhou Quan smiled but didn't say anything. They couldn't help with this kind of thing; only Nan Ling could make the decision herself.

"Lu Qian seems to like your sister, what do you think?" Yun Chang asked Zhou Quan again.

Zhou Quan shook his head, "Our family is just an ordinary family, not worthy of a high-class family like the Lu family."

Yun Chang nodded and said nothing more.

"When are you going to find us a sister-in-law?" Zhou Quan looked at Yun Chang. This man was so concerned about other people's marriages; he wondered what he thought about his own marriage.

Yun Chang shook her head, "I haven't met anyone who makes my heart flutter."

If he had met Li Mai when she was unmarried, perhaps he could have asked her if she would be willing to be the Princess of Yun.

She got married, and they became the closest of siblings.

Apart from wheat, which touched his heart, he has never met anyone else who could make him think of marrying her.

Of course, he wouldn't tell Zhou Quan what he was thinking, otherwise his brother-in-law would hold a grudge against him.

He has always had high standards since childhood. He looks down on ordinary, vulgar women who only know how to eat, drink, dress, and fight for attention.

Zhou Quan smiled. Yun Chang's status and position dictated that his wife could not be a weak woman, so he understood him.

Inside the carriage, Li Mai helped Nan Ling sit up.

Nanling leaned against her, and suddenly, tears silently streamed down her face.

Li Mai silently wiped her clean with a handkerchief, without saying a word.

Sister Ling was probably in a semi-drunk state; perhaps she knew Yu Ze had come from his shout.

Neither of them spoke the rest of the way.

Upon arriving at the fisherman's residence, Li Mai accompanied her inside, while Zhou Quan continued to escort Yun Chang back.

Li Mai accompanied Nan Ling inside. Once inside the mansion, Nan Ling stood up straight and walked normally.

Li Mai raised an eyebrow. "You're not drunk?"

"Let's go to a private room for tea!" Nanling said to Li Mai. "Are you busy this afternoon? Could you keep me company?"

Li Mai nodded, "Okay, then I'll have Zhou Quan bring Zhuzhu over. We were originally going to take her to see the herbs, so let's bring her to your house as a guest!"

“Okay, I have lots of toys for kids at home.” Nanling’s nose tingled as she said this.

Li Mai nodded, flew away to catch up with Zhou Quan, and told him to pick up Zhuzhu when he returned.

She knew that after he saw his older brother off, he would definitely come looking for her.

As soon as Zhou Quan drove the carriage out of the street, he saw Li Mai standing by the roadside, so he quickly stopped the carriage.

"When you drop your older brother off, pick up Zhuzhu and spend the afternoon with me," Li Mai said to him with a smile.

"Okay!" Zhou Quan replied.

Yun Chang poked her head out and said, "Then let's go pick up Zhuzhu directly. I won't go back. I'll stay at his house as a guest."

"Okay!" Li Mai covered her forehead. What was she thinking? It would have been so much better to just connect Zhu Zhu directly.

When Li Mai returned, Nan Ling had already brewed a pot of tea and was waiting for Li Mai in the west wing.

She decorated this west wing room into a warm pavilion. In the summer, with the front and back windows open, one could sit on the tatami and drink tea, enjoying a clear view of the courtyard and the garden outside the back window – a cool and pleasant experience.

The two people sat cross-legged facing each other.

The aroma of tea lingered on the coffee table in the middle.

“In the past, Ming’er and Juan’er loved playing in this room the most.” After a long while, Nanling spoke.

Li Mai listened in silence; perhaps at that moment, she simply needed a patient listener to tell her story.

Ming'er and Juan'er are the children of Nanling and Yufeng.

"If Ming'er were still alive, he would be thirteen years old, and Juan'er would be ten years old. When they left this world, Juan'er was only four years old, and Ming'er was seven years old."

"Time flies, and six years have passed in the blink of an eye. During these six years, I often dream about them. When I see your daughter, I dream about my Juan'er; when I see Yuze's son, I dream about my Ming'er."

“Xiaomai, do you know, even though the Chen family is gone now, I still hate them. If I hadn’t been born into the Chen family, how wonderful it would be! My children would still be living happily in this world, like Zhuzhu and Chengcheng, how wonderful that would be!”

When Nanling said these words, the sadness in her voice and the sorrow in her eyes made Li Mai feel distressed.

"Don't be sad. Perhaps they have been reborn into a wealthy family and are now two happy little babies," Li Mai said softly, offering words of comfort.

"Is it possible?" Nan Ling looked at Li Mai with hopeful eyes and asked.
