Chapter 257 Seeing each other dislike each other

As soon as Old Yang finished speaking, the people in the room looked at him in disbelief.

The two main characters were completely petrified.

Li Mai and Zhou Quan stared at Old Yang in disbelief, then looked at Yun Chang and Xu Changhuan together. Could it be that there was something going on between them? Otherwise, why would Old Yang bring this up?

The two people who were staring at Old Yang in a daze suddenly felt two burning gazes on them. They both turned to look inside and at Zhou Quan at the same time. When they saw the scrutinizing look in the eyes of the two people, they subconsciously moved to the sides again, keeping their distance from each other.

Their mutual dislike for each other was quite obvious.

Li Mai and Zhou Quan's lips twitched, and they lowered their heads to eat.

Old Yang glanced at Xu Changhuan, then at Yun Chang, and asked in surprise, "What, neither of you has taken a liking to the other?"

Xu Changhuan chuckled at Old Yang, "Old Yang, thank you. I have great responsibilities at the moment and have no plans to get married."

Yun Chang quickly added, "Master, please don't worry about my marriage. I have plenty of other things to do."

His master knows his true identity. He might die on the battlefield any day. Why should he marry a wife?

Old Yang looked at Xu Changhuan, then at Yun Chang, and moved his lips as if to say something. But when he met Li Mai's gaze, he held back and decided to ask Li Mai privately if this matter was really not going to work out.

He's old now, and he's been lonely his whole life. He just likes to see young people in pairs, loving each other, just like he was when he was young.

When you get old, you won't have the energy, heart, or physical strength to love and cherish each other anymore.

After Old Yang's incident, the rest of the mealtime was quiet, and no one spoke.

After finishing their meal, Li Mai and Zhou Quan went back to their room and talked with Xu Changhuan for a while before preparing to go to Tianxiang Village together to check on the situation there.

Li Mai hadn't asked her older brother if he was going or not. She thought he and Elder Yang would go to rest or cultivate as before, but she saw Elder Yang and Yun Chang waiting for them in the courtyard.

"Are Big Brother and Old Yang going out too?" Li Mai asked in surprise.

Yun Chang said softly, "I have nothing to do today, let's go for a walk together!"

Old Yang also said, "I heard you're going to the bandit stronghold, I'd like to go and see it too."

Xu Changhuan: ......

Li Mai quickly explained, "Old Yang, Tianxiang Village is not a bandit stronghold. Never mind, you'll know once you go and see for yourselves."

"Oh, I thought it was a bandit stronghold because of the name," Old Yang quickly explained with a smile.

Xu Changhuan glanced at Yun Chang silently. As expected of master and disciple, this young master Yun had said the same thing before.

Yun Chang pretended not to notice that she was being watched and took a step forward.

Just listen to that name. Anyone who hasn't been there would think it's a bandit stronghold.

When they left, they took two carriages: one for Xu Changhuan and Li Mai, and another for Zhou Quan, Yun Changyang, and the other for the three of them.

Zhou Quan originally did not want to leave Li Mai's side, but because there was an outsider woman, Xu Changhuan, in his carriage, he had no choice but to avoid suspicion.

After Li Mai reassured him that she would protect herself, Zhou Quan quietly got into Yun Chang's carriage.

As they traveled from Yongzhou City to Tianxiang Village, Zhou Quan and Yun Chang told Old Yang about the Xu family's past, including how the name Tianxiang Village was derived from the Xu family's Tianxiang Pavilion.

After listening, the old man nodded. "I see. No wonder that girl seemed like a strong one. It seems I was too rude to her this morning."

"Sigh, I originally thought that the girl was very similar to my disciple in both appearance and the determination in her eyes, and I thought she could find a wife for my disciple. It seems that I was just worrying for nothing."

After the old man finished speaking, his eyes were filled with disappointment!

Yun Chang glanced at him and said, "Master, it's not that I can't find a wife, it's just that I don't want to. You don't need to worry about my marriage."

Old Yang chuckled, "Then tell me, what kind do you like? Your master will keep an eye out for you."

Yun Chang remained silent.

Old Yang gave a light hum and changed the subject to something else.

Yun Chang was secretly wondering what kind of girl she really liked.

There doesn't seem to be a specific standard; maybe I just haven't met the person I'll spend the rest of my life with yet!

Currently, he will try to get to know any girl who receives praise from Xiaomai, or any girl whose temperament is similar to Xiaomai's.

But the chief of Tianxiang Village always felt that her friendship with Xiaomai was suspicious and that she was using his younger sister.

He automatically put up a layer of defense against Xu Changhuan in his mind, which is why he subconsciously resisted Xu Changhuan when his master brought up their marriage.

An hour later, they entered the mountains.

After walking for another half an hour in the mountains, we finally arrived at a gatehouse with three large characters written on it: Tianxiang Village.

Behind the gatehouse is a winding stone path leading up the mountain.

Xu Changhuan walked ahead, and after quickly stepping on a few stones, the scenery in front of him changed, revealing a bluestone road that could accommodate two carriages traveling side by side.

"Everyone, please!" Xu Changhuan said with a smile, gesturing for them to go inside.

After Li Dong and A Jun drove the carriage inside, Xu Changhuan casually kicked a stone by the roadside, then got back into the carriage and told them to just continue along the road.

After walking for the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, they followed the mountain path uphill and downhill until they finally saw Tianxiang Village, a small village nestled in a mountain valley.
