"Mr. Yang, you should rest first. I'll go scout ahead and see where we are now," Zhou Quan instructed Mr. Yang.
Old Yang sat down against the big tree and waved his hand, "No need to bother. I'll try to contact A-Chang in a bit. You won't be able to find him even if you go out."
Old Yang could tell that he was in the woods and wouldn't be able to get out anytime soon.
Zhou Quan had no choice but to nod, sit down, and listen carefully to see if there were any other people training around him.
However, apart from birdsong and insect chirps, there were no other sounds.
Li Mai promptly handed Elder Yang a bottle of spiritual liquid, which Elder Yang drank without hesitation. He then closed his eyes, focused his mind, and used his spiritual power to locate Yun Chang.
I tried three times, but couldn't find it.
"I'll leave for a bit, first to see where I am, and then find the location of Chendu." After saying this, Old Yang disappeared.
Li Mai and Zhou Quan had no choice but to wait silently in place.
"This may be because each type of ability has its own advantages. Although Elder Yang's ability to attack is not strong, his ability to teleport using the power of plants is indeed strong," Li Mai said softly.
“Yes,” Zhou Quan nodded.
Although he is strong in both water and fire elements, he cannot be like Elder Yang. Indeed, each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Old Yang returned, his face beaming with joy. "Come on, we found it."
They reappeared near a grove of trees on the outskirts of the military camp.
They had barely appeared when they were spotted by patrolling soldiers. "Who goes there?"
The patrolmen assumed they had run out of the woods.
Zhou Quan took a few steps forward, shielding Elder Yang and Li Mai behind him. Facing the small group of people, he said, "I am the brother-in-law of the King of Yun. My surname is Zhou. Can you take us to see him?"
The man who seemed to be the squad leader thought for a moment. The report didn't mention anyone surnamed Zhou, only that someone surnamed Yang, who was the prince's master, would be coming.
"Men, lock them up! These must be spies from the Chen Kingdom." The squad leader looked at their clothes and thought he was about to make a name for himself by capturing Chen Kingdom spies.
He didn't even bother to ask what Li Mai and Old Yang's names were. Anyway, the higher-ups said it was better to arrest the wrong person than let one go.
Li Mai and Yang Lao exchanged a glance, but did not resist. They were then taken into the camp and locked in a tent.
The squad leader ordered someone to keep watch, and he quickly reported it to his superiors.
The military camp was heavily guarded, and any news had to be reported up the chain of command.
By the time Yun Chang received the news and arrested several Chen spies, an incense stick's worth of time had passed.
Upon hearing that the old man's surname was not Yang, Yun Chang assumed he was a spy from the State of Chen.
Since he had nothing else to do, he decided to go and take a look.
As he walked over, he heard soldiers scolding the people they had captured, saying, "Why did you, a woman, have to become a spy?"
Upon hearing the word "woman," Yun Chang frowned, quickly lifted the tent flap, and went inside. She saw three people sitting on a small stool, bound together.
Yun Chang's lips twitched as she met the three smiling faces.
"Your Highness, these are the three men. They are spies from the Chen Kingdom." The squad leader was trying to curry favor.
"Where's the evidence?" Yun Chang was furious with this person. What evidence did he have to conclude that she was a spy?
"They're lurking around suspiciously in the woods to the south," the squad leader said in a lower voice.
Yun Chang personally went over to untie them, saying, "Master, Xiaomai, Zhou Quan, I'm sorry, they don't recognize you."
"It's alright, it's alright. We just happened to be here to see where the prisoners are held," Li Mai said with a smile.
"This is not a place to imprison prisoners. You don't want to see that place. Let's go and pay our respects to the Crown Prince first." Yun Chang led them away.
Without his conviction, they wouldn't dare imprison people in such places. His military discipline was strict, and he did not allow them to privately imprison or torture the people of Chen or the soldiers they captured.
At this moment, the squad leader was dumbfounded. What a load of rubbish! He felt he was going to be punished for actually tying up the person the prince had been waiting for!
When Li Mai finally met the Crown Prince, she realized why her elder brother had sent her.
The prince's face was injured, or rather, the prince was disfigured.
A scar resembling an enhanced centipede runs from the glabella across the right eye and across the entire right side of the face.
The once handsome prince now looks incredibly fierce with this scar.
Moreover, the Crown Prince's eyes no longer held the gentle and refined look she had seen in the Fushou Palace; now, his eyes were filled with darkness and gloom.
However, when he looked at his older brother, his eyes would soften, but when he looked at me, they would darken again, and he would stare at me intently, as if trying to see if I would show any disgust.
Li Mai remained calm and first gave the Crown Prince a deep bow.
The Crown Prince gestured for her and Zhou Quanyang to stand up, and then glanced at them again.
Yun Chang introduced him to her master and brother-in-law.
The crown prince nodded.
When Old Yang saw that the quinoa had been delivered, he suddenly collapsed to the ground, exhausted.
Li Mai asked Zhou Quan to help him up and asked his elder brother to arrange accommodation for Old Yang so that he could rest, saying that he had used up too much spiritual energy.
Yun Chang quickly went to make the arrangements.
Inside the tent, only the Crown Prince, Li Mai, and two of the Crown Prince's personal guards remained.
The Crown Prince then spoke, his voice much gentler, "Why don't you sit down and rest for a while? I have no other injuries, just this one on my face. Can it be healed?"
Li Mai asked, "May I come closer to take a look, young lady?"
The crown prince paused for a moment, nodded, stood up from the couch, walked to Li Mai, and sat down on the stool.
