Chapter 54 Li Mai Rescues the Chicks

Zhao quickly went to the windowsill outside and took a small, chipped bowl and handed it to Li Mai. Li Mai pretended to scoop water from the sink and used her mind to summon spiritual spring water into the small bowl.

Then put the chick's head in the water bowl and let it drink the water on its own.

But the chick seemed to be dizzy at this moment, so Li Mai gently stroked the chick's neck and belly with her fingers.

This was repeated about ten times. The chick's head moved, and its beak slowly opened, as if it were sucking in water.

"Wheat, didn't you say you were full? Can you still drink water?" Zhao asked worriedly.

Li Mai smiled and said, "Mom, it's okay. Just a little bit will help it catch its breath."

The chicks drank the spring water and seemed to taste its sweetness. They slowly stretched their necks and drank a few more sips.

Then, the chick visibly perked up and raised its head to look at Limai.

Li Mai smiled, patted the little chick's head, and handed it to Zhao Shi. "Mother, the chick is still small. It seems it can't be kept in the same shed as the adult chickens. Even separating them with a fence won't work. Let's build them another nest!"

"Okay, I'll go right now!" Old Zhou had been standing outside for some time. Hearing Li Mai's words, he turned around and went to find a suitable place to build a nest for the chicks.

Summer is rainy, so we can't let the chicks get wet.

Li Mai treated the other chick in the same way.

After drinking the spring water, neither of the two chicks was in any danger.

However, even in their temporary nest, they were still too lazy to move and just lay there obediently.

Zhao watched silently.

Li Mai smiled and said, "Mom, it's alright. They just ate too much and have too much stuff in their stomachs. They haven't finished digesting it yet. They'll probably be fine after a day or two of sleep."

Zhao nodded, relieved.

She hadn't noticed these things when she fed the chicks before, and a few had died, but she never thought they might have died from overeating.

"Mom, you're amazing! You can not only cure Dad's illness, but you can also cure the chicks." Zhuzhu said admiringly, standing next to Limai who was washing her hands in the yard.

Li Mai smiled and said, "If Zhuzhu wants, she can learn medicine in the future and treat her family and loved ones."

“Okay, I want to learn!” Zhuzhu replied happily.

Li Mai laughed twice. "Sure, but the prerequisite for learning art is literacy. So, for three-year-old Zhuzhu, the main task right now is to learn more characters."

"Yes, Mother, Zhuzhu will go learn to read right away!" Zhuzhu meant what she said and ran back into the house to get her books and go to Zhou Quan to teach her to read.

Watching her little legs running happily, Li Mai chuckled again. Whether it's an adult or a child, having dreams is good; at least it gives you a direction in life.
