Li Mai smiled and said, "Of course, the eggs won't hatch. Only hens that have been stepped on by roosters lay eggs that can hatch chicks. But that smart guy knows everything except this common knowledge."
"Then, he wondered if there was something wrong with his 'tool chickens' and continued his research. However, another year passed, and he still couldn't figure it out. The eggs laid by his 'tool chickens' still wouldn't hatch into chicks. Finally, in a fit of anger, Da Congming decided to research a potion that could turn eggs into chicks."
"He thought that by using chemicals to induce hatching, the eggs would definitely turn into chicks, but he still failed. He was not willing to give up, so he went to find eggs from many other animals to soak."
"And guess what happened?" Li Mai asked with a smile.
Zhou Quan thought for a moment, "Have those eggs hatched?"
Li Mai gave him a thumbs up. "Yes, they hatched. However, the animals that hatched from those eggs all turned into bizarre and strange creatures."
"After that, even stranger things happened. The monsters seemed to grow bigger and bigger as the wind blew, and they even developed some strange superpowers, such as breathing fire, water, poison, and lightning. When the monsters grew big enough, they began to eat people and destroy the world."
At this point, Li Mai silently stopped!
"And then?" Zhou Quan frowned as he listened. Did that brilliant person unintentionally destroy that world?
"Then, the apocalypse began. Humans bitten by those animals would also turn into monsters, losing their human behavior and becoming as inhuman as animals. They might also have the superpowers of monsters."
Zhou Quan let out a soft "Ah," and then, "What happened next? Where did that clever person go? Was he eaten by the monster too?"
"No, he saw that his momentary madness had destroyed the world, and he regretted it and was in great pain. So he started researching how to eliminate those mutated monsters. Then, he developed a superpower potion to activate the superpower genes hidden in the human body, allowing humans to use their superpowers to eliminate those monsters."
These are all the reasons why the end times were formed, as explained by their teachers.
The wise man originally predicted that humanity would be able to wipe out the monsters within ten years at most. Unexpectedly, hundreds of years have passed, and the apocalypse is still the apocalypse. The monsters cannot be eliminated, and more and more humans are awakening superpowers, but the apocalypse still exists.
After listening, Zhou Quan remained silent. This was the first time he had ever heard such a story.
He wondered where she had heard this story; the things described in it were all too incredible.
He thought about it for a while but still couldn't figure it out. He turned his head and saw that Li Mai had already fallen asleep.
A smile played on his lips as he listened quietly to her soft breathing, and gradually drifted off to sleep.
Starting the next day, Li Mai stopped painting. Apart from giving Zhou Quan acupuncture and massaging his legs, she would occasionally go to the fields with Old Man Zhou and the others.
These past few days, Old Man Zhou and Mrs. Zhao have started going to the fields again. The Zhou family planted a field of wheat on a small hillside, and it will be ready for harvest in the next few days.
When Li Mai heard about harvesting wheat, she knew how to do it too. She left Zhou Tao at home to take care of things while she, Zhu Zhu, and Zhou Lei went to the fields to harvest wheat with the Zhou family elders.
Zhao was worried that she would cut her hand, so when they got to the field, she didn't want Li Mai to be harvested. She told her and Zhu Zhu to put the ones they had cut down together so that it would be easier for Old Man Zhou to chop them up later.
Li Mai saw that there weren't many left, so she followed Zhao's arrangement.
When she had free time, she would take a small hoe and dig for herbs and wild vegetables with Zhuzhu in the nearby fields.
As Li Mai was digging, she suddenly felt something hit her hoe.
Thinking it was a rock, she moved it in a different direction and continued hoeing.
Now she has her eye on a few bitter bean root herbs, and she wants to dig out the roots completely.
This whole area is like this, but unfortunately, she moved it to several different places, and each time she bumped her hoe against something.
Li Mai was puzzled, so she simply put down her hoe and started digging with her hands.
Zhuzhu squatted down next to her and copied her by digging with her hands.
The mother and daughter dug and dug, and then, hey, it was dark and looked like a jar.
"Father, Mother, it looks like there's a jar buried here," Li Mai called out to Old Man Zhou and Zhao Shi, who were working hard to harvest wheat in the field next to them.
The two men were surprised, put down their sickles, and came over.
"Dad, is this someone else's cemetery?" Li Mai needed to confirm this first; she couldn't dig up someone else's ancestral graves.
Old Man Zhou shook his head. "No, this has always been our family's hill, and this slope was passed down from our ancestors. The Zhou family's ancestral graves are on the mountain behind."
Finally, the five of them gathered together and slowly dug with small hoes. Finally, a large pit was opened, revealing the dark object, which turned out to be a jar.
However, there wasn't one, but three.
In this secluded corner on the hillside, I never imagined that someone would have buried three jars here.
Looking at the three jars, the five people fell silent.
Zhao coughed lightly and stammered, "Ahem, father, it's not three jars of silver, is it?"
After saying that, she subconsciously glanced at Li Mai and Zhu Zhu, thinking that this was probably another instance of Li Mai and Zhu Zhu's lucky streak bringing them good fortune.
"Dad, should we open the lid?" Zhou Lei asked nervously.
Old Zhou hesitated for a moment, then looked at Li Mai and asked, "Xiaomai, do you think we should open it?"
“We can open it, but you guys stay back. I’ll drive it. I’m worried you might get hurt if there’s poisonous gas or something harmful inside.”
