With the idea of taking on an apprentice in mind, Doctor Niu became even more attentive to Zhou Quan's illness. Zhou Quan lay there, and Doctor Niu examined him carefully again before finally starting to administer acupuncture.
When inserting the needles, Li Mai was asked to observe carefully and then perform the needling on these acupoints every morning for ten consecutive days to observe the reaction.
Li Mai agreed and studied diligently, memorizing which acupoints were on the target.
Old Man Zhou, Zhou Lei, Zhou Tao, and the others stood quietly to one side and waited.
Zhuzhu was being held by Zhou Tao's hand the whole time.
Seeing the needle prick Zhou Quan's leg, Zhou Tao whispered to Zhuzhu, "Zhuzhu, are you scared?"
Zhuzhu nodded, then shook her head. She felt sorry for her father, who was being pricked by so many needles.
Zhou Quan didn't feel anything and didn't know how many needles he had been given, so he would occasionally glance at Li Mai.
Li Mai thought he was scared, so she quietly reached out and took his hand that was hanging outside the bed.
Zhou Quan smiled and thought, "Xiaomai is so thoughtful. Is she worried that I'm afraid?"
After the needle was removed, Old Man Zhou stepped forward to help Zhou Quan tidy his clothes.
Doctor Niu then called Li Mai to the back room and took out the notes he had kept over the years, intending to properly teach Li Mai, his apprentice.
Li Mai smiled and only took one book, saying that she would take it back, read it thoroughly, and then come back to exchange it for another one, otherwise she was afraid that if she took too many, her master would lose them.
Doctor Niu thought it was a good idea; he was reliable and meticulous in his work. This young disciple was the last apprentice he would ever take on.
It was lunchtime, so Li Mai simply booked a table at a restaurant diagonally opposite Dr. Niu's clinic and invited Dr. Niu and the pharmacists in the clinic to eat. He also took the opportunity of Dr. Niu drinking with Old Man Zhou and Uncle Wuping to offer Dr. Niu a toast as a gesture of respect, saying that he would make up for it with braised pork another day.
Dr. Niu happily agreed, thus completing the apprenticeship ceremony and providing a witness.
His gift to Li Mai was a waist pendant worn by a first-class doctor at Dr. Niu's clinic.
His apprentices are ranked after they learn to diagnose by pulse diagnosis, with the highest being level nine and the lowest being level one. If they do well and pass their master's assessment, they can be promoted.
Several of his apprentices all carry this brand. Doctor Niu also said that several of her senior brothers are currently away practicing medicine and traveling, and she will introduce them to him when they return.
Li Mai agreed, but wondered what level of doctor her senior brothers were now.
In fact, the original owner had a memory of Doctor Niu's apprentices; she had seen them before when she came to deliver herbs.
There was someone who seemed to have argued with the original owner, but those people who were not important in the original owner's memory were only vague to her at the moment. She would only be able to match them up when she met them.
Li Mai ordered a very lavish meal, which, along with the wine, cost about 1.5 ounces.
Li Mai could tell that everyone really enjoyed the food, but they all seemed a little reluctant to spend the money.
She chuckled softly, offering no explanation.
Money is something you have to spend when you need to spend it, and you have to earn it when you need to earn it.
After leaving the restaurant, the family got into an oxcart and went to buy the things Zhao had asked them to buy. They bought almost everything except rice and flour, which Li Mai said they would buy last.
Seeing that it was past noon, she figured the people at Jin Yu Ge had finished eating and started working, so she asked Uncle Wuping to drive the oxcart to the front of Jin Yu Ge.
She told Zhou Quan to take a nap in the car, then jumped off with her book box in her arms.
One by one, they all followed suit.
Li Mai looked at them, and they looked at each other, all with the same meaning: they wanted to follow her inside to broaden their horizons.
However, this left Zhou Quan pitifully alone on the oxcart.
Li Mai smiled helplessly, "Uncle Wuping, then I'll trouble you to keep Zhou Quan company for a while."
On Friday, Ping agreed, led the oxcart to the hitching post on the street, tied up the ox, and sat on the ground in a cool spot, chatting with Zhou Quan.
I just saw Li Mai and Zhou Tao buy quite a lot of things. It seems that this daughter-in-law is really good. She is willing to use the betrothal gifts given by the Zhou family to support the family's expenses.
To be honest, Zhou Quan has been quite lucky this week, to have met such a beautiful and kind wife.
Looking at the street outside, Zhou Quan sighed inwardly. If he were a normal person, he would be the one accompanying her to talk to people right now.
As soon as Li Mai entered, Manager Cui recognized her at a glance.
"Miss Li, you've arrived. The master has been waiting for you all morning."
Li Mai smiled and said, "I'm sorry, I took my husband to see a doctor this morning. Please take me to see your wife!"
"Here it is! Let me take a look at the blueprints!"
Mrs. Fisherman was enjoying the cool shade in the backyard when she heard Li Mai's voice and came straight into the shop.
Today marks three days; she's waiting!
She had already sent someone to find the red water-patterned stones she needed, and the craftsmen were working hard to make samples of the two pieces. Although she hadn't seen the finished products yet, she knew the effect would be excellent.
Li Mai took two pieces of paper out of the box and handed them over, but did not take out the other one.
When the fisherwoman saw her actions, she raised an eyebrow and smiled, then eagerly began to look at the blueprints in her hand.
Two drawings, eight pieces of jewelry—it's perfect, even more beautiful than I imagined.
The fisherwoman was quite satisfied after glancing at it a few times.
She then glanced around at the group of people following Li Mai and asked with a smile, "Are these all your family members?"
“Yes, this is my father-in-law, my brother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and this is my daughter,” Li Mai introduced with a smile. “They were just worried about me, so they came in to check on me.”
After hearing this, Madam Yu smiled, focusing her attention on Zhuzhu, and praised, "You already have such a big daughter? The little girl is so beautiful."
