Chapter 300 Finding a Piano Teacher for Xiao Tao

The next morning, Li Mai was awakened by a rather unpleasant noise.

She opened her eyes and sat up blankly. After listening for a while, she realized it was the sound of a zither, and it must be Xiao Tao playing the zither.

Hmm!

Li Mai rubbed her forehead and lay down to sleep again, but she couldn't fall asleep.

Zhou Quan wasn't inside either, so she simply went into her spatial dimension, wandered around for a while, drank a bowl of spiritual spring water, and then sat down to cultivate.

This has been her daily routine for the past few days.

Since entering her third month of pregnancy, she has experienced no discomfort. Her appetite has increased, and she can drink a bowl of spiritual spring water without any adverse effects.

After finishing her cultivation, Li Mai left the space and saw Zhou Quan already sitting at the table inside the room, with the breakfast he had brought back on the table.

"Have you washed up?" Zhou Quan asked her.

Li Mai nodded and washed up in the space.

While the two were eating together, Zhou Quan said helplessly, "Were you woken up by Xiao Tao's piano playing?"

Li Mai smiled and said, "It's alright, the child is just enjoying it, let her play!"

“Today I’ll go see if her master is willing to teach her!” Li Mai said with a smile.

"Who is it?" Zhou Quan asked curiously.

“I was introduced to a lady by Sister Yu. She runs her own music hall and teaches some young ladies in town to play the zither to relieve their boredom. But I heard that she only accepts young ladies from wealthy families. I wonder if our Xiao Tao would accept her. I’ll bring a dress and visit her today!” Li Mai said.

“Okay, I’ll take you there. Do you want to bring Xiao Tao?” Zhou Quan asked.

"Let's not bring them yet. If they refuse, Xiao Tao will be very upset. If this won't work, we can ask them in another town another day."

Li Mai said softly, "We'll look for this one first, just because it's close by in this town and more convenient."

"Okay, got it!" Zhou Quan replied.

After they went to the shop together, Li Mai told Zhou Tao and Zhou Heng to tidy up the shop first, as she and Zhou Quan were going out to run some errands and meet a friend.

Before leaving, Li Mai also took a very beautiful pomegranate skirt from the shop.

After they left, Zhou Tao, Zhou Heng, and a few waiters huddled together and whispered, "Who are our young master and madam going to see?"

Zhou Tao shook her head. "I don't know either. Maybe it's a friend. My sister-in-law has made a lot of friends since she opened her shop."

Zhou Heng nodded and went to fetch water. He first wiped the floor and then the counter, while Zhou Tao led them to organize the goods. The group got busy.

At this time, the embroiderers also arrived, bringing mooncakes for them. They said that they had made some at home last night and brought a few for their employer.

Zhou Tao accepted the gift on behalf of her sister-in-law and thanked the other sisters-in-law.

She always addressed the embroiderers as her sisters-in-law.

Li Mai and Zhou Quan arrived at the northernmost courtyard in the north of the town.

This place is surrounded by woods and there are no other houses around. You can often hear the sound of a zither coming from the courtyard. There is a sign for a music hall hanging on the gate.

Some say this is a brothel, while others say it's a place where only the daughters of wealthy families in town are taught to play the zither.

Anyway, the townspeople had mixed opinions about the place, but Mrs. Yu and Mrs. Qi were very good friends.

Madam Qi was around thirty years old, with a beautiful face, but her eyes held a heroic spirit, and she was also a skilled martial artist.

Li Mai never saw a man at her place, only the young ladies who respectfully called her "Master" and followed her to learn the zither.

When Mrs. Qi saw Li Mai, the visitor, she was surprised. He seemed somewhat familiar, but she couldn't quite place him.

"You look familiar, but suddenly... I'm sorry, Madam," Madam Qi said apologetically to Li Mai.

Li Mai smiled, not annoyed that people didn't remember her, and introduced herself again, "My name is Li Mai. I came with Sister Yu to deliver a set of pomegranate jewelry to you before, do you remember?"

“Ah, Miss Li, I remember now, she was talking to me about Miss Li back then. I was wondering why I didn’t remember. Is this your husband?” Madam Qi looked at Zhou Quan.

Zhou Quan also bowed and said, "I am Li Mai's husband, my name is Zhou Quan, and I greet Madam Qi."

Madam Qi smiled and said, "You two are too kind. Please have a seat."

She wondered to herself, since she wasn't familiar with them, why they came to her door so abruptly, perhaps someone in her family wanted to learn the piano.

After Li Mai and Zhou Quan sat down, Li Mai said with a smile, "When Sister Yu left, she asked me to visit you on her behalf when I had time. She is busy in the capital now and can't stay here for long. She was worried that this rare friendship between us would fade."

"She finally got her revenge, so let her live as she pleases, wherever she wants. I've endured these past few months, and next year I also want to travel. I don't want to be stuck here anymore." As Madam Qi said this, she glanced at the two of them with envy.

It's clear that this young couple is a good match and must have a very good relationship.

Unfortunately, she was unlucky and met such a heartless man.

Because they weren't close, Li Mai felt awkward about prying into her privacy. When she pressed for an explanation, Li Mai simply smiled and agreed, "Yes, life is full of helplessness. We can only find reasons to make ourselves feel better and live each day happily."

“Whether you’re happy or unhappy, you still have to live through the day. Why should we live each day unhappy?” Li Mai sighed softly.

Madam Qi nodded in agreement. "So, I've figured it out. Tell me, did you come to see me today because you need something?"

“I have a younger sister who has dreamed of learning to play the piano since she was a child. In the past, because her family was not well-off, she did not dare to talk about her dream. Now that she has a piano, I want to find her a teacher to introduce her to the basics and let the child know how to play the piano. That’s when I thought of you.”
