Side Story 5: The Chen family approached Zhuzhu, wanting her to be recognized as part of their clan.

As Zhuzhu came out of the door, she saw Chengcheng coming in.

"What happened? Did you lose the medicine?" Zhuzhu asked in surprise.

"No, I told my parents about the situation, and they're worried. They wanted to invite you over for lunch so they could ask about it. My mom is already anxiously trying to contact Aunt Li," Chengcheng said helplessly.

Zhuzhu laughed when she heard this; Aunt Nan was indeed an impatient person.

"Okay, wait for me a moment, I'll go tell my senior brother."

Zhuzhu went to find Chu Yan and explained the situation. Chu Yan nodded, "Go ahead and explain things to Patriarch Yu and Madam Yu so they won't worry. I've already sent a message to your mother, so don't worry!"

"Oh, thank you, senior brother!" Zhuzhu replied, put on her cloak, and walked out with Chengcheng.

She brought one maid and one guard with her.

Upon arriving at the Yu residence, Nanling and Yuze were waiting for Zhuzhu in the outer courtyard. Seeing her arrive, Nanling quickly went to greet her and led Zhuzhu toward the warm pavilion, saying as they walked, "Zhuzhu, please tell Aunt Nan a good story about Chengcheng's situation."

"Okay, Aunt Nan and Uncle Yu don't need to worry too much. Fortunately, Chengcheng is still young and can recover. As long as he takes good care of himself for a year or two, he will have no problem having children in the future."

Zhu Zhu comforted them first. After they entered the warm room and were given a cup of warm tea, Zhu Zhu looked at the expectant eyes of the couple and explained everything to them in detail.

Throughout this time, Chengcheng sat quietly beside her, refilling her tea whenever she finished drinking it.

After Zhuzhu finished speaking, Yuze and Nanling looked at Chengcheng silently and sighed, "Chengcheng, for the next year or so, you shouldn't go out. Stay at home and let Zhuzhu take care of your health. Your father and I will handle the business outside."

“Zhuzhu said it can be made into pills. I’ll take them with me when I go out. It’s okay. My younger brother and sister are still small. It’s inconvenient for you to take them out!” Chengcheng shook her head.

"It's alright. It's time to take them out and broaden their horizons. Children need to be nurtured from a young age," Nan Ling said with a smile.

Having learned from her previous experience, Nanling would no longer let Yuze go out alone; whenever they needed to go out, they would go out together.

"Zhuzhu, if the decoction is more effective, give Chengcheng the decoction first. Also prepare the pills. If we get busy and don't have time to go back to the mansion to drink the decoction, we can use the pills instead," Nanling asked Zhuzhu.

“Okay, then let’s drink the herbal medicine for a month first.” Zhuzhu nodded in agreement.

After lunch and a short rest, Chengcheng personally took Zhuzhu to the Imperial Hospital. He stayed there in the afternoon to keep her company.

Three days later, after Chengcheng finished the three doses of herbal medicine, Zhuzhu took his pulse again and, after confirming that it was effective, prescribed three more doses. She then gave Chengcheng a bottle of spiritual liquid and told him to put it in when he went back to decoct the medicine. She instructed him to divide the bottle into three portions, using one portion for each dose.

Chengcheng accepted it and agreed.

The price of this elixir in the capital is now clearly stated: 10,000 taels per bottle. It cannot be bought anywhere else; only Imperial Physician Li has it, and she only sells three bottles a year.

She would also give it to close friends and family when they needed it. Of course, she wouldn't pay them ten thousand taels of silver. Whenever Li Mai gave someone the elixir, it was a life-saving event, and the reward was beyond what ten thousand taels could measure.

Now that Zhuzhu had given him a bottle without hesitation, Chengcheng felt grateful and excited. He felt that he must be different from others in Zhuzhu's heart.

This must have been left to Zhuzhu by Aunt Li when she passed away, but she used it for herself. He vowed to repay Zhuzhu's kindness by treating her well for the rest of his life.

For the next month or so, the two of them were basically inseparable. People in the Imperial Hospital treated Chengcheng like a son-in-law, and they got used to Chengcheng picking up and dropping off Zhuzhu every day.

Rumors are circulating in the capital that Young Master Yu's devotion has moved Imperial Physician Li's daughter, and the marriage between the two families is now a done deal.

On this day, Chengcheng happened to be in a small town on the outskirts of the city to handle some business and did not come back to pick up Zhuzhu. After finishing her shift, Zhuzhu returned to the mansion with her maids and servants, but was stopped by several people on the road outside the mansion gate.

Losin stood in front of the carriage, glaring at the group, and shouted angrily, "Who are you? Are you looking for death?"

"Young master, we are not outsiders. We are Miss Zhou's relatives. We have something to say to her. Could you please let us see her?" The man in front of them was in his forties, dressed like he came from a village, and had an honest and kind face.

Losin scoffed, "Relatives? I am our young lady's relative, how come I've never seen you before? Get lost, don't come here and claim kinship with me."

“We really are your young lady’s relatives. Our surname is Chen. May I ask if the girl sitting in the carriage is surnamed Zhou and named Zhou Zhenzhu? Her godfather is from Zhoujia Village and named Zhou Quan, right?” the man in front quickly added.

Hearing this, Zhuzhu, who was in the carriage, understood that someone from her biological father's side had come.

Zhu Zhu lifted the carriage curtain, looked at the six people in front of her, and said indifferently, "Since you have investigated my identity, it seems that you have come with a purpose?"

“Since you are my cousin Chen Tong’s child, there’s no reason why you’ve been living away from home for so many years. You should acknowledge your ancestors and return to your ancestral home.”

Zhuzhu laughed in anger at these words, "Cousin? Recognizing your ancestors? Have you forgotten how you and your father took my parents' hundred taels of silver as compensation without hesitation and left without looking back, disregarding whether I was only one year old at the time?"

Chen Jun couldn't believe it; she actually knew? He quickly said, "That's not true at all. It was that guy surnamed Zhou who wanted to take you away, that's why he said that."

Zhuzhu leaned on the carriage shaft and jumped down from the carriage. She walked step by step to Chen Jun, glanced at the people behind him, and sneered, "You may not know, but I have memories since I was eight months old, so I remember that scene very clearly."

Chen Jun's expression changed, and he subconsciously took two steps back. Zhu Zhu took two steps forward and said coldly, "Back then, you were wearing a sky-blue robe. You were the son of the clan chief, so extravagant, but you still ruthlessly took away my parents' death compensation money, without caring about my life or death. Do you still remember what you and your father said back then?"

"Do you want me to tell you every single word?" Zhuzhu asked Chen Jun calmly.

Chen Jun's face turned a liverish color.

"Get out of here and don't ever come to me again. Otherwise, the Chen family has no reason to exist. My father wasn't well taken care of in the village when he was alive. Now, what gives you the nerve to ask me to acknowledge my ancestors? Is it because I became a royal physician?"

"Give up on that idea. I won't help a single member of the Chen family. The Zhou family is my true family. My parents are Zhou Quanli and Mai, and they have absolutely nothing to do with your Chen family."

"Furthermore, if you dare to do anything to harass my family, I will personally kill you all. Get out!"

Chen Jun and the others gritted their teeth and watched expressionlessly as Zhuzhu got into the carriage and turned into the alley.

"Chief, what do we do now?" asked several of his clansmen behind him.
