Chapter 260 The Place of Rest

What are you looking for?

Xu Fan's words startled the old man, and a moment of confusion appeared in his eyes. However, this confusion did not last long, and he quickly regained his composure.

What are you looking for?

The old man in the long robe shook his head: "I don't know either."

Xu Fan struggled to suppress his anger: "You don't know either? Is this your sincerity?"

The old man in the long robe chuckled and said, "Don't worry, that place isn't too far from here. As long as you come there with me, once you enter that place, you'll naturally know what that thing is."

"good."

Xu Fan followed behind the old man, and the two soon arrived at a dilapidated factory. However, once inside, Xu Fan discovered that the place was a hidden gem.

Despite its dilapidated exterior, it is actually a spacious laboratory with several sophisticated machines inside.

The old man pointed to a door behind a bunch of machines: "This is the place. Once you go through this place, you can get to where we want you to go."

Xu Fan stopped wasting words and walked straight through the door.

Upon entering this place, Xu Fan felt a strange sense of unease.

Fortunately, having experienced a previous incident where his emotions were almost controlled, Xu Fan quickly regained his composure.

After calming himself down, Xu Fan looked around.

A red sun hangs high in the eastern sky, as if it is rising in the east, yet also about to set.

In the western sky, a full moon hung high, its silvery light spilling onto the ground like a watermark.

The pale red sunlight intertwined with the silver moonlight, as if the world before my eyes was shrouded in a thin veil.

"The sun and moon are in the same sky, or it is a full moon and a waning sun."

Although he knew that the place the Huang family had sent him to was definitely not simple, seeing this scene made Xu Fan even more vigilant.

At this moment, a man dressed in ancient Chinese clothing strolled over from the roadside. He was taken aback when he saw Xu Fan, and then tilted his head to look at Xu Fan in front of him.

Xu Fan stepped forward to both sides, a clear and sincere smile appearing on his face:

"Brother, I got lost while I was sightseeing. I don't know where I am now?"

The man's face lit up with a look of sudden realization: "So that's how it is, this is a place of rest."

A place of rest?

The man was clearly a kind-hearted person and took the initiative to bring up the topic:

"Are you looking for the way back? Then don't bother. Our ancestors have been searching for hundreds of years, but they still haven't found a way to leave their resting place."

"Thank you for clearing up my doubts, brother."

The man continued, "Since you can't leave here anytime soon, why don't you stay here for now?"

"As long as you register with the government, they will allocate you a house."

Xu Fan used his true energy to examine the man's body, but found nothing unusual. It seemed that the man was probably an ordinary person.

However, just in case, Xu Fan still left a mark of true energy on the man's body.

"Thank you very much, brother."

The man waved his hand: "Hey, there's no need to be so polite."

The man led Xu Fan toward the government office. The bearded man, dressed in the attire of an ancient yamen runner, showed a look of surprise upon seeing the two of them.

"Old Bai, who is this guy?"

Old Bai was taken aback, looked at Xu Fan with a slightly apologetic expression, and patted his head:

"Look at me, how could I forget to introduce myself? Young man, my name is Bai Ming, everyone calls me Lao Bai."

As he spoke, the man leaned forward and glanced at a sign in front of the constable that looked like a work ID, with characters Xu Fan didn't recognize written on it: "He's Old Zhang, he's a constable here."

Xu Fan smiled and said, "My name is Xu Fan. I wandered into the Land of Rest because I got lost."

Old Zhang smiled kindly: "Young man, let me register you. You can stay in the house next to Old Bai's."

"Old Bai, you take this young man with you when the time comes."

After a simple registration, Lao Bai led Xu Fan to a simple bungalow.

"Xiao Xu, you can stay here for now. Just let me know if you need anything."

Old Bai pointed to the house next door: "I live here."

Xu Fan thanked him gratefully and walked towards his room.

The room was simply furnished with a made-up bed, a table, and a simple stove.

Xu Fan glanced around the room and saw that everything was normal, with nothing unusual about it.

Seeing that Lao Bai had already entered his house, Xu Fan turned around and walked out of the house.

Not far from the door was a street, where people dressed in ancient costumes strolled along, occasionally casting glances at Xu Fan. However, when their gazes fell on the sign hanging in front of Xu Fan, they all turned into surprise.

Several kind-faced old ladies looked at Xu Fan with even a hint of sympathy in their eyes.

Xu Fan could figure out that the reason these people sympathized with him was probably because the sign in front of him said he was a lost outsider.

These things didn't seem particularly strange to Xu Fan. What really puzzled him was that these people were all ordinary people, and there wasn't a trace of anything eerie about them.

After hesitating for a moment, Xu Fan decided to use the system to investigate.

The system has initiated a search and is connecting to the database.

[Scanning in progress...]

Humans:

Identity: An ordinary person imbued with the power of miracles.

Humans:

Identity: An ordinary person imbued with the power of miracles.

However, after scanning several people, Xu Fan always came to the same conclusion: ordinary people who had been tainted by the power of miracles.

The power of miracles?

Could it be that the Huang family sent him into this unfamiliar place just for this so-called miraculous power?

As the number of residents on the street dwindled and the street vendors gradually began to pack up, Xu Fan roughly understood that it was time for them to rest.

Sure enough, not long after, wisps of smoke began to rise from many of the houses next to Xu Fan's house.

Xu Fan glanced at the sky. The silver moonlight was still there, but the sunlight was gradually dimming. So, this was the night at the Resting Place?

Xu Fan had been to many strange places, but he had never seen one as bizarre as this one. Therefore, Xu Fan did not act rashly, but planned to observe more patiently.

In any case, according to his estimation, Huang Jia would definitely not do anything to Wang Pangzi and Daisy before he left this place.
