Chapter 16: Defamation
After confirming Jiang Ran's identity, Jiang Ran felt a little relieved and stood up to thank Xu Qingwan.
Xu Qingwan snorted uncomfortably.
"Lucky for you, you can't find anyone else who knows this news except me."
Seeing Jiang Ran about to leave, she reached out to stop him, "I've done you a big favor. You have to promise me that you will rescue Fuxueke."
Jiang Ran nodded and agreed, "He is the one who works for me, I will naturally do my best to save him."
Although she agreed readily, she was not sure whether she could save the person.
What is Princess Le'an's attitude towards this matter? Will she help her rescue the people? How can the subsequent negative impact be eliminated?
These are still unknowns.
On the way to the princess's mansion, the worst happened.
"Hey, have you heard? That Fourth Miss Jiang from the Zhennan General's Mansion..."
At the door of Jixian Bookstore, a dozen girls gathered together, sometimes talking loudly, sometimes whispering with their hands covering their mouths.
Jiang Ran signaled to stop the car and listened quietly for a while through the curtain.
Jixian Bookstore.
Ginger burning.
Lord Lu.
These keywords appear repeatedly.
"I heard that she studied in a college for a while and she liked to seduce men at that time."
"This is too arrogant! She cheated us out of our money and even asked us to see her delusional thoughts about Lord Lu."
"I think I met her the last time I came to the bookstore. She was short and ugly, and she even dared to covet Lord Lu."
"Me too, me too. I think I heard her talking. It was such a disgusting clipping sound."
"Hey, if she goes to the academy, she definitely isn't going to study. Who knows what she might do..."
Taoli couldn't stand it anymore and wanted to get off the car to argue with them.
Jiang Ran pulled her and shook his head, signaling them to hurry to the princess's mansion.
Now someone is deliberately spreading rumors and encouraging these girls to spread rumors to ruin her reputation.
The focus of the conflict now is that the owner of Jixian Bookstore is Jiang Ran, and someone has publicized this matter, causing customers to doubt the fairness of the voting.
Secondly, Jiang Ran turned the benefits that all voters deserved into her own personal gain, and forced everyone to pay for it. And they were all rushing to pay for it.
The angry crowd is irrational. They no longer want to know the truth and just want to take this opportunity to vent the most hurtful malice.
If it goes on any longer, rumors will spread and not only will her innocence be ruined, but the bookstore and other businesses of the Jiang family will also be affected.
Once rumors spread and public sentiment becomes agitated, the consequences will be disastrous.
"If I had known that Jixian Bookstore was owned by her, I would never have gone there. Let's go together and get our money back!"
"Yes, give us our money back! At least we have to give us back the money we used to vote."
Hearing the indignant cry, Jiang Ran closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, feeling a splitting headache.
Unexpectedly, before the rescue was completed, a new problem arose, catching her off guard.
Things are getting more and more difficult.
To her surprise, she thought it would take some effort to meet Princess Le'an.
But as soon as she got off the carriage, she found that the princess's personal maid was already waiting at the door. She said that Princess Le'an knew she was coming and there was no need to inform her, she could just go and see her directly.
As soon as Jiang Ran entered the yard, a smoky pink object rushed towards her.
"Jiang Ran, I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
Princess Le'an slid to her knees, and Jiang Ran could see clearly that the smoky pink ball of fur was actually a cloak covered in pink feathers.
"Princess, you can't do that." Jiang Ran didn't have time to support her and fell to his knees.
The two men knelt facing each other, supporting each other, one with a face full of regret and the other with eyes full of fear.
"I was wrong. I was jealous of you. I used the alias Jiang Ran on purpose."
"The tyrannical knight, the plundering, the forced love, these are all my ideas."
"It was me. I insisted that Fuxueke write it. It was all me. I harmed him. It was me who harmed him!"
The princess raised her hand to wipe away her tears as she spoke. Jiang Ran was stunned by the shock.
What?
Domineering knight, plundering, and forced love?
You wrote all this?!
Fortunately, she didn't have time to take a closer look, otherwise she would have spat out a mouthful of blood on the book.
"So... Princess, are you jealous of me because of what I said to Lu Weiqing last time?"
Jiang Ran couldn't believe that a princess like her would actually be jealous of a little girl like her. Her mind froze for a moment, then she forced it back on, trying to figure out the whole thing.
The princess was speechless, choking, and after thinking about Lu Weiqing's warning, she gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, I have a crush on Lu Weiqing."
"I have a dark and terrible mind."
Princess Le'an was feeling extremely upset because she had made up rumors about herself for the first time.
She thought to herself, jealousy is bullshit, I wish I could force you two to be together. If I hadn't been crazy, I wouldn't have made such a big mistake.
"Ah?" Jiang Ran was stunned for a moment. Although he had never interacted with her before, the princess did not seem like a deep-minded person.
She asked tentatively, "Is that so? Then...did the princess also spread those rumors?"
Princess Le'an was instantly excited when she heard that. She stood up in a flash and pulled Jiang Ran up with her.
"No, of course not! I didn't even know you were the owner of Jixian Bookstore."
"No! I'm not that bad, Jiang Ran, believe me. I didn't expect it would affect your reputation."
The princess felt the feeling of being unable to defend herself.
But she couldn't tell the truth. She felt a lump in her chest and almost fainted from holding it.
She gritted her teeth and added, "I just wanted them to be jealous of you like me, but I didn't expect it to become such a big deal."
Princess's Heart:
I'm not jealous of you at all, I just want all the sisters to support my CP.
Woo woo woo, what have I done wrong.
Who did this?! Who put the blame on me?! Find him, find him, I'm going to kill him!
"So that's how it is."
Jiang Ran nodded. She understood the feeling of being in love.
In the past, every time she was plotted against by Lin Buqiu, she would go crazy with jealousy, and she had fantasized many times about using her cup to hold foot washing water, or sticking chin beans in her face.
She didn't actually do it.
The princess's condition is just more serious than hers. She can't get the love she wants, so she has become mentally abnormal.
"I understand. I forgive you."
Jiang Ran had an expression of mutual understanding on his face and patted the princess's shoulder solemnly.
The princess was shocked and rushed over to hug Jiang Ran tightly.
Is this the woman she's attracted to? She's truly magnanimous, compassionate, repaying evil with kindness, radiating the holy aura of a celestial being descended to earth.
Jiang Ran stroked her back and whispered in her ear, "As long as you help me rescue that person, I won't pursue this matter."
"Yes, save people, save them quickly."
When the princess mentioned this, she looked sad. "I can't be involved in this matter. Lu Weiqing asked me to tell you that he is waiting for you at Changhua Gate and wants to go to the palace with you to meet the emperor."
"Lord Lu?"
"Yes, he was the one who told me that something happened and that you would come to the Princess's Mansion to find me."
"I was getting so impatient waiting. Luckily you came, otherwise I would have rushed into the Imperial Prison to save him."
The princess began to talk endlessly about how much she loved Snowflake's books.
Jiang Ran quickly bid farewell to the princess and rushed to Changhua Gate.
