Chapter 78 Confession
The summer heat was unbearable, so Lu Weiqing sent Jiang Ran to the door and told him to go back and rest.
Seeing him standing there like a door god, Jiang Ran thought that the prince could only wish for good luck.
As soon as she returned to the house, she ordered someone to bring the watermelon soaked in well water and cut it in half.
He held half of it on a cushion and ate it with a spoon, and kept the other half for Zhaoyang.
Sure enough, after a while, Lu Zhaoyang flashed in, bringing with him the cold incense primer he bought on the road.
"Sugar ice cold dumplings, Ah Ran, your favorite."
Jiang Ran looked at Zhao Yang's flattering expression and immediately guessed that she had something to ask for, so he deliberately didn't ask her, waiting for her to lose her temper and speak for herself.
Lu Zhaoyang held the melon and started eating, stealing a glance at Jiang Ran's expression.
Seeing that she was concentrating on eating the melon and didn't care at all, I wondered why she was the only one who came back.
Zhao Yang couldn't hold back his words any longer, so he leaned over and said, "A Ran, big brother has chased Li Yu away."
Jiang Ran responded indifferently without any expression.
"My coat was soaked with blood, but my eldest brother didn't even let me change the medicine and just drove me away." Zhaoyang said exaggeratedly.
"Now that he's back in the East Palace, is he worried about not having a royal physician to treat him?"
Jiang Ran looked at Zhaoyang with a smile.
Lu Zhaoyang frowned and thought for a while before agreeing to let the other person recuperate in the Lu Mansion. But then he turned around and sent the person away. Isn't that a bit unfair?
"That's true, but he saved us again today. Isn't it a bit too cruel to ignore him?"
"Since we don't want him to stay, why not take some time to visit him in the East Palace?"
Lu Zhaoyang was just about to say that there were too many people around and too many eyes, when he suddenly remembered the secret passage in his eldest brother's study, and his eyes lit up.
"Aran, I remembered I have something else to do, so I'm leaving first."
Zhaoyang said hello and ran away with a bowl of cold fragrant tea.
As soon as she left, Lu Weiqing walked in with a serious face.
Jiang Ran handed him the cold dumplings and said flatteringly, "Zhaoyang brought them specially for you."
Lu Weiqing's expression eased a little after hearing this.
Seeing that he was in a bad mood, Jiang Ran deliberately picked up some witty remarks.
"You know, if I hadn't been smart, Concubine Ru would have taken you three concubines."
Jiang Ran raised three fingers, intending to take credit, "How are you going to thank me?"
Lu Weiqing raised his eyebrows and said, "I heard that Madam is jealous and will not allow me to take a concubine in this life."
Jiang Ran felt a little guilty, it was just an excuse to reject Ru Fei, but he didn't expect Zhao Yang to say it in front of him.
If he really had an idea, how could she dare to stop him?
"Not really... it's not very appropriate to put Ru Fei's spies into the mansion."
"If Brother Weiqing has this idea, you can find another woman with a clean family background and make plans later."
Jiang Ran answered appropriately, but he felt an inexplicable bitterness in his heart.
Hearing her say this, the smile in Lu Weiqing's eyes disappeared instantly.
I thought she was jealous, but it turned out to be this reason.
That's really thoughtful.
She also wanted to find another beautiful concubine for him.
"Aran, do you really want me to take a concubine? Don't you mind at all?"
Jiang Ran was stunned by the question.
It wasn't that she didn't mind at all. She was most afraid of trouble. If someone came into the house, she would definitely not be as comfortable as she is now.
But she couldn't be too selfish. So many people were staring at her belly. If she didn't get pregnant for a long time, she didn't know how they would frame Brother Weiqing.
Besides, they were just getting married, so did she really have the right to mind?
Jiang Ran was very confused and didn't know how to start.
Seeing that she didn't say anything, Lu Weiqing pulled Jiang Ran over and held her in his arms.
When Jiang Ran came to her senses, she was already sitting on his lap.
The temperature where the skin touches is scorching.
"It's hot." She struggled slightly and wanted to stand up, but Lu Weiqing held her waist and she couldn't move.
"Aran, can't you really see my feelings?"
Lu Weiqing felt a little depressed for a rare time.
A dull and hoarse voice sounded in her ears, and her chest against her spine vibrated, bringing with it a tingling sensation.
"What's your intention? I don't know." Jiang Ran pretended not to know, and held his palm tightly, trying to break free.
Lu Weiqing finally mustered up the courage to ask how he could let her escape so easily. He grabbed her with his backhand and forced his fingers to intertwine with hers.
Jiang Ran felt as if he was holding hot charcoal and was unable to sit still.
There was something wrong with Lu Weiqing. Ever since the day he came back, he had been extremely clingy, always making her blush and feel hot. It was really annoying.
"It's hot." Jiang Ran complained again.
It was a hot summer day, and they were so close to each other that the little bit of coolness they had accumulated from eating the ice watermelon just now had dissipated. It didn't mean he wanted to kill her.
"Aran, I like you."
Lu Weiqing said it directly and kissed her earlobe lightly, which made Jiang Ran shiver.
His little girl always liked to escape and refused to face his feelings.
He originally wanted to take it slow and steady. After all, he had been waiting for so many years, so there was no need to rush.
But during these days of separation, he realized that he really couldn't bear it anymore.
Whether he was awake or in his dreams, he was always worried about losing her.
He also felt deeply that although they were already married, A Ran had never truly accepted him, and had been keeping the lie of the marriage, with a veil between them.
Jiang Ran was so shocked by his sudden confession that she didn't know what to do with her hands and feet.
She pondered for a moment and realized that the feeling of her heart pounding was not unpleasant.
But was she happy with him? She couldn't be sure.
Lu Weiqing looked down at the distressed little girl in his arms. His bright black eyes swept over her fair neck, slightly red earlobes, and upturned nose. He suddenly lifted Jiang Ran up, gently placed her on the chaise longue, and leaned over to give her a lingering kiss.
Jiang Ran's words in response were ground into pieces by the gentle kiss.
Lu Weiqing kissed her passionately, his hand unconsciously reaching under her collarbone. Jiang Ran moaned, and only then did he come back to his senses.
He then put his arms around her slender waist and parted their lips a little to give her a chance to breathe.
"Do you hate this?"
Jiang Ran was breathing heavily and couldn't make any sound. He could only shake his head in response.
When Lu Weiqing saw this, it felt like fireworks were bursting in his heart, his Adam's apple was rolling, and the corners of his lips couldn't help but rise.
At least A Ran doesn't hate him.
One day, she will realize her feelings and accept him completely.
Jiang Ran finally caught her breath, and what she saw was his complacent look. She felt aggrieved. Why was he always so at ease, making her feel uneasy?
She didn't know how seductive her shy and annoyed expression was, and the thoughts that Lu Weiqing had just suppressed surfaced again.
He leaned forward to kiss her, and this time Jiang Ran did not dodge, but took the initiative to meet him, imitating his way and rolling around.
Lu Weiqing was overjoyed and his big hand moved up along his waist.
Jiang Ran was a little panicked, his breathing was unstable for a moment, but he immediately reacted and started randomly touching Lu Weiqing's chest and abdomen, causing him to groan.
The two were arguing with each other when footsteps were suddenly heard outside the door.
Jiang Ran came back to her senses, pushed him away in an instant, pulled up her messy clothes, and sat up straight.
Lu Zhaoyang poked his head in and saw Jiang Ran sitting alone on the chaise longue, her face red as blood.
"A Ran, did you look at my elder brother?"
Jiang Ran glanced at the beams and said guiltily, "No."
Lu Zhaoyang uttered an "oh" in confusion and muttered to look somewhere else, not knowing that her elder brother was staring at her back and grinding his back teeth.
