Chapter 83: Taste
"Ma'am, don't be afraid, they are all gone."
Lu Weiqing smiled and coaxed her softly for a while, and then Jiang Ran leaned over and took a look at that place.
Seeing that the people who had been making a fuss had dispersed, she muttered, "Who's scared?", lifted her skirt, sat down and started to have lunch.
Lu Weiqing knew that she was shy, so he didn't expose her. He kept serving her the food, picked out all the bones from the fish belly, and put the whole piece of meat into her bowl.
The food is delicious and the scenery is beautiful, but the only downside is that it is a bit hot.
Although there was a gentle breeze on the lake, it was noon and the sun was glaring. In just half a minute, Jiang Ran had already broken out in a thin layer of sweat.
Lu Weiqing picked up a round fan to fan her, but the wind was also hot.
"Madam, why don't you take a rest in the yamen for a while, and then we can go back to the mansion together after I finish my duty."
Jiang Ran was about to agree when she heard someone calling her name from afar.
She thought she had misheard, but when she turned around, she saw it was Mr. Qi Xin from Qingshan Academy.
Jiang Chuan had previously been a disciple of Mr. Qi, so she had met him many times when she visited him and they were quite familiar with each other.
"A Ran, I was afraid that I had recognized the wrong person, but it turned out to be you." Qi Xin said as he ran towards the pavilion without any hesitation.
"Mr. Qi, why are you here?"
Jiang Ran had a very good impression of this gentleman. He was very young but had traveled extensively, had a wide range of knowledge, and was very approachable without putting on airs.
"What a coincidence! The Imperial College invited me to give a lecture, and I stopped by to catch up with my former classmates. I didn't expect to run into you here."
Jiang Ran's eyes lit up. She had attended Mr. Qi's classes a few times. He liked to insert interesting stories he encountered during his travels into his lectures, and she was always fascinated by his stories.
"Mr. Qi is here to give a lecture! Can I go?"
"sure."
Qi Xin immediately took off the pendant hanging on the folding fan he was carrying and handed it to Jiang Ran as a token of trust.
The two chatted back and forth, completely ignoring Lu Weiqing.
Lu Weiqing had never been treated so coldly before. It was really uncomfortable to be treated as a background board.
As if asserting his sovereignty, he put his arms around Jiang Ran's slender waist and pulled her towards him, finally bringing her back to her senses.
Qi Xin seemed to have just noticed him and asked in surprise, "Who is this?"
"Oh, I forgot to introduce him. This is my...husband, Prime Minister Lu Weiqing."
"It turns out to be Prime Minister Lu. I have heard of your great name for a long time, but I am honored to meet you today." Qi Xin bowed and saluted.
Lu Weiqing just nodded slightly as a greeting.
At the same time, Jiang Ran felt the hand on her waist scratching her lightly, but then she suspected that she was feeling it wrong and looked at Lu Weiqing in confusion.
Lu Weiqing also looked back at her, with some emotions faintly suppressed in his clear eyes.
Jiang Ran didn't know that Lu Weiqing was a little jealous at first, but when he heard her call him "husband", the bitterness in his heart had disappeared and turned into pink bubbles gurgling up.
In Qi Xin's eyes, the interaction between the two was pure dog food.
He raised his fist, coughed lightly, and tactfully said goodbye.
Jiang Ran waved his hand and watched the man walk away. He was still playing with the fan pendant, muttering to himself, and kept praising Mr. Qi to Lu Weiqing for his profound knowledge. He was completely unaware that the jealous jar beside him had been overturned.
Lu Weiqing frowned and pulled Jiang Ran towards their usual lunch break place.
Because he was walking so fast, Jiang Ran had to jog to keep up with him, but he still didn't realize the seriousness of the situation.
After entering the house, Lu Weiqing closed the door, snatched the fan pendant from Jiang Ran's hand, and fetched some water for her to wash her hands.
Seeing this, Jiang Ran had a vague guess in his mind: Could it be that Lu Weiqing was jealous?
She quickly dismissed the idea. How could Prime Minister Lu be so childish? She must have misunderstood.
Jiang Ran tentatively reached out and touched his forehead. The weather was so hot. Could it be that he was feeling unwell and that was why he suddenly became so impatient?
It’s not hot at all. Jiang Ran put down his hand with a puzzled look on his face and went to pick up the fan pendant that Lu Weiqing had thrown aside. He planned to put it on his own round fan so that it would not be easily lost and he would not forget it when he went out tomorrow.
Lu Weiqing's face turned pale, and he quickly snatched the pendant away. He didn't know if she really didn't see it, or if she was deliberately trying to piss him off.
"Brother Weiqing, what are you doing? Stop making trouble and give it back to me."
"This is a token of trust that Mr. Qi gave me. If I lose it, how will I attend his lecture tomorrow?"
Jiang Ran spoke with confidence, which immediately aroused Lu Weiqing's desire to win.
"Madam, you like to listen to travelogues, right? I can tell them too." Lu Weiqing gritted his teeth and uttered two sentences.
Before Jiang Ran could react, he was picked up by him.
Lu Weiqing sat on the low couch, put his hands around her waist, and let her sit sideways on his lap.
Jiang Ran instantly felt his burning, firm muscles. Although he looked thin, his entire body was covered in hard, muscular tissue, making him uncomfortable.
She moved her hips slightly nervously, which made him groan and he immediately dared not move again.
Jiang Ran endured for a while, but he still didn't start talking. There was something pressing against her leg.
"What kind of travelogue is Brother Weiqing going to tell me? Your book is poking me. Move it away."
As she spoke she looked down but didn't see him picking up the book, she suddenly realized what it was and her face turned red.
Lu Weiqing still looked indifferent, but because she urged him, he actually started to tell her the story of "Records of Entering Sichuan".
Jiang Ran felt embarrassed at first, but gradually became engrossed in listening.
Lu Weiqing not only memorized the original text completely, but also incorporated some folk anecdotes, poems, and songs at appropriate times. His slightly hoarse voice, which carried a sense of story, told the story in a fascinating way.
"What I say is better than Qi Xin, what do you think?"
Lu Weiqing suddenly asked, pulling Jiang Ran out of the illusion of traveling around the mountains and rivers.
She slowly realized that Lu Weiqing seemed to be really jealous.
Jiang Ran smiled flatteringly and exaggeratedly praised, "Of course Brother Wei Qing is better. His story is so wonderful that I won't be able to sleep tonight until I finish listening to this travelogue."
"Then will you go tomorrow?" Lu Weiqing pursed his thin lips and looked at her steadily.
Jiang Ran pondered for a while, then said cautiously, "We've already made an appointment. If I don't go, I'll be breaking my promise."
After listening to her, Lu Weiqing put on a stern face, moved his hands to his waist, pressed forward, turned the person over, and pushed him onto the couch.
Jiang Ran called out "Brother Weiqing" helplessly, and his voice was like a kitten, scratching Lu Weiqing's heart.
Not only did he not stand up, he supported himself at her side with one hand and lifted her chin with the other.
Jiang Ran had become accustomed to him asking for kisses from time to time, and slowly closed her eyes, but she still didn't feel his touch.
She opened her eyes in confusion, and Lu Weiqing suddenly kissed her. It was not as gentle and affectionate as usual, but like a violent storm, as if to rob all the air.
Jiang Ran was so embarrassed that he wanted to close his eyes, but he heard a slightly hoarse voice in his ear.
"Look at me, A Ran, I'm yours."
