Chapter 2: If you don't pay, then none of you should live.

Su Wenyuan interrupted, her voice trembling with tears, "Whether you forced me to do it or not, you know in your heart. Everyone in the manor knows that you've always disliked me."

Su Yuan looked at her with displeasure. It was one thing to make a fuss before, but now she's even driving someone to suicide?

Wang was so anxious she was jumping up and down. She had committed too many sins, and now she couldn't explain herself no matter what she tried.

"I didn't force her, she wanted to die!" Wang kept repeating this one sentence.

Su Wenyuan looked dejected and suppressed her sobs as she said, "If I really wanted to die, I would have died back then. Why did I have to die while I was a princess?"

Su Yuan thought it made sense. She had been bullied for so many years but never thought of dying. Now that she was about to become a princess, why did she have to suffer like this? It must be the madam who forced her to do this.

"Get out too!" Su Yuan said angrily.

Wang was wronged and swallowed the bitter pill, but before leaving, she glared at Su Wenyuan.

Su Wenyuan shrank back by the bed, meek and submissive, not daring to look her in the eye, which only confirmed her guilt.

Looking at his daughter, whom he hadn't shown any concern for in a long time, Su Yuan couldn't offer any words of comfort.

“Although Prince Chen has a bad reputation, you are, after all, a marriage decreed by the Emperor, so he will have some reservations.”

Su Wenyuan lowered her head and remained silent. No matter how eloquently he spoke, he could not conceal the fact that Prince Chen was ruthless.

"Let's get ready first, the bridal sedan chair will arrive later!" Su Yuan said before leaving.

After everyone left, Yuexiu looked at her uneasily and said cautiously, "Didn't you say you'd rather die than marry, Miss?"

"Why should I die? Aren't they all more deserving of death than I am?" Su Wenyuan said indifferently.

She had no choice just now. Anyway, the end was still far away, and Prince Chen wouldn't die anytime soon. Going to Prince Chen's residence was much safer than staying at the Prime Minister's residence.

Wang sent an old nanny to do her hair and makeup.

Prince Chen was not satisfied with this marriage. He told the public that he was not in good health and did not want to make a big fuss. He said that it would be enough to bring the person into the mansion, but whether she would live or die was up to fate. It was a blatant threat.

Therefore, things were simpler at the Prime Minister's residence, as there were no guests or banquets.

When the old woman was combing her hair, she seemed to be harboring some resentment, and her rough movements gave Su Wenyuan a headache.

"Miss, you just angered Madam, and now Master has gone to coax her, so there's no one to escort you to your wedding. Please bear with it." The nanny looked impatient.

Su Wenyuan's gaze was stern and cold as she said indifferently, "The nanny's hair-combing skills are quite good. I'll tell the Prince tomorrow that you can go to the Prince Chen's residence to serve him."

The old woman's hand trembled, and she said with a look of horror, "Miss, you must be joking."

Is the Prince Chen's mansion a place that ordinary people can go? One wrong move and you could be reduced to ashes.

"Do you think I'm in the mood for jokes right now?" Su Wenyuan's face darkened.

The old woman immediately understood, and her subsequent movements were gentle, careful, and extremely cautious.

With everything prepared, the bridal sedan chair from Prince Chen's residence arrived. She was helped out of the house, which was quiet and deserted, with servants sweeping the courtyard as usual.

After leaving the house, Su Wenyuan only saw a bridal sedan chair, a few sedan chair bearers, and guards.

It's clear that Prince Chen's attitude was perfunctory; he couldn't even be bothered to put on an act.

Su Wenyuan thought it was a good idea, as it would make it easier for her to make a living in the Prince Chen's mansion. Otherwise, being watched by a pervert would scare her to death sooner or later.

But there's one bad thing: the dowry! Su Yuan hasn't prepared anything at all?

Su Yuan kept her mother as a concubine back then, just for her dowry. He thought that when she got married, Su Yuan would give her something as a token of his affection.

It doesn't need to be much, just enough for her to have start-up capital, but Su Yuan didn't want to give her any at all!

Without money, she would starve to death at Prince Chen's mansion. Even if Prince Chen was willing to give her a meal, she would still have to bribe the servants in the mansion!

Thinking of this, Su Wenyuan turned and went back to her residence, muttering under her breath, "Prime Minister, indeed! He has no shame at all!"

Her departure startled the wedding party, who rushed back to the mansion to report.

The study of Prince Chen's residence.

Sheng Jingyu was dressed in white, thin and frail, with prominent facial bones, looking like a sickly person who had been bedridden for a long time.

Her face was pale and bloodless, and the exposed part of her wrist was exceptionally thin, as if it consisted of only a layer of skin and flesh.

He was writing, his eyes bright and alert, and he carefully checked his writing after each stroke.

"Your Highness, something unexpected has happened at the Prime Minister's residence," the guard Meng Qi reported.

"Come in and talk." Sheng Jingyu was not surprised at all.

With his current reputation, he could scare anyone he married half to death.

Su Wenyuan has already committed suicide once, so it wouldn't be surprising if she died again.

"Miss Su went out, but saw the bridal sedan chair and went back."

Sheng Jingyu was waiting for him to continue, but he had already finished speaking, that was all.

Sheng Jingyu glanced at him unhappily and scolded, "Is such a small matter worth mentioning? Go find out the reason before reporting back."

Meng Qi was young and needed to be taught everything little by little, but he was obedient and nodded repeatedly to show that he understood.

Su Wenyuan is currently arguing her case to get her dowry back.

No matter how she threatened or bribed her, Wang Shi insisted that she had nothing and refused to give a single penny.

He even said he wasn't afraid of her making a scene, and that if she had the ability, he could get Prince Chen to come and support her.

Su Yuan remained silent, like a dead man.

His indifference only emboldened the Wang family.

"There's definitely no dowry! Either you get on the bridal sedan chair yourself, or I'll break your legs and throw you up there!" Madam Wang said fiercely, hands on her hips.

Su Wenyuan was silent for a long time, then suddenly laughed.

"Fine! I don't want it!" she answered decisively.

Wang was very pleased with herself, and Su Yuan visibly relaxed.

Su Wenyuan changed the subject and said, "I'm going out now. In a few hours, after our wedding night, I plan to assassinate the prince. Then I'll say that my father ordered it, that he resents the prince and the emperor, and that he has long harbored thoughts of betraying the country."
