Granny Li said sarcastically, "The young lady has chosen the right master, and now she's gained momentum. The Su family is in decline, and we've chosen the wrong person. Can't we even cry about it?"
Yuexiu is no longer the girl who was always bullied.
Hearing this, she strode forward, stood in front of the old women, and said sternly, "If you want to cry, go outside. The money you received today was only because the Princess took pity on you. If you don't want to leave and insist on staying in the Su residence, then return the money!"
"When Lord Su returns, he'll give you money. Taking money from the Prince Chen's mansion and doing jobs for the Su family? Dream on!"
Her voice was crisp and clear, yet full of anger, and she kept saying what she shouldn't, somewhat reminiscent of Su Wenyuan's scolding style back then.
She was just a little too inexperienced. The old guys seized on the loophole in her words and said, "In that case, we won't go back to the Su residence. Staying here is just as good."
The Prince Chen's mansion offers generous monthly allowances, and there are red envelopes during festivals. The food and lodging are excellent, and the master is not difficult to deal with.
These things have already spread outside.
Back then, no one wanted to work at Prince Chen's residence, but now that it has a good reputation, everyone is eager to get in.
"Pah!" Yuexiu spat fiercely. "What do you think this place is? You think you can just stay here as you please? You can't even do your job properly in the Su family mansion, yet you want to come to the Prince Chen's mansion."
Su Wenyuan clapped from behind. If she had done this earlier, she wouldn't have had to scold people herself.
With Su Wenyuan's encouragement, Yuexiu stood up straighter.
"You say I'm good to my master, but why don't you think about how you treated the princess back then? You think I've forgotten all about it if I don't hold you accountable!"
Yuexiu pointed at Granny Zhang and continued, "How much of the Princess's food have you withheld?"
Granny Zhang nervously backed away, thinking that Su Wenyuan had already let it go.
Yuexiu then turned to Granny Li and said, "Did you take the charcoal from me? When I went to ask you for it, you had me thrown out."
Su Wenyuan sat up straight, her expression turning serious. "Is that so? Meng Qi! Bring your men here!"
Granny Li waved her hands repeatedly, refusing the money, and kept backing away.
Some of those who felt guilty began to quietly move away, hoping to leave without anyone noticing.
It's all those old folks' fault. They insisted that this job was hard-won, and that if we listened to them, we could not only get our monthly salary, but also never have to worry about anything in the future. If we were lucky, we could even stay in the Prince Chen's mansion.
The others didn't believe it at first, but they were reluctant to part with their money, so they decided to come and try their luck.
Just then, Su Wenyuan showed great kindness and easily obtained the silver. These people, being greedy, inevitably wanted more.
They messed things up because Yuexiu brought up old grievances.
Meng Qi led his men over and surrounded the group; those who tried to escape were all caught and brought back.
Everyone was so frightened that they trembled and returned the silver without Su Wenyuan saying anything.
“I went to the Su residence after I got married, and stepped forward.”
Su Wenyuan did not want to implicate innocent people.
