Chapter 167 Rest for the night, so we can perform the ritual tomorrow.

Standing by the roadside, Ma Linghua noticed that her eldest granddaughter looked slightly tired. She smoothed her wind-blown hair and said crisply to Li Panmei, "Panmei, call Erfa to pick us up and take us back to Black Wind Village."

Upon hearing this, Li Panmei hesitated for a moment, "Well... I don't know if Erfa is busy right now."

Ma Linghua frowned. "Stop arguing, just call him over right now." Her tone was firm and unwavering.

Li Panmei trembled. Her mother was still the same mother. "Erfa, your opportunity has come again. Seize this windfall!"

Li Erfa; "……………………"

Can't you just play something else?

Li Panmei dared not say anything more, and quickly took out her phone, swiped her finger across the screen, found Erfa's number, and dialed it.

The phone rang several times, each ring making Li Panmei's heart pound even harder.

"Hello! Dad, what's up?" Erfa's voice came through the receiver.

Li Panmei quickly said, "Erfa, your grandma said you should go pick them up and take them back to Black Wind Village."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. Erfa seemed to be hesitating about something. "I have something to do right now and I can't get away."

Li Panmei glanced anxiously at her wife and said into the phone, "Erfa, you have to go whether you want to or not, or I'll beat you to death. Your grandma specifically asked you to go."

Li Erfa; "……………………"

Then, pointing to his phone, he shouted, "Erfa, stop dawdling and hurry up and pick up your grandma!"

Li Erfa replied helplessly, "Alright, alright, Dad, don't be angry, I'll go right away."

After hanging up the phone, Ma Linghua, her daughter, and her eldest granddaughter stood there waiting, the wind howling around them, stirring up the withered leaves on the ground.

Ma Linghua tightened her clothes, a hint of impatience in her eyes.

Ma Hehua said cautiously, "Mother, the second shot should be here soon."

Ma Linghua didn't speak, but simply nodded, her gaze constantly drifting towards the end of the road.

Time passed by second by second, and every minute seemed exceptionally long.

Ma Lihua unconsciously shuffled her feet back and forth on the ground, and began to wonder, "Why isn't Erfa here yet?" She was feeling a little sleepy.

Finally, the roar of a car engine came from afar. Ma Hehua's eyes lit up, "It must be Erfa coming."

A dilapidated van came into view, speeding towards them before screeching to a stop in front of them.

Erfa leaned out of the car window, "Grandma, Auntie, Sister, get in the car quickly!"

Ma Linghua and Ma Hehua opened the car door and got in. Ma Lihua took the front seat. The car had a musty smell and the seats were worn.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Erfa said as he started the car.

Ma Hehua snorted, "If you had come any later, we would have all been standing here in the wind and freezing cold. By the way, why isn't this the same car you had last time? This one is so old and worn out! Your grandma is getting on in years, she can't handle it!" Then she turned to her mother and said, "Right, Mom?"

Ma Linghua nodded, then the more she thought about it, the more she felt that the words didn't quite fit, but Hehua had also hit the nail on the head: the car was too dirty.

Erfa gave an awkward laugh, then stopped talking and focused on driving.

He wouldn't dare drive an expensive car to pick her up, for fear of encountering something or other problems. His dad had said that when it came to his grandma, everything could be old and durable.

The car drove along the bumpy road, and the scenery outside the window kept receding.

Looking out the window, Ma Linghua was filled with thoughts. She had thought this trip would go smoothly, but she hadn't expected to encounter so many troubles.

Ma Lihua leaned back in her chair, her eyes closed, seemingly lost in thought.

"Grandma, do you think Uncle Douzi can handle those things after we go back to the village?" Ma Lihua broke the silence.

Ma Linghua opened her eyes, glanced at her eldest granddaughter, and said, "Whether it can be resolved or not, it's none of our business. Isn't there still that special operations team?"

She sighed softly, "Our Ma family is just trying to live our own lives well. We don't have time to care about anything else. As long as no one takes advantage of us, that's fine."

Ma Lihua nodded, agreeing that it made sense.

The car continued on its way, passing a field where several farmers were working diligently.

Looking at them, Ma Linghua felt a surge of emotion. "We country folk spend our whole lives tending to this small plot of land. We don't know when we'll be able to live a good life."

Erfa said, "Grandma, don't be so pessimistic. Maybe things will turn around in the future."

Ma Linghua smiled coldly, "That's none of my business."

Li Erfa; "………………………"

As the car got closer to Black Wind Village, Erfa's feelings became increasingly complicated.

Black Wind Village—he'd never been there before, never even heard of it. It was his father's hometown. Should he go and take a look?

Finally, the car stopped on the road opposite Montenegro.

The river is familiar, the roads are familiar, everything is still the same.

Ma Linghua got out of the car and took a deep breath. "The air in the village is so much better."

Ma Lihua and Li Erfa also got out of the car, while Ma Hehua remained sound asleep inside.

"The Ma family is back, sisters, look!"

"What? Why are you back again?"

"Who knows! Why don't you go ask them?"

"Do you think I'm stupid? Go ask? Why don't you go ask?"

The demons and monsters on Black Mountain gathered together, watching and observing, occasionally offering their guesses.

"Alright, we've arrived. Erfa, you can go back now! Say hello to your father, and ask him how the pension is calculated, as well as the filial piety fee for this meeting. Remember to tell your father to calculate it carefully." Ma Linghua's lips curled into a cold smile.

Li Erfa; "……………………"

He silently lit a candle for his father in his heart.

Ungrateful wretches! I raised them all, and they not only don't give me any money for my old age, but now they dare to talk back to me.

We have no choice but to clean it up.

After Erfa left, Ma Hehua carried her daughter on her back and followed her mother home with great speed.

When she arrived at her doorstep, she pushed it open and saw the somewhat messy house. She immediately flew into a rage, yelling, "Damn it! Who dares to rummage through my Ma family's things? They're asking for trouble!"

That roar was earth-shattering and trembling.

The birds on Black Mountain were startled and flew away.

Ma Lihua also became unusually serious. This was definitely not someone from their town, or a monster from the Black Mountain. Moreover, Xiao Huang was nowhere to be found.

The only problem was that a completely lawless evil spirit came to the Black Mountain. It wasn't that Little Yellow didn't try to stop it; it's very likely that it was powerless or that something unexpected happened.

Ma Linghua glanced at him indifferently. "Hehua, tidy up the house, then go check if the chickens and ducks are still there. Get some rest for the night, and you'll be ready to perform the rituals for them one by one tomorrow." Her voice was icy, and her eyes were full of cold light. They were never good people.
