At eight o'clock in the morning, the morning light shone through the mottled window frames into the Ma family's simple yet tidy little house.
Ma Hehua slowly woke up from her sleep and stretched out a big yawn.
She quickly got up, put on her coarse cloth clothes, and slung the sharp curved knife behind her back.
Ma Hehua took a deep breath, reached out and grasped the door latch, and gently pushed it open. The door creaked open, and the morning breeze rushed in, carrying a slight chill.
However, at that very moment, her gaze was drawn to the scene before her, and she was stunned.
There was a figure huddled at the doorway; it was the pitiful and utterly miserable Huang Sanlang.
He was filthy, his hair was disheveled, and his once bright eyes were now filled with helplessness and fear.
Its fur was tattered and stained with blood and dirt, as if it had experienced a terrible disaster.
Ma Hehua was startled, and her brows furrowed slightly. She approached Huang Sanlang, squatted down, and asked softly, "What's wrong with you?"
Upon hearing the voice, Huang Sanlang slightly raised his head, a hint of excitement in his eyes.
His lips were cracked, and his voice was hoarse as he said, "Miss Lotus, I... I'm so useless. I didn't protect the home properly." He said this while tears streamed down his face.
Ma Hehua scrutinized Huang Sanlang closely, a surge of anger welling up within her.
She gently helped Huang Sanlang up, led him into the house, and sat him down in a chair.
Huang Sanlang's body trembled incessantly, as if he had not yet recovered from what had just happened.
"Don't be afraid, tell me quickly, what exactly happened?" Ma Hehua stared at Huang Sanlang with extremely fierce eyes.
Huang Sanlang trembled and dared not hide anything. He told her in detail how he met Cui Niang, how Cui Niang abused him, and how she wanted to take over that place.
He took a deep breath and began to recount his experience, which immediately made Ma Hehua think of him as a monster who had broken into her house and rummaged through her things.
"Can you tell what kind of monster she is?" Ma Hehua asked him.
"I don't know." Huang Sanlang shook his head embarrassedly. It was all because his cultivation level was too low and his abilities were limited, so he really couldn't tell.
"If you don't know, you don't know! Anyway, you won't need to know in the future." Ma Hehua's eyes flashed with malice, and without saying another word, she headed straight for the thatched hut that Huang Sanlang had mentioned.
Cui Niang was still sleeping, a smile on her lips, as if she were having a sweet dream.
In the mountains and forests, as the morning light just began to fall upon the earth, Ma Hehua's footsteps were as swift as the wind, hurrying forward.
Her lithe figure moved swiftly along the path, her clothes fluttering in the wind, each step carrying determination and resolve.
They walked incredibly fast, as if they were walking on air, and in the blink of an eye, they arrived at the thatched hut built by Cui Niang.
At this moment, Ma Hehua's eyes were filled with rage, a rage so intense it seemed capable of devouring everything in its path.
Her mother said that everything belonged to the Ma family and no one could take it away. This was a concept that Ma Linghua had instilled in her since she was a child: no one should be allowed to take even the slightest advantage of the Ma family.
She clenched her teeth, her hands unconsciously forming fists, and her breathing became rapid with anger.
In Ma Hehua's eyes, this thatched hut was a serious provocation against the dignity of her Ma family.
On this black mountain, the Ma family has lived in Black Wind Village for generations, possessing undisputed authority and status. In Ma Hehua's heart, no one can build a house here without the permission of the Ma family. This is the rule, the tradition, and the inviolable family honor.
Ma Hehua stood in front of the thatched hut, glaring at the dilapidated house, her anger burning ever brighter.
Now, Cui Niang has dared to build a house here without the Ma family's consent, which is a great disrespect to the Ma family.
Ma Hehua took a deep breath and kicked the door of the thatched hut away, but the flames of anger continued to burn in her heart.
She stepped into the courtyard of the thatched hut, and the ground beneath her feet seemed to sense her anger, emitting a dull thud.
In the courtyard, some simple daily necessities were placed haphazardly, making it look messy and disorganized.
Seeing all this, Ma Hehua's anger flared up again. She shouted, "You little vixen named Cui Niang, you better come out right now!" Her voice echoed in the courtyard, but received no response.
Ma Hehua's eyes searched around the courtyard, and finally, she saw a figure at the door of the thatched hut.
That was Cui Niang. She stood there timidly, her eyes filled with fear and unease.
The woman's aura of yin energy was terrifying, like dark clouds pressing down from above.
"Who...who are you? How did you get in?" Cui Niang's voice trembled, yet she maintained a semblance of composure.
Ma Hehua approached Cui Niang step by step, each step carrying a heavy weight. "You little vixen, how dare you! You dare to build a house on our Ma family's territory without permission, do you even respect the Ma family?" Ma Hehua's voice boomed like a bell, making Cui Niang tremble.
Cui Niang lowered her head, not daring to meet Ma Hehua's gaze. "I...I had no choice! The forest around my house was washed away by the heavy rain, and I had nowhere to live, so...so I built this thatched hut here." Cui Niang explained softly, her voice trembling with tears.
Upon closer inspection, her affected manner actually seemed quite convincing.
She couldn't see through this woman's abilities and didn't dare to act rashly, for fear of being caught off guard and suffering a setback.
"Hmph! No place to live? That doesn't mean you can build a house without the Ma family's permission! That's the rule, don't you understand?" Ma Hehua remained unmoved, her eyes still stern and ruthless.
