Chapter 201 Getting Lost, Encountering the Painting Ghost

Five minutes later, Ma Hehua returned to normal, but felt a little different. She couldn't figure out exactly what was different.

"Lotus, alright, let's go back!" Ma Linghua looked at the night sky, the moon high in the sky, carrying a faint sense of eeriness.

"Oh! Yes, Mother." Ma Hehua sheathed her broadsword, relieved to see that it was unstained.

The snow seemed to be falling heavier and heavier, and the December weather was getting colder and colder. The three of them walked in the silent Ailao Mountains. They did not see any wild animals in the mountains, and could only hear a few insect chirps.

Shangguan Wenyan followed behind them, not understanding why Lihua and the others were circling around. Why not just head east to the mountain, where there was a path leading out of the village?

But the group kept missing each other.

"Mother, is this the road we walked on when we came down?" Ma Lihua asked her mother.

"Well... I think so! I'm not really sure either."

Ma Lihua: "……………………"

Oh no, this is bad, there's no going back now!

Ma Linghua remained silent, staring at the road ahead with a furrowed brow.

"What's wrong, Mom?" Ma Hehua asked when she saw that her mother had stopped walking.

"This is not the road to Ailao Mountain at all. Be careful, we've been misled."

Then Ma Hehua placed her daughter between herself and her mother, and the three of them looked around.

The pitch-black night, like a huge black silk ribbon, tightly wrapped the entire world, allowing not a single ray of light to pass through.

The vast expanse of white snow, shimmering with an eerie, cold light in this endless darkness, seemed like an invitation to death.

The silent forest is like a vast, sleeping labyrinth, with each tree acting as a silent guardian, yet also concealing shadows of unknown terror.

The three members of the Ma family walked cautiously through this world where silver and darkness intertwined.

Their footsteps were so light, each step felt like walking on thin ice, disturbing the stillness of the place.

A cold wind blew, and the branches swayed, making a creaking sound, like the whispers of a demon.

Snowflakes fell in a flurry, landing on their skin, but brought no warmth, only a bone-chilling cold.

Ma Linghua's heartbeat sounded particularly loud in the silence. Her gaze swept around her constantly, her eyes filled with seriousness and vigilance.

In the darkness, the outlines of the trees became twisted and ferocious, like menacing monsters ready to pounce on them at any moment.

The breaths of the three members of the Ma family condensed instantly in the cold air, then quickly dissipated.

Suddenly, a gust of wind howled past, whipping up the snow on the ground and forming a small snow tornado.

Ma Lihua instinctively covered her eyes with her hand. When she opened them again, she saw a white figure hanging on a tree in front of her.

Her heart skipped a beat. Oh my god! This really startled her.

"Grandma, there's something hanging on that tree!" She pointed to the tree in front of her.

"Lotus, go and take a look."

"Okay, Mom!"

Ma Hehua walked quickly closer, looked up, and saw that it was a woman.

It was a woman wearing a white robe, with long hair hanging down, obscuring her face.

Ma Hehua deftly reached out, wanting to brush the woman's hair aside, but stopped just before touching her. She was afraid to see the terrifying face hidden beneath the long hair.

"Won't it be too ugly? What if this thing scares my daughter?" Ma Hehua hesitated.

Forget it, let's take a look at what this thing is anyway.

She took a deep breath and abruptly pushed the woman's hair aside.

A bloodless face appeared before her, with eyes closed and lips bluish-purple.

Ma Hehua breathed a sigh of relief; it wasn't a particularly ugly ghost.

Just then, the woman suddenly opened her eyes, her empty gaze fixed on Ma Hehua, and a strange smile slowly rose from the corners of her mouth.

Ma Hehua turned and ran, her footsteps making a dull sound on the snow.

The female ghost secretly rejoiced; she was in for a feast tonight.

"Mother, Mother, come quickly! There's a ghost here. We can ask for directions now!" A joyful smile appeared on her face.

"Couldn't you have asked first before coming back?"

"Why?" Ma Hehua asked curiously.

"Why? You idiot! What if she runs away?" Ma Linghua felt angry.

"Oh right! How come I didn't think of that?" she exclaimed, looking as if she had just realized something.

Ma Lihua: "…………………………"

However, before the group could go looking for the female ghost, she came up to them.

"Hey! Little sister, I thought you ran away! I didn't expect you to come back with me! By the way, can you tell me where this place is? We're lost and we're heading up Ailao Mountain. Could you please give us directions?" Her rough voice echoed through the mountains and forests.

The female ghost didn't speak, but she did point the way for the three of them, her voice emanating a chilling tone.

"Just keep walking from here, and then you can go up the mountain."

"Alright, thanks a lot, sister. See you again sometime!"

After asking the questions, the group left.

Then the three members of the Ma family walked in the opposite direction she had indicated, which completely baffled the female ghost.

"Oh no, you've gone to the wrong place."

No matter what she said, the others acted as if they hadn't heard her.

"Tch! You can't believe a lie. Telling us to go east? That's obviously not a lie! We'll just go west. Don't you think so, Mom?"

She felt like she was incredibly smart.

Ma Linghua: "…………………………"

They didn't seem very bright, and she didn't really want to answer!
