After returning to Ailao Mountain, the group discovered that Shangguan Wenyan was missing, which relieved the three of them.
Ma Linghua frowned, lost in thought.
She knew that becoming a ghoul was not insurmountable, but the method of recovery was extremely complex and dangerous.
Ma Linghua recalled some records she had seen in ancient books, as well as notes and experiences written by the elders of the Ma family.
She said slowly, "Generally speaking, to restore a person who has become a ghoul, we first need to find the root cause of their transformation. Ghouls are usually formed due to the control of some evil force or resentment. We must find and resolve this root cause."
Ma Hehua, who was standing nearby, asked curiously, "Mother, how exactly do we do it?"
After a moment's thought, Ma Linghua replied, "This may require us to investigate further to see if there were any unusual events or objects that he came into contact with. Perhaps it was an evil talisman, or some kind of mysterious ritual."
After thinking for a moment, he added, "Then, we need to prepare some special magical artifacts and props, such as talismans that can purify evil and magical artifacts that can subdue ghouls."
Ma Hehua looked troubled: "But these things are hard to find... and we still need to treat Lihua's illness! We don't have time to prepare these things."
Ma Linghua rolled her eyes at her and said, "It's not now. We can try it when Lihua is better! Besides, didn't you notice when you were fighting the Corpse Demon? The Corpse Demon is powerful and may have all sorts of strange abilities. It might even mutate."
"Alright then! We'll talk about it after Pear Blossom recovers." Ma Hehua didn't care; whatever her mother said went, and she would just listen.
Shangguan Wenyan did not go back to his room to sleep. Under the cover of night, he left Ailao Mountain unnoticed and went down the mountain alone.
His eyes were dark and focused, fixed on the village at the foot of the mountain.
In the dim moonlight, his figure approached the village silently, like a ghost.
That Miao girl from earlier lives in this village. It seems some kind of evil within him drove him here.
Shangguan Wenyan's handsome face appeared somewhat distorted in the shadows, and his eyes revealed a sinister emotion.
He took light, yet slightly hesitant steps, gradually approaching the edge of the village.
The village was quiet, with only the occasional bark of a dog, which sounded particularly clear in the still night.
Shangguan Wenyan quietly avoided places that might attract attention, moving silently through the village's alleys and houses like a ghost.
As he approached the house where the Miao woman lived, he stopped and stood in the shadows, quietly watching the house.
A faint light shone from inside the room, like a glimmer of hope in the darkness.
His breathing became rapid, and the evil thoughts in his heart grew stronger.
The image of the Miao girl releasing insects to bite Li Hua kept flashing through his mind. Thinking of Li Hua's pitiful and frightened expression, as well as the terrified look in her eyes that she inadvertently revealed, made Shangguan Wenyan almost unable to control his killing intent.
He gritted his teeth, trying to calm himself down and dispel the bloodlust and impulse within him.
Shangguan Wenyan knew that his actions might have unexpected consequences, but he could no longer control his steps.
Just as he approached the house, a black cat suddenly darted past him, making a slight noise.
He frowned, stood still, listening to the sounds around him, his eyes completely black.
The appearance of the black cat seemed like an ominous sign, casting a shadow over everything in the village.
With a strange smile on his lips, Shangguan Wenyan slowly walked towards the door that was emitting light... He reached out his hand towards the door.
Then he passed through her. The Miao girl was already asleep. It was still dark at six o'clock, and the winter night was especially long.
By daybreak, the Miao woman was no longer on the bed; she had vanished.
At nine o'clock in the morning, it was still a bit cold. A slight chill seemed to linger over this world, unwilling to leave easily.
Ma Lihua sat in the medicine tub, looking rather unwell. The rising steam from the tub failed to completely dispel the troubles in her heart.
Her gaze was somewhat unfocused as it fell on Shangguan Wenyan, who was not far away.
His handsome profile, bathed in the cool morning light, resembled a meticulously crafted painting.
Shangguan Wenyan seemed completely absorbed in the book in his hands, his expression focused and serious, as if all the noise of the world had nothing to do with him.
Ma Lihua looked at him quietly, her thick eyebrows slightly furrowed, as if she were pondering a problem in the book.
His high, straight nose outlined a captivating line in the sidelight, and his tightly pursed lips revealed a resolute determination.
His skin appeared exceptionally fair under the light, as smooth and lustrous as mutton fat jade.
I have to say, this man is really handsome, even more handsome than her father.
Li Fagui: "……………………"
The little cotton-padded jacket is a bit drafty!
A hint of appreciation unconsciously crept into Ma Lihua's eyes, mixed with a touch of melancholy.
Shangguan Wenyan's fingers were long and nimble as he turned the pages of the book, each movement carrying an elegant rhythm.
He would nod slightly at times, and furrow his brows at others, completely immersed in the world of the book.
The white light shone on him, gilding his features with a faint golden edge, making him look even more otherworldly.
Some of the contents of the book puzzled him, but he could learn them slowly. It read, "The Secret Method of Dual Cultivation: The Upside-Down Phoenix and Luan Bird."
Ma Lihua sighed softly, feeling that she was in a very passive position.
