Chapter 21 The Last Supper



Despite the dim lighting, the three of them could see it very clearly: it was a family photo of Xiaoya's family. The photo was a little yellowed, but everyone had a happy smile on their face.

Xiaoya followed the three people's gazes and saw the photo. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she silently held them back.

Xiaoya's grandmother took out bowls and chopsticks and served food to the group. No one dared to eat until Xiaoya picked up her bowl and picked up some food. Only then did the three of them start eating.

The group was very hungry, so they ate very quickly.

After they finished eating, Xiaoya cleared away the dishes. The group looked at each other in bewilderment until Xiaoya led them to the courtyard to wash their faces, feet, and brush their teeth.

The night air in the countryside was exceptionally cool. After tidying up, the group sat down and listened to Xiaoya's conversation with her grandmother.

"Little Sprout, your little sprout has grown up and become more beautiful. You'll definitely be loved by everyone in the future." She smiled kindly, but there was a hint of reluctance in her smile.

Xiaoya felt a pang of sadness, but she still forced herself to say, "Grandma, don't worry! I'll study hard in the future, and when I make a lot of money, I'll take you to the city to enjoy life. Grandma, please... please don't leave me?"

The old woman paused, then sighed and smiled, "Little Sprout, you... you still figured it out. Grandma has always known you were a thoughtful and clever child. Even though Grandma is no longer here, I can rest assured."

Xiaoya suddenly stood up, tears streaming down her face like a breached dam. She cried out, "Grandma, don't leave me! You're my only family left! Grandma, please don't go!"

"Little Sprout, Grandma has saved all the money for you, and this old house is also for you, so that you will have a home and something to look forward to when you come back. From now on, you will have to rely on yourself. Grandma doesn't have much time left."
