Suddenly, the crying became clearer and more piercing, as if it were ringing right next to their ears.
Mao Xiaofeng couldn't take it anymore. She collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down her face. "Let's leave here first!" she cried out.
Ma Linghua thought for a moment, "Let's go! Let's talk outside first!" The group got up and walked towards the door.
Only the old man remained seated firmly in his chair, seemingly resting with his eyes closed.
But when they opened the door, they found that the hallway was filled with a thick fog, and they couldn't see the way ahead at all.
Mao Xiaofeng shone her flashlight around and saw that the thick fog seemed to be alive, constantly churning and rolling.
"What...what should we do?" Mao Xiaofeng's voice was trembling with tears.
Ma Linghua took a deep breath. "Don't be afraid, we're here! We'll keep you safe."
"Lotus, go and see which fool is causing trouble."
"Okay, Mom!"
Ma Hehua drew a large knife from behind her back and stepped into the thick fog.
With every step I took, I could feel an unknown, menacing aura approaching.
The sound of weeping echoed around her, as if invisible hands were manipulating the magnetic field.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Ma Hehua arrived at the stairwell.
But the outside world was still shrouded in dark clouds, with raging winds and torrential rain.
Just then, a torrential downpour began outside, making the weather not only even more gloomy but also somewhat oppressive.
At that moment, a huge bolt of lightning struck down from the sky in the neighborhood, hitting them directly.
When Ma Hehua saw this, she exclaimed, "Oh my god! This is terrifying!" Without saying a word, she used her Shadow Steps technique to get to Ma Lihua's side.
"Quick, Mother, hide here with me."
Ma Hehua lifted her daughter above her head, while Ma Linghua pulled Mao Xiaofeng to hide under Ma Lihua's body.
At midday, the lightning bolt, while striking the pear blossoms, suddenly took a detour.
Mao Xiaofeng: "……………………"
She really learned something new; even lightning can change direction.
After a clap of thunder, all was quiet. They got up and found that the dark clouds had not dispersed.
But the neighborhood returned to its usual tranquility, as if everything that had just happened was just a dream.
Mao Xiaofeng stared blankly at everything, still feeling lingering fear.
The three members of the Ma family didn't look too good. It was the New Year, and they were already having such bad luck. Moreover, this building must have a lot of vengeful spirits.
"What exactly is going on?" Mao Xiaofeng muttered to herself.
Ma Linghua shook her head. "I can't explain it either, but this place isn't very auspicious."
"Oh no, the old man is still inside!" Mao Xiaofeng suddenly remembered the old man.
"Sister, listen to my advice, you should get a divorce as soon as possible!" Ma Linghua said seriously.
"No way! I've been working on this for months, I can't just give up like this." Mao Xiaofeng was the type who would rather die than give up money.
"Are you still coming to my house for dinner?" she asked cautiously.
"Eat up! How could I refuse your kindness?" It would be a coward not to take advantage of a free meal. Besides, they're not afraid of ghosts. If one comes, they'll kill it; if two come, they'll kill them both.
