The group set off in their car. It was almost seven o'clock. It would take six hours to get to Jiangcheng, assuming they were on the highway and there were no traffic jams.
Li Damao's cart was full of the belongings of the three women from the Ma family, as well as chickens and ducks.
Li Fagui brought his wife, mother-in-law, and daughter. The car was very luxurious, with everything he could want, which won over the three women of the Ma family.
After leaving the Black Mountain area, fog rolled in on Black Wind Village, and Yewa Zi, who hadn't dared to shout loudly for many years, started to shout out early this morning.
The Ma family's house was also shrouded in mist. Black Mountain and Black Wind Village were now terrifying, with strange cries coming from all directions and overlapping shadows visible everywhere.
As they passed through the town, a woman in a white dress stopped Li Damao's car.
Li Damao didn't want to pay any attention to it, but then he heard his grandmother open the car window and say casually, "Damao, give her a ride! It's on the way anyway."
Li Damao reluctantly opened the locked car door. "Get in!"
He would never open the door for a woman; even sitting in the passenger seat made him feel uncomfortable.
"Thanks!"
The woman's voice was somewhat cold.
When she got into the car, Da Mao almost couldn't hold his breath.
Not only did the woman look filthy, but her clothes were also stained with some kind of red dye or something, and the stench was so foul it made me want to vomit.
With no other option, he opened all the windows and waited until the smell had mostly dissipated before he could breathe more easily.
After driving for an hour on country roads, they passed through a grove of trees and saw a tollbooth; they had arrived at the highway entrance.
The highway is really something else, there are so many cars, it looks like there's a traffic jam. Li Fagui stuck his head out of the window and took a look, and then heard the people who had opened their car windows say something.
"This is really weird, why are there so many car accidents today?"
"That's right! There was a car accident this morning that killed someone, and now there's another one."
"It's here...it's here...Breaking news, a family of three died up ahead, their bodies were mangled and bloody, it was truly horrific."
How did he die?
"They crashed into a large truck. They were really unlucky. They were sandwiched between two large trucks. The truck behind them couldn't brake in time, and the family of three was crushed to pieces by the two trucks."
Upon hearing this, Li Fagui couldn't help but imagine how terrible it would be, and he shuddered.
Looking back, his three women were either scrolling on their phones, reading books, or casually snacking, seemingly ignoring everyone else.
Li Fagu; "……………………"
Okay! He's overthinking things. With his abilities, this kind of thing probably won't happen to them.
Li Damao's situation was not so good. Not only was the temperature in the car getting lower and lower, but he also felt a chilling coldness clinging to his skin.
Da Mao glanced at the woman, his body shivering slightly from the cold, and asked, "Are you cold?"
"It's not cold."
The car was parked, and the night lights were exceptionally bright. When the woman spoke, her mouth was close to his shoulder, and a strong chill sent shivers down his spine.
Da Mao was a smart man, and he quickly realized something was wrong. After his initial panic, he immediately calmed down.
The woman's eyes were fixed on the tollbooth ahead. She had been going around in circles for the past few days, unable to leave Pingxi Town no matter what she did.
When she saw the car covered in black soil, she decided to give it a try, but the man wouldn't open the door for her, so she couldn't get in. She only got in after hearing that strong female voice.
She had seen that woman before; she was one of the three strange women on the mountain.
Poor Da Mao didn't know the woman in his car was a ghost at the time. Now that he's realized it, his calm (but inwardly panicked) face shows no emotion.
He quietly turned off the air conditioner, then took out his phone and pretended to look at it, but actually he was frantically sending messages to his dad.
Da Mao: [Dad, help! The woman in my car isn't human.]
Li Fagu (father): [Don't be afraid, your grandma is here. What can she do? Don't worry!]
The woman glanced at Da Mao, her crimson eyes filled with malice, and he also saw the woman's eerie smile.
Da Mao: [Dad, are you really okay? I saw her smile at me.]
Li Fagui (Dad): [Isn't it normal for girls to smile at you? You're handsome; didn't all the girls used to smile at you? What's the big deal?]
Da Mao thought to himself, "That makes sense! He really is handsome, and all the girls who see him give him friendly looks! You must be overthinking it."
He turned around and was almost scared to death; the woman had changed her appearance at some point.
Her pristine white dress was stained with sewage and mud, but what was most frightening was the large hole in her chest; the dark, gaping hole made it seem as if some wild beast was lurking there.
Just as Da Mao was about to drop his phone and the woman was seething with resentment, a clear bell rang out.
Ma Hehua impatiently hung the bell back on her waistband, wondering what her mother was thinking, what was she doing with that big hair?
That coward Da Mao must be scared to death right now.
After the bell rang, the female ghost Tang Xueli instantly transformed back into her delicate and innocent appearance before she died.
Her lost rationality cleared considerably. Looking at the handsome man beside her, who was staring at her with terrified eyes, she lowered her head.
Da Mao was indeed almost scared to death, but he was very close...
He was drenched in sweat, his lips were pale, and his face was ashen.
"I'm sorry, I startled you."
A clear and pleasant sound rang out; it was Tang Xueli apologizing.
"It's...it's okay." Da Mao gripped the handlebars so tightly that he almost pinched his hand until it bled.
The road ahead was clear, but it took another hour. As they passed the scene of the car accident, Tang Xueli smiled strangely.
After getting into Li Damao's car, she finally left that small town. The red light in her eyes was faint. Once she left, there was no turning back.
The speed on the highway was really fast, and the car was very stable. It was 11 p.m.
"Snoring...snoring...snoring...pitting pitting pitting..."
Ma Hehua's sweat was so heavy it was like thunder, but it didn't affect the sleep of the grandmother and grandson at all.
Li Fagui sighed helplessly. His wife still liked to sweat, and he wondered if she washed her feet diligently when he wasn't around.
Da Mao, seeing that Tang Xueli had been behaving herself for a while, couldn't help but strike up a conversation.
"What's your name? Where do you live? Where do you work? How did you die?"
Tang Xueli was surprised that he actually dared to talk to her, and she replied, as she hadn't had a conversation with anyone in a long time.
"Tang Xueli, a native of Jiangcheng, was in college. How did she die? I don't know." Her words were full of confusion.
Da Mao was dumbfounded. He didn't even know how he died? Now that he's a ghost, who can he take revenge on?
Seeing Da Mao's bewildered expression, she then began to recount her family background in fits and starts.
