"Nanzhao? The mirage beasts in the mirage are yours to raise." Ma Lihua said with certainty, her gaze like a sharp arrow, shooting straight at Yunzhi.
“That’s right. We use the mirage beast to hide, to find offerings for us, and to trap people in illusions.”
As Yunzhi spoke, she became more and more agitated. Her originally calm face gradually became distorted, and a fanatical light flashed in her eyes, like a hungry wolf that had been hiding in the shadows for a long time and was finally able to reveal its ambition.
Her hands waved incessantly, as if she were painting a grand yet wicked picture.
"Unfortunately, it seems to have had bad luck."
As Yunzhi walked, she swayed her waist, the way she moved her waist had an indescribable strangeness, each step seemed to have a rhythm, yet it also revealed a kind of evil.
Her eyes never left Ma Lihua's face, as if trying to find a trace of fear or surprise in Ma Lihua's expression.
Ma Lihua stood quietly, her expression unwavering; her heart was like a deep pool, calm and undisturbed.
"After going around in circles, we're back again."
She knew that she wouldn't meet the person from that time at this point, but she didn't show the slightest disappointment or anxiety.
What is your purpose?
She asked Yunzhi very directly, her voice steady and calm.
Upon hearing this question, Yunzhi suddenly stopped twisting her waist, as if a pause button had been pressed.
She was taken aback at first, then let out a sharp laugh that echoed in the silent space, as if it were about to pierce one's eardrums.
"Our purpose? Our purpose is immortality. There are so many beautiful things in this world that we don't want to disappear with time. And those sacrifices are the key to our immortality."
Yunzhi's eyes revealed a kind of crazy greed, and her lips trembled slightly, as if she could already see the gate to immortality opening to her.
Ma Lihua frowned slightly. "Immortality? You think you can achieve immortality through such cruel methods? That's nothing but wishful thinking."
Her tone was tinged with disdain, and her eyes were filled with contempt for Yunzhi's crazy idea.
Yunzhi, however, was unconvinced. She sneered, "What do you know? You mortals will never understand the allure of immortality. What does sacrificing a few mortals matter if one can live forever?"
Her hands were clenched into fists, as if she were defending her beliefs.
Ma Lihua took a step forward, her aura suddenly intensifying. "Your actions, which defy the laws of nature, will ultimately be punished."
Yunzhi was startled by Ma Lihua's sudden aura and took a small step back, but she quickly regained her balance, and her arrogant expression returned. "Punishment? I'd like to see who can punish us."
"This world is governed by cause and effect, and immortality is not impossible. However, in dimensional space and with insufficient civilization level, even becoming an immortal is extremely rare. Immortality? It's nothing but a pipe dream."
Ma Lihua's voice was cold and ruthless, like the cold wind in winter, capable of freezing all the passion in the world.
Her gaze was cold and ruthless, as if she had seen through the vanity of this world and looked down on Yunzhi's crazy fantasies from a higher perspective.
"What do you know?"
Yunzhi became agitated. Her face flushed red, and her eyes burned with fury. Her originally delicate features became somewhat distorted due to her anger.
However, then, as if she had thought of something, a strange smile suddenly appeared on her lips.
That smile was full of disdain for Ma Lihua, and it seemed to hide a huge, unknown conspiracy.
"Once I activate the altar, I will be able to live forever. There is a legend among the Jiuli tribe that as long as one finds the legendary elixir of immortality, one will never die."
Yunzhi is now acting very arrogantly.
She tilted her head back high, her eyes gazing upwards at the sky, as if the elixir of immortality was within reach.
Her body swayed slightly as she spoke, as if she were already immersed in a beautiful dream of immortality.
She was completely different from the meek and humble person she had been in front of that old man.
In front of the elderly, Yunzhi always behaved well and sensibly. Her eyes were always filled with reverence, she spoke softly, and she was careful in every move, as if she was afraid of offending the elderly.
Back then, she was like a docile sheep, but now she's like a wolf blinded by desire, greedily gazing at the unreachable sky.
"Once I give birth to the saintess, the altar will be completed in its final stage."
As Yunzhi spoke, her face was filled with a frenzied and twisted excitement. She gently touched her slightly flat stomach, as if she were caressing the most precious treasure in the world.
Her eyes were full of longing for the future. In her fantasy, once she gave birth to this so-called saint, she would enter the hall of eternal life, and all the glory, wealth and endless life would belong to her. The sacrifices she had to make for this were already insignificant in her eyes.
Ma Lihua gave her a look that was hard to describe; her eyes contained indifference, disdain, and a hint of pity.
"They acted too quickly! I wonder if Uncle Chen is still alive." Ma Lihua was filled with worry. She seemed to see the tragic end of Deputy Chen, who was used and then ruthlessly abandoned.
Old Master Tao stood aside, seemingly unconcerned about whether Deputy Commander Chen lived or died.
His mind was entirely focused on the momentous event of opening the altar.
All he knew was that this man now had considerable value to him.
On Tao Lao's wrinkled face, there was not a trace of pity, only a longing for his mission and an eagerness to open the altar.
