The three of them struggled to move forward in the Gobi Desert, where the scorching sun poured down relentlessly, as if trying to melt the land.
The silence was shattered when Ma Hehua stepped on the skull.
"Skull, Mother, I stepped on a skull."
Ma Linghua rolled her eyes, her helpless expression even more vivid in the sweltering heat.
Ma Linghua: "…………………………"
You not only stepped on skulls, you also ate people!
She rolled her eyes. "What are you afraid of? Do you think he's going to bite you?"
After being reminded by his mother, Ma Hehua became bolder and kicked the skull away.
Just then, a cloud of dust rose in the distance.
Gradually, a caravan came into view. The camels of the caravan moved with steady steps, and the camel bells made a dull sound in the heat.
The merchants wore wide-brimmed hats and heavy cloth robes to protect themselves from the sun and sandstorms.
Their faces were tanned dark, but their eyes revealed a resolute determination.
The leading merchant rode a brown steed, its mane billowing in the wind. He gripped the reins tightly and scanned his surroundings warily.
The camels in the caravan were laden with heavy goods, all wrapped up tightly.
Some camels are decorated with colorful strips of cloth, which stand out against the monotonous Gobi Desert background.
As the caravan drew closer, the three could hear the merchants talking and the camels panting.
The caravan stopped not far from them. The leading merchant dismounted and walked towards the three of them. His footsteps left deep footprints in the sand, and as he got closer, large beads of sweat could be seen rolling down his cheeks.
He scrutinized the three members of the Ma family with a mixture of doubt and caution in his eyes, while Ma Hehua also looked curiously at the suddenly appearing caravan.
Who are you?
"We are women."
man:"……………………"
Ma Hehua rolled her eyes. Wouldn't they ask? Who are they? This is such a vast Gobi Desert, can't they just go their own way? Did they take a fancy to her mother and daughter's beauty?
Ma Hehua immediately became alert.
Upon hearing Ma Hehua's reply, the caravan men were momentarily speechless, a hint of embarrassment appearing on their faces.
Ma Hehua crossed her arms over her chest, glancing sideways at the man, her heart filled with displeasure.
She thought to herself that the man's question was inexplicable; they were in the middle of nowhere, so who cared who they were?
Ma Lihua stood to the side, her expression calm, but a hint of wariness was visible in her eyes.
She gently tugged at her mother's sleeve, signaling her not to act impulsively.
Ma Hehua stood still, still staring fiercely at the man.
The wind howled across the Gobi Desert, whipping up gusts of yellow sand. The man cleared his throat, seemingly trying to ease the awkward atmosphere: "This Gobi is dangerous. What are you women doing here?"
Ma Hehua snorted and said, "What's it to you? We'll go our way, you go yours."
After saying that, she kicked a small pebble at her feet into the distance.
The man shook his head helplessly and returned to the caravan.
Ma Hehua watched the man's retreating figure, remaining vigilant. She felt there was something strange about his appearance.
"Mother, I suspect they are not human."
Watching them leave, Ma Hehua whispered furtively to Ma Linghua.
"You already know they're not human, so what are you still doubting?" She was so angry.
"I knew it! I'd already figured it out, but I wanted you to confirm it, Mother."
Ma Lihua: "……………………"
Her mother has become clever again!
"Alright, I know what you're thinking the moment you lift your butt. But speaking of which, it's really dangerous for a few women to travel alone. Why don't we go with that caravan?" Ma Linghua's eyes darted around quickly; the ghosts' clothes made them look very wealthy.
"Hey! Mother, no need. I can protect you and Lihua. I feel incredibly strong right now."
"Yeah?"
Ma Linghua's sinister voice sent chills down Ma Hehua's spine. What was going on? Why was her mother angry again?
"Alright, you're more trouble than you're worth. Everyone put on a mask and let's go rob the rich to help the poor."
Upon hearing this, Ma Hehua became very excited. Apart from a few times when she was little, her mother had taken her to do chores, and after giving birth to Lihua, she no longer played with her.
At that moment, her eyes lit up, and she rubbed her hands together excitedly.
Ma Linghua then took out several white face masks from her bundle and distributed them to them.
Ma Hehua quickly put on her mask, revealing only her bright eyes. In her mind, she could already picture the treasures filling the merchants' packages.
Ma Lihua obediently put on a mask and tugged at Ma Linghua's sleeve.
"Grandma, isn't it the same whether we wear masks or not?"
After all, we've already met!
Ma Linghua patted her head. "If we don't admit it, then we're not us."
Her grandma is a real dog.
Seeing Hehua's excited expression, Ma Linghua kicked her in the buttocks.
"Speak less and do more later."
"I understand, Mother."
The three used the Ghostly Shadow Steps to run ahead of the ghosts, carefully observing the direction their caravan was heading, and considering the best place to make their move.
The sandstorms in the Gobi Desert continued to rage, and the three members of the family stealthily moved toward the caravan through the sandstorm, their movements extremely shady.
Ma Hehua's heart was pounding; she was both nervous and excited.
She followed closely behind her mother, glancing around every now and then.
Ma Linghua walked steadily, her eyes always fixed on the target ahead.
