As dawn broke, Kyoto seemed shrouded in an eerie veil.
Ordinary people are oblivious, but the demonic aura surrounding him is like an invisible rope, tightening every inch of air. The miasma is like a surging, turbid wave, rushing in from all directions, pressing heavily on the chest. Every breath is filled with a chilling cold that pierces the heart, as if to freeze one's very spirit.
As Li Panmei and her family stepped out of the airport, the cold wind swept past them like a sharp knife, causing them to instinctively shrink back, as if they were quails caught in the cold.
"The weather in the capital is several times colder than in Haicheng, it feels like falling into an ice cave!"
While stamping her feet, Li Panmei shouted at Li Dafu, "Dafu, quick, give me another layer of clothing, I'm freezing!"
Li Dafu hurriedly pulled his suitcase and found a corner to rest. When he opened the suitcase, he frowned. There were very few clothes inside, and no trace of his thick clothes.
He scratched his head, looking embarrassed, and stared at the box for a long time before stammering, "Dad! There aren't any warm clothes. How about we wrap ourselves in a blanket and make do?"
"Alright, alright, hurry up and bring it over, or this old man of mine will freeze to death."
Li Panmei wrapped her thin clothes tighter around herself and stamped her feet to urge him on.
Su Zhenzhu rolled her eyes, crossed her arms, and scolded, "You're the only one in the family dressed so lightly. I told you a thousand times before you left, but you wouldn't listen. This cold weather in the capital is really teaching you a lesson. Let's see if you still mess around like this. You're such a troublemaker!"
Although she scolded him, she helped straighten the blanket and wrapped it around Li's father's shoulders. The family then hailed a taxi in the chilly air.
Outside the airport, a cold wind howled, blowing up the fine snow on the ground, which scattered like grains of salt.
Li Erfu hunched his shoulders, looking around with a puzzled expression, and muttered, "Dad, why isn't there a car to pick us up?" His voice carried a hint of expectation, but it was also carried away by the cold wind.
Li Panmei was already annoyed by the chill and trivial matters. Upon hearing this, she instantly exploded like a firecracker. She stiffened her neck, widened her eyes, and roared, "Hmph! You're not without legs or brains, why do you need a private car to pick you up? I don't even get that kind of treatment, are you dreaming?" Veins bulged on her forehead, and spittle condensed and dispersed at the corners of her mouth.
He wasn't even picked up by his mother, what is he thinking?
Li Erfu was stunned by the sudden outburst of anger. He stood there dumbfounded, his eyes filled with innocence and confusion. His mind was a jumbled mess, and he couldn't figure out which words had touched a nerve with his father.
Seeing this, Su Zhenzhu quickly stepped forward, patted Li Panmei's arm lightly, and changed the subject with a smile but with a hidden cunning: "Alright, alright, why bother arguing with the child? The snow scenery in the capital is quite nice."
After saying that, he raised his hand and pointed to the snow-covered streets in the distance, where the branches were heavy with snow, like white clouds falling down, about to fall.
Before everyone could catch their breath, Su Zhenzhu changed the subject, her expression serious and slightly nervous as she instructed, "By the way, remember to introduce my parents to me later, I can't be impolite."
Upon hearing this, Li Dafu and Li Erfu were so shocked that their jaws almost dropped to the ground. Their eyes widened in disbelief, and they wondered to themselves: What's going on? Mom has never met Grandpa and Grandma?
Li Panmei didn't pay much attention to her sons' reactions. Lost in her memories, she narrowed her eyes slightly, smiled, and said leisurely, "Alright, I know. Just don't say anything. My mother hates talkative people."
His tone was tinged with intimacy and pride, as if he were still that child yearning for his mother's love, overjoyed that his mother had finally remembered him, completely oblivious to the astonishment of those around him.
The cold wind still blows, but it seems unable to dispel the unique atmosphere of this family.
A cold wind blew, and at the entrance of the courtyard, a pair of red lanterns swayed in the wind like flickering red fireballs. The two characters "Li Mansion" on the plaque were written in strong and elegant strokes, exuding an extraordinary aura. Li Panmei and her family had just stopped when they were stunned and stood there dumbfounded.
"This...this must be a wealthy family's house!"
Su Zhenzhu murmured, her eyes wide with amazement.
The grand mansions she had only ever seen on television were now vividly before her eyes. The bricks and stones were ancient and the carved beams were exquisite, but the grandeur made her feel uncomfortable. She didn't know where to put her hands and feet, and she nervously tugged at the hem of her clothes, completely forgetting that her own family was also a wealthy family.
The door was open, seemingly welcoming the returning guests, but in reality, it was because Ma Lihua was returning home that she had conveniently provided assistance to Li Panmei and the others.
Just as he was hesitating, Li Zhaomei's voice came. He was sweeping the snow in front of the steps with a broom in hand. When he saw who it was, he smiled and teased, "Oh! Let me see who's here?"
Li Panmei quickly put on a smile: "Big brother, it's been a long time! You've come back and started working right away, you're truly a role model for your brothers!"
Their words were a mix of warmth and banter.
Li Zhaomei gritted her teeth, her smile not reaching her eyes, "Panmei, not to criticize you, but you've come at the worst possible time. There's just so much to do at home!"
The tone was half complaint and half declaration, but Li Panmei understood. In this family, there were few leisurely days and many busy affairs in the past. Blessings always revolved around her mother and sister.
"Alright, what are you standing at the door for? Come in!"
Li Zhaomei turned her head and shouted, "Uncle Fu, my brother is here! Take them to their room! My mother is waiting!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Uncle Fu seemed to walk out from the shadows of time, his posture upright, his face kind, exuding a refined and cultured air. He bowed slightly and said, "Young Master Panmei, please come with me!"
Li Panmei subconsciously scrutinized Uncle Fu from behind. His physique and demeanor exuded the discipline and sophistication cultivated by this grand mansion.
He coughed lightly and led his family of seven, a large group yet cautious, following behind.
The two children looked around curiously, their eyes sparkling with wonder. Su Zhenzhu held her husband's arm, her expression tense yet trying to remain calm.
