Chapter 493 The Corpse Was Stolen

Night fell like thick ink, pressing heavily over the capital city, and the hospital's pale lights trembled in the deathly silence.

Li Fagu's voice broke the unsettling silence of the ward: "By the way, where's Lihua?"

His brows furrowed into a knot, his eyes filled with suspicion. How could Lihua, who had always been the backbone of the family, be absent from such a life-or-death matter?

"Pear Blossom has her own things to do."

Ma Linghua's voice trembled slightly, and her deliberate composure was easily seen through by Li Fagui.

His heart skipped a beat, and an ominous premonition tightened around his heart like vines. He thought to himself: Pear Blossom must have also met with misfortune.

Ma Linghua then instructed, "Hehua, you stay here and guard your father. I'm going out for a bit."

"Okay, Mom! Don't worry! I'll definitely take good care of my father." Lotus patted her chest, her voice clear and crisp, trying to dispel the gloom that filled the ward, but the panic she couldn't hide still quietly leaked out.

She then looked at Li Fagui, her gaze leaving no room for doubt: "Fagui, go home and bring the bronze mirror from under our pillows to the hospital right now."

"I understand, Mother."

Li Fagui responded, and the three of them took their orders. Ma Linghua then hurriedly left the ward.

The cold wind was like a knife, cutting through the night. Ma Linghua was caught in it, and the mysterious power emanating from her body was like phosphorescent light dancing in the darkness.

In the blink of an eye, she moved like a ghost, using only half of her profound energy to teleport back to Black Wind Village.

The tiles under her feet creaked as she reached out and grabbed a red lotus flower hidden in the shadows on the roof. The lotus flower seemed to have been asleep for a thousand years, and it trembled slightly when disturbed.

Ma Linghua hugged Xue Lian tightly, her chapped lips trembling as her voice seemed to drift from the deepest hell: "The things in Black Mountain cannot be released. My Ma family cannot lose its lineage. Xue Lian, go find Li Hua and make sure you accompany her to give birth to an heir."

After saying that, a resolute glint flashed in her eyes, and without hesitation, she bit her finger, the crimson blood rolling down and landing on the blood lotus.

In an instant, Blood Lotus seemed to be awakened as a demon, its body radiating an eerie red light. The light flickered and twisted, making the old woman's face appear unpredictable and as pale as paper.

The wind howled and tugged at the corner of the old woman's clothes. She stared intently at the blood lotus, as if trying to imprint all her heartfelt wishes onto it.

Blood droplets merged into the petals, and wisps of blood energy circulated. As if it understood the command, the blood lotus swayed slightly, then rose into the air and transformed into a streak of blood light, shooting off into the distance with a "whoosh".

She swayed and almost fell, leaning against the eaves panting heavily, her eyes fixed on the direction where the blood lotus had disappeared.

Black Wind Village was eerily quiet at this moment, with only the occasional heart-wrenching screams of Night Witch echoing through the air, adding to the desolation.

Ma Linghua regained her senses, clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, the stinging pain clearing her muddled thoughts somewhat.

She knew that a storm concerning the survival of the Ma family was about to break out, and Lihua was at the center of the vortex. If she was not careful, the Ma family's centuries-old heritage would be destroyed.

Every time she thought of this, cold sweat would seep from her forehead and trickle down her cheeks.

She forced herself to stand up straight, took a deep breath, and prepared to return to the hospital.

The road ahead was shrouded in mist, but behind it lay the secret that the Ma family had guarded for a thousand years. She had no choice but to drag her weary body into the night once more, step by step, as if she were walking on a taut string of fate.

_

The dim light flickered in the room, casting jagged shadows. Ma Lihua's previously calm face instantly tightened. "Blood Lotus, could it be..."

She suddenly stood up, her skirt rustling, and warily looked around.

As if driven by a mysterious force, the blood lotuses emitted wisps of eerie red light that slowly swirled around her, an ominous aura emanating from them, stirring up an uneasy feeling in her heart like boiling water.

Grandma's words echoed in his ears. The secret the Ma family guarded weighed heavily—this Blood Lotus, connected to the Black Mountain Seal, was the key to the family's survival. It was usually kept secret, but now it was behaving strangely, which was definitely not a good omen.

Before the thought even finished, the Blood Lotus suddenly accelerated, drawing a strange arc in the air before "whooshing" into her stomach.

Ma Lihua groaned, her body swayed a few times, and she instinctively covered her abdomen with her hands.

After a brief moment of shock, her intelligence allowed her to instantly see through everything.

She leaned against the corner of the table and slowly spoke, her voice cold yet tinged with a hint of relief: "I come from the realm of gods. For ten thousand years, I was filled with murderous intent, slaying all the gods who had been moved by mortal desires. I am nothing more than an indestructible, ruthless, and desireless blade in the hands of the gods."

As she spoke, she gently stroked her lower abdomen, her eyes flashing with determination.

His spiritual power was sealed, his body was weak and powerless, and he was trapped in the evil god's game with no hope of escape.

But now, the presence of a new life inside her made her even more determined.

She knew that childbirth meant her body would be broken and exhausted, but she felt no fear.

A faint smile curled at the corner of his lips, as if declaring war without fear: "Since it has come to this, I will sacrifice this crippled body to protect you, and thus fulfill the mission of the Ma family."

A faint light emanated from its body, like a spark of hope bursting forth from a desperate situation.

Beneath the sinkhole lies a corner seemingly forgotten by the world, a deathly silence tinged with an eerie atmosphere.

Shangguan Wenyan, his black robe fluttering in the wind, stood ramrod straight on the rooftop, a faint smile playing on his lips, muttering to himself, "Honglian! Honglian, I didn't expect you to show yourself. Will my brother show himself too?"

The voice was light and airy, yet it couldn't hide the calculation and expectation within. The narrow eyes were fixed on the void, as if they could penetrate layers of space and reach the location of Ma Lihua.

He witnessed the Blood Lotus burrowing into the pear blossom's belly, his eyes dark and unfathomable, with a hidden surge of anger within them.
