Chapter 86 Oh no! It's actually Aunt Meng's wife!

The man with the 50 cents paused. "Set up a tent? Ha! Who knows if you'll live to live in it after you've set up the tent?"

He had also told the director that the place was eerie and only suitable for shooting horror movies. Little did he know, the director wanted to go for something big.

Wu Mao's lips curled up slightly. He wasn't going to play along with this suicidal act. Besides, he was just a supporting character, and he would leave as soon as his performance was over.

The creatures on that Black Mountain don't recognize anyone except his grandmother, his mother, and his sister.

He remembered from his childhood that a Taoist priest went in and never came out again. Later, when he went into the mountains with his mother to pick mushrooms, he saw a corpse dressed in Taoist robes.

The corpse was covered with dense wildflowers, which swayed even without wind, sending chills down his spine.

"Just make do for one night! We'll film tomorrow and get out of here as soon as possible," Wu Mao replied casually.

The family I'm staying at tonight is Aunt Meng's house. This is a place I used to frequent when I was a child. Aunt Meng's stone mill workshop is where the village helps everyone husk their millet.

They would give them 50 cents each time, but his father often used his good looks and quick wit to get Aunt Meng to give them 10 cents less.

He still vividly remembers the scene. Looking at the stone mill workshop, he seems to recall the heartache of his childhood.

Around 4 PM, the crew started getting ready for makeup, as it was getting dark.

Horror movies need to be filmed at night to create the right atmosphere, so everyone started getting busy.

Wu Mao plays the second male lead, paving the way for the female lead. In the end, he sacrifices himself by being eaten by a ghost, holding it back so that the female lead and the male lead can escape from this terrifying village.

"Hello, Teacher Wu. This is our first time working together. I hope you can give me some pointers." A pretty girl with exquisite makeup extended her hand.

Wu Mao grasped it, then quickly released it. "I wouldn't call it giving pointers, just do your best." His tone was indifferent and distant.

"Sophie, hurry up, rehearsal is about to start, come quick!" A man ran over quickly.

When she saw Wu Mao, her eyes lit up. "Teacher Wu, I'm a fan of yours. I'm so happy to see you. I just didn't expect you to take on this role. Your acting is really superb."

Sophie's face darkened, and then she said, "Brother Chong, let's go! Isn't this rehearsal?"

"Oh! Right, right! Let's go!" He said goodbye to Wu Mao as he walked.

"Hmph! Everyone wants to get close to Fifth Brother. Only you, Fifth Brother, have a good temper. If it were me, I wouldn't even bother with them."

Looking at his chubby assistant, he smiled slightly, "Xiao Peng, you have to be tactful. Sometimes, a small matter requires someone like this to solve it. Everyone has their use, so don't underestimate anyone, even an ant."

Xiao Peng seemed to understand but not quite. He scratched his head, feeling that Fifth Brother was indeed worthy of being a graduate of a prestigious university; his brain was indeed sharp.

This abandoned village has only been deserted for seven or eight years, but the surrounding area is overgrown with weeds and littered with animal carcasses.

It's fortunate that it was cold, so the smell wasn't too strong; otherwise, it would have stank horribly in the sweltering heat.

"Lin Chong, look at Su Fei with feeling, understand? You two have already done this five times. Teacher Wu has already done eight takes. If you're not serious, you can forget about eating." The director was furious. He wondered if he was blind to have chosen these two slobs.

Considering they'd be staying here for a day and a night, the director readily hired a chef. If they didn't finish filming by then, wouldn't that require extending the runtime? Wouldn't that mean increasing funding and costs?

As darkness fell, a chilling wind blew around them, and Sophie, dressed in thin clothes, couldn't help but shiver.

Lin Chong also felt a bit cold; the biting wind was really unpleasant.

So the two gritted their teeth and filmed it again with great care. Although the director wasn't very satisfied, at least they passed.

At seven o'clock, the chef prepared the meal. There were only about twenty people in the entire crew who came to Black Wind Village, no more and no less. While eating, everyone was discussing the scenes for the day. However, there was still a ghost scene to be filmed at nine o'clock that night.

That was a scene featuring only the female lead, and it had nothing to do with them, but they still had to watch from the sidelines.

"Da...da...da..."

A faint sound arose, but the noise was too loud for them to hear or care about. But the 50-cent army knew!

The sound of threshing rice husks sounds so familiar! But wait, the rhythm is wrong; it's not Aunt Meng's method.

Wu Mao quickly finished his meal and sneaked into the backyard. There he saw the threshing sticks moving up and down in the deserted workshop.

No! It's not that there are no people, there are people, but they aren't people, they might be ghosts.

Wu Mao swallowed hard. This method of husking rice was the same one used by Meng Da Niang's daughter-in-law, Xiao Dao, who had a difficult childbirth.

His forehead was covered in a thick layer of sweat, and he quietly slipped back into the front yard.

I'm going to die, I'm going to die! This little rice died in childbirth. I'm afraid it will become a vengeful ghost. Back then, Aunt Meng refused to send it to the clinic, and as a result, the baby was not born and the little rice hemorrhaged and died.

Wu Mao suppressed his fear and watched Sophie's exaggerated acting, speechless for a moment.

"Is anyone there? Is anyone there?" Sophie walked into an old house. The house was neatly furnished, but there was a black and white photo in the center of the room, which made Sophie scream in fright.

The microphones around her were filled with screams, some of which were quite shrill, and Sophie was so frightened that she couldn't get up.

The 50-cent party member was speechless. This is it? This dares to take on a horror film? Are you kidding me? Wasn't Director Guo supposed to have good taste before?
