Chapter 485 Calling the In-Laws to Invite

The group arrived at a villa halfway up a mountain. It was very large and surrounded by many trees, but they were all bare, adding to the desolation in the cold winter.

Ma Linghua got out of the car, glanced around, and pursed her lips. This place is not very good.

A row of well-trained servants stood at the door. Upon seeing Ma Linghua and the others, one of them immediately turned around and hurriedly went to report to the old lady.

"What? You're here? So fast! By the way, have you seen the Third Young Master?"

An old woman with jet-black hair but a face full of wrinkles asked anxiously.

She stood up, grabbed a fox fur coat and put it on, then, as if suddenly remembering something, patted her forehead and asked, "By the way, Ah Xiu didn't come, did she?"

"Madam, Miss Ah Xiu arrived a while ago, saying she wanted to wish you a Happy New Year in advance," the servant replied respectfully.

"Sigh! Well, they're here! It's time for us and her to meet the person that unfilial son has chosen."

The old lady sighed, her eyes revealing a hint of helplessness and resolve.

Ma Linghua and the others didn't have to wait long before Li Fagui arrived.

His Volkswagen was covered in dust after driving on the winding mountain roads, but it still performed well. It has to be said, that's pretty impressive.

"Mother, why don't we go inside?"

As soon as Li Fagui got out of the car, he asked loudly.

He had already informed his parents beforehand, so he should have been able to just walk in. Why were Ma Linghua and the others still standing outside?

"Hmph! How could I possibly go in if my mother-in-law didn't come to invite me? Don't you think so, Zhongguo?"

Ma Linghua turned to Li Zhongguo beside her and said, "Yes! That's right, Fa Gui! Go and call your mother out!" Li Zhongguo nodded and replied, "

"Okay, you wait here, I'll go in and take a look."

Li Fagui shook his head helplessly, wondering to himself what his mother was up to now.

He strode into the villa, passed through the spacious but somewhat deserted hall, and went straight to the old lady's room.

He's been to this place several times; he knows it very well.

All the way, he kept thinking about how to persuade his mother.

At this moment, the cold wind blew outside the villa, and the bare branches collided with each other, making a "rustling" sound, as if they too were trembling in anticipation of the tense atmosphere to come.

Before Li Fagui could even reach his room, he ran into his mother on the way.

"Mother, you've arrived? That's perfect! Come with me and invite Lotus Mother into the house!"

His matter-of-fact manner surprised the woman.

"What did you say? Bring her in? Humph! Is she trying to put on airs with us today?"

The old lady's voice suddenly rose, sharp and tinged with dissatisfaction and anger.

"Stop with the nonsense, tell me if you're going to answer or not?" Li Fagui didn't back down; he wasn't afraid of his mother here.

All of his family's property belonged to him; it was left to him by his grandfather. He held the land deeds and contracts in his hands, so he naturally had a strong backbone. At this moment, he put on the air of a big shot, his eyes revealing an unquestionable determination.

The old lady was so angry at his appearance that she trembled all over. She glared at her son fiercely, her eyes seeming as if she wanted to devour him.

But in the end, after weighing the pros and cons, she gritted her teeth, her silver teeth looking particularly menacing against the backdrop of her fox fur coat.

"Let's go! I'll take it."

Her words were squeezed out through clenched teeth, each one filled with resentment and bitterness, while in her heart she cursed: "That little beast, why didn't I drown him back then?"

She walked stiffly toward the door, her fox fur swaying slightly with her movements, as if telling of her inner resentment and helplessness.

Li Fagui followed behind, his expression cold and indifferent, seemingly oblivious to his mother's resentment. He was only focused on completing this necessary "welcoming ceremony" as quickly as possible so that the following matters could proceed smoothly. Little did he know that beneath this seemingly calm surface, undercurrents were already surging.

At this moment, Ma Linghua stood at the door with her eyes squinted. When she saw the old woman dressed in gold and silver, looking elegant and noble, she felt relieved.

"Welcome, in-laws, is this your first time here?" The old woman's lips curled into a faint smile as she spoke first.

“Hmph!” Ma Linghua responded coldly.

"You've probably never seen a house like this in your life! What do you think, isn't it beautiful?" The old woman's words carried a hint of boasting.

Li Fagu, who was standing to the side, was stunned. What was going on? Why was his mother acting like this? She was never like this before.

"Beautiful? My dear in-laws! I'm not trying to be mean, but this place is incredibly desolate and in a terrible location. It was exhausting to get here." Ma Linghua shook her head slightly, seemingly complaining, but actually trying to put down the other party's momentum.

After the old lady spoke to her, she looked Ma Linghua up and down. She had to admit that Ma Linghua was really young and beautiful, and she didn't look over eighty years old at all.

"Tired? Not at all! Most people would never see such a thing in their entire lives!" she replied with a forced smile, the smile not reaching her eyes, her words full of sarcasm.

"What are you being sarcastic about? My mother has seen it all. This is just a run-down place. Mom, she's probably out of her mind. Let's go inside! It's freezing outside."

Ma Hehua said impatiently, frowning, clearly annoyed by the atmosphere and wanting nothing more than to end the boring conversation and go inside.

Madam Li ignored Ma Hehua's rude words and carefully examined her, trying to guess who she was, but she couldn't figure it out for a long time.

Judging by her age, could she be the daughter of a wealthy family? But her words and actions are completely unlike those of a junior; she has absolutely no manners.
