Chapter 310 The Fox Arrives for the Wedding

"Alright, hurry up and get ready to go. Dinner will be ready soon." Ma Linghua put on her shoes.

Ma Hehua's expression changed, and she hurriedly tidied up. She had to eat quickly; those men not only ate a lot, but the canned meat they brought was delicious, and she had to go and ask for a few cans.

Under a large tree, about twenty people were grilling fish, each holding a few in one hand.

Ma Lihua's eyes darted around, and she turned to Chen Zhiqing's car. "Young Master, would you like some fish?"

Chen Zhiqing paused in his book, and a cool voice came from inside the car, "No need, I'm not hungry yet."

"Okay! I got it." Ma Lihua directly took a can of food.

Chen Zhiqing smiled slightly; Lihua was as lovely as ever.

"Lieutenant Chen, smell this, what does it smell like?" A soldier held a fish to Lieutenant Chen's nose.

Upon smelling it, Lieutenant Chen frowned. "Why does this smell just like my toes?" he immediately remarked.

"Hey! You bet! The guys are wondering if this fish is poisonous!"

I have to say, he was right.

"It's not poisonous. This fish is common in the river and is edible." Lieutenant Chen thought that food supplies were running low recently, and there were rebellions everywhere, so the food couldn't be wasted.

"It must be a problem with the water." As he spoke, he inserted a silver needle into the fish meat, and when he pulled it out, the needle hadn't turned black.

"See! It's not poisonous. Tell the brothers to eat it."

"yes."

So the group started eating, but the taste was indescribable, it felt a bit like spoiled food.

The three members of the Ma family ate canned food and flatbread, living a very carefree life.

After a short rest, it was the coolest part of the afternoon.

Ma Lihua, Ma Hehua, and Ma Linghua sat in a carriage, following the troops along the rugged mountain road.

The mountain forest at night seemed to be shrouded in a mysterious black curtain, with an endless eeriness permeating the silence.

The mountain road was winding and uneven, making every step difficult.

Countless cries rose and fell throughout the night, some sharp, some low, some mournful, as if they were lamentations coming from the underworld, sending chills down one's spine.

Lieutenant Chen's sharp eyes swept across the surroundings like a hawk. His upright posture made him appear like a solid fortress in the dark forest.

"Maintain formation and protect the young master!" His voice was steady and powerful, carrying an unquestionable authority.

Upon hearing the order, the surrounding soldiers immediately straightened their backs, gripped their weapons tightly, and vigilantly observed the surrounding movements.

Their eyes revealed determination and courage; despite their fear, they could not back down because of their duty.

Ma Hehua emerged from the carriage, her eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and unease.

Looking at the countless overlapping ghostly figures around her, she couldn't help but have a bad feeling.

The ghostly figures appeared and disappeared in the darkness, as if they might pounce at any moment.

A faint floral fragrance wafted in the air, an aroma that should have been pleasant, but now seemed strangely eerie.

Ma Hehua frowned, feeling somewhat irritated.

"Lotus, she's here."

Ma Linghua's voice was very calm, but it carried a deep meaning.

Ma Hehua was filled with doubt, for she knew who the "she" her mother was referring to was.

In this mountain wilderness, countless demons and monsters lurk, and "she" is one of them.

Ma Hehua's eyes turned cold. She puffed out her chest and said arrogantly, "There are so many demons and monsters in these mountains. Not only are they fat and fat, but they also want to eat anyone they catch. They're really something!" Her words were full of disdain and provocation.

However, despite hearing Ma Hehua's words, Deputy Officer Chen was filled with fear.

He knew that danger could strike at any moment in the dark forest.

Those demons and monsters lurked in the darkness, waiting for their prey to appear.

Ma Hehua drew her broadsword from behind her back and cautiously observed the surrounding movements.

Lieutenant Chen's heart was pounding, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

The troops continued their advance, taking each step with extreme caution.

The soldiers' footsteps sounded exceptionally clear in the silent forest, as if tolling a death knell.

Suddenly, a cold wind blew by, and the surrounding trees rustled.

The ghostly figures seemed to be summoned by something and began to become more active.

Ma Hehua calmly surveyed her surroundings, the large knife in her hand gleaming coldly.

She could feel a powerful force approaching, a suffocating sense of oppression.

"Everyone be careful!" Lieutenant Chen shouted, and the soldiers immediately formed a circle, protecting the young master in the middle.

The fragrance of flowers in the surrounding air became even stronger, as if it were tempting people to death.

Just then, a dark figure darted out from the woods at incredible speed, leaving no time for anyone to react.

A dark figure lunged at a soldier, instantly dragging him into the darkness.

The soldiers screamed in terror, raised their weapons, and fired countless shots.

However, the dark figure vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed.

Lieutenant Chen's face turned pale; he knew this was just the beginning.

Those demons and monsters won't let them off easily; there will be more attacks to come.

He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.

He looked at the lotus flowers and said, "We can't just sit here and wait to die; we must find a way to deal with this."

"The drums beat loudly and rhythmically," the sound of gongs and drums echoed one after another, sounding particularly loud in the quiet night.
