Chapter 52 Making Friends
Yu Shu accepted the bouquet of flowers and put them back inside.
Qi Shichen was teaching the children to play games in the courtyard, while Yu Shu was gently touching the bouquet inside the house.
Since entering adolescence, Yu Shu has had people who like him and people who pursue him, but without exception, they were all scared away by Yu Shu's indifference.
His senior brother also tried to stop him a lot. The person who persisted the longest lasted a year until the last person gave up.
He told others that Yu Shu had no heart.
How could a person not have a heart? It's just that the time hasn't come yet.
Some people, whether early or late, will not succeed if the timing and fate are not right. Everyone's thoughts and ideas are also different at each stage.
Ultimately, however, it depends on what your heart chooses.
In the afternoon, after lunch, Yu Shu asked the children to call the other children in the village to come and have class. Yu Shu spent the whole afternoon teaching the children, while Qi Shichen sat against the wall, basking in the sun with his eyes closed.
Like a tiger taking a nap.
The class continued until about 5 p.m., when Yu Shu let the children go home. Qi Shichen opened his eyes after Yu Shu said get out of class was over.
The children ran home excitedly, and Qi Shichen followed behind them, escorting all the children home.
He was like a dutiful bodyguard, protecting all the children Yu Shujiao taught.
In the past, Qi Shichen would not have cared about these things.
He has no compassion, and that's not just talk.
Yu Shu put the books back inside and told the two children to wash their hands, as it would be dinner time soon. The weather was nice today, with plenty of sunshine.
Yu Shu walked to the clothes drying area, touched their clothes. The clothes were almost dry and could be taken down, but it would be best to dry them a little longer, as they were still slightly damp to the touch.
As Yu Shu turned to go inside, she noticed a small child behind the side of the house. The child was holding a short twig and was intently writing something on the ground.
Yu Shu walked quietly to the child's side. Only when he got closer could he see that the child was writing on the ground with a twig, and the content he was writing was what he had taught the child that afternoon.
Yu Shu didn't know when the child had arrived. The child's earnestness touched Yu Shu deeply. The child's handwriting wasn't very good, but he was still trying hard to think about how to write the characters that Yu Shu had taught him.
Yu Shu squatted down in front of the child, who noticed a sudden shadow on the ground and looked up sharply.
The moment he looked at him, his eyes were wary, like a skinny little wolf cub. But when he saw that the person in front of him was that handsome young man who could read and write, his wariness instantly dropped. Instead, he gripped the twig and frantically scratched all the words written on the ground.
He didn't want the other person to know that he was secretly learning.
Only after Yu Shu and the other children had done these things did he speak gently.
"Hello, little friend, my name is Yu Shu."
"If you want to attend a class, your older brother can teach you."
Yu Shu extended his hand to the child, wanting to shake hands to show friendliness and dispel the child's wariness.
The child looked at the gentle, almost angelic older brother in front of him. His voice was so pleasant, and his hands were so clean and beautiful.
He himself was like garbage in a stinking ditch; he was dirty and smelly from head to toe.
"Who asked you to teach me?"
The child glared fiercely at Yu Shu, then got up and ran away.
Yu Shu was scolded by a child. He didn't understand what he had done wrong or why the child disliked him.
This child clearly loves learning, and he offered to teach the other person, thinking the child would be very happy.
Yu Shu felt a little wronged after being scolded by the child.
When Qi Shichen returned, he noticed that Yu Shu seemed a little down. After dinner, when he went back to his room, he asked Yu Shu about it.
"What's wrong? Why are you unhappy?"
Qi Shichen walked to Yu Shu's side, put his hand on Yu Shu's shoulder, and made him face him.
Yu Shu hadn't expected Qi Shichen to be so sensitive to his emotions.
Yu Shu was unsure whether he should seek Qi Shichen's opinion, but after careful consideration, he shook his head and did not explain the reason to Qi Shichen.
He didn't want his emotions to give Qi Shichen a bad impression of the child.
Yu Shu didn't want that child to have another person dislike him in a place where no one knew him; he felt sorry for that child.
Qi Shichen put his arm around the person's shoulder and pulled him into his arms.
Yu Shu was completely enveloped in his arms, Qi Shichen's chin resting on the top of Yu Shu's head, and an overwhelming sense of security surrounded Yu Shu.
"Yu Shu, is there something I did wrong that made you unhappy?"
"If there's anything I did wrong, you can tell me."
Qi Shichen held the person in his arms and coaxed him softly.
"No."
Yu Shu immediately refuted this, stating that it was not Qi Shichen's fault.
Upon hearing Yu Shu's answer, Qi Shichen had a pretty good idea of what was going on. Yu Shu was only concerned with a few things.
Either his pace is too fast, making it difficult for people to keep up, or it's those kids.
If it's not his own fault, then it must be the child.
After being hugged for two or three minutes, Yu Shu felt a little embarrassed, so she reached out to push Qi Shichen away and keep some distance between them.
Instead of letting go of Yu Shu's grip, Qi Shichen kissed Yu Shu from the top of her head down to her forehead.
Previously, when Qi Shichen kissed him without permission, he always kept a good distance and sense of propriety, only lightly kissing the hair on the top of his head, so as not to offend Yu Shu.
This kiss, however, was real.
Finally, Qi Shichen's kiss landed on Yu Shu's forehead.
A clear sensation came from my forehead.
"If you are unhappy about anything, or if there is anything you can't solve, you can tell me, and I will help you solve it."
"Don't feel like you're bothering me. I just want to be a part of your life and know every little thing about you, even the smallest things."
"I would be very happy to serve you; it would be my honor."
Qi Shichen said this.
Yu Shu was deeply moved by Qi Shichen's words, but he did not follow the other party's advice and reveal that small matter.
The two washed up early that evening. Yu Shu hadn't slept well for several days, and couldn't stay awake any longer, so he went to bed early. He didn't know that after he fell asleep, Qi Shichen was watching him in the dark.
Qi Shichen sat leaning against the wall, his hands behind his head. In the darkness, Qi Shichen licked his sharp teeth with the tip of his tongue.
Qi Shichen was deeply troubled by Yu Shu's concealment of even the smallest details from him. He had a strong desire for control and wanted to know every little thing about Yu Shu, even the smallest things.
Qi Shichen knew he was a patient hunter. He had set his sights on Yu Shu, so to hell with all that bullshit about fate and destiny, he left it to fate.
He said this only so that Yu Shu would be less resistant to his approach.
Qi Shichen is cold-blooded and has no compassion. How could he really let go? He wants Yu Shu to be with him, willingly, both physically and mentally.
Once he's made up his mind, he naturally won't let go.
Qi Shichen bent down and braced himself on top of Yu Shu.
In the darkness, Qi Shichen traced Yu Shu's features with his eyes, marveling to himself how someone could be so likable to him, so likable that he wanted to devour them piece by piece.
Qi Shichen leaned close to Yu Shu's lips and gently licked the crease of her lips. Then he sat up, tucked the blanket around Yu Shu, and lay back down in his own spot.
Goodnight, my little prince.
Qi Shichen silently said goodnight to his treasure, and then closed his eyes to rest.
Yu Shu slept until dawn. He woke up a little late, and this sleep made up for all the sleep he had missed before.
After getting up, Qi Shichen went out as usual.
Yu Shu didn't know what he did every day when he went out for several hours. In the morning, Yu Shu had the children review what he had taught the day before, and then had a few children quiz each other on what they had learned.
The morning's lessons were relatively simple, so Yu Shu told them to memorize them first and help each other.
Yu Shu himself took a walk around the neighborhood, mainly to see if he could run into the boy named Yang San.
Not far along the ridge, Yu Shu saw the child digging in someone else's field. Yu Shu did not speak up to stop him, but remained silent.
The child ran away after digging, without even looking back. Yu Shu followed him at a distance, and saw the child run back to the wooden house.
After returning to the cabin, the child went inside once, then came out with a stick and walked into the woods behind the cabin.
Yu Shu quietly followed him.
Yu Shu noticed the child had stopped beside a small mound of earth, which was about half a person's height. Yu Shu saw the child digging at something with a stick next to the mound.
He dug a hole that was neither too big nor too small.
Yu Shu saw that after digging for a while, he stopped to rest. After resting, the little boy lay in the pit, seemingly comparing sizes.
Yu Shu thought the child was just playing and didn't consider any other possibilities.
The child got tired after digging for a while and planned to continue digging tomorrow. He suddenly got up and turned around, and before Yu Shu could hide properly, he was discovered.
Yu Shu was caught red-handed by the kids and looked embarrassed.
"Can I be your friend?"
Yu Shu leaned against the tree trunk, somewhat embarrassed as he spoke to the child, who had left a deep impression on him.
He wanted to understand the other person.
The kind that comes from the heart.
Surprisingly, this time the child didn't reject him. Instead, after hearing his words, the child's eyes widened in disbelief.
Yu Shu felt sorry for the child who showed such an expression.
So he walked over to the child, and when he reached him, he extended his right hand once again.
"Hello, my name is Yu Shu. I'd like to be friends with you, is that okay?"
Yu Shu took this invitation to the children very seriously.
The child's eyes were slightly red. He wanted to reach out and shake hands with Yu Shu, but he had just dug in the mud and his hands were dirty. He withdrew his hand halfway out.
Yu Shu saw it, and then he quickly reached out and took the child's hand to complete the friendship ceremony.
After shaking hands, Yu Shu took the child's hand and hooked her little finger with the child's little finger.
"Hmm, I see that other kids do it this way. It's a promise, we have to pinky swear."
"Then we're good friends, we should pinky swear."
"Pinky promise, a hundred years from now."
After Yu Shu finished doing all that, he even made the two of them press their thumbs together to stamp a mark.
Yu Shubai's hands were covered in mud, but he didn't care at all. His actions were even more childish than those of the child in front of him.
"You're so boring."
Yang San spoke to him for the first time after they became friends.
