A different ending

It was as if time had been replayed.

Gu Hanzhi suddenly woke up and found herself sitting in that familiar restaurant, opposite Shen Zhihe. She was stunned at first, then looked down and saw that she was still wearing the same dark gray T-shirt and blue shorts. There was little food left on the table, and it was the moment when Shen Zhihe was about to take out the ring in her memory.

"Hanzhi, how are you?" Shen Zhihe asked with concern. "Are you tired? I see you've been lying down for quite some time. You should relax after the college entrance examination and stop thinking about studying."

Looking at the person in front of her, Gu Hanzhi's heart tightened. Since God had given her a chance, she didn't want to miss it again.

"Zhihe," she took a deep breath and spoke with difficulty, "I'm sick. I have advanced stomach cancer."

"It's probably incurable in China. Even with treatment, the success rate is only about 30%. I..."

Shen Zhihe was silent for a second, then held her hand: "I thought it was a small matter. I've saved a lot of money in the past few years. I heard that medical technology in Paris has been very advanced in recent years. We can try our luck there. When you recover, we can get married."

As he spoke, he opened the exquisite little box and gently pushed the ring in front of her: "But you must accept this ring."

Gu Hanzhi smiled, but tears welled up in her eyes: "Okay..." She regretted that she had never thought of this ending in her previous life.

She stretched out her hand and let the ring fit firmly on her ring finger. The cool touch made her sure that this time, she would not let go.

When Gu Hanzhi pushed open the door and her eyes fell upon the familiar figure in the living room, the emotions that had been pent up for days suddenly burst out. Tears rolled down her face without warning, and she finally leaned against the door frame and burst into tears.

Gu Songyi was sitting on the sofa sorting documents. He looked up at the noise and saw his sister's shoulders shaking with tears. He immediately put down his things and walked over quickly, his tone full of anxiety and youthful recklessness: "What's wrong, sister? Who bullied you? Tell me, I'll beat him up!"

Gu Hanzhi was amused by her brother's protective look. She wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand. Her voice was still choked with sobs, but she slowly raised the corners of her mouth: "Silly boy, I'm just... I'm just so happy to see you. By the way, about going to Country A..."

Before he finished speaking, Gu Songyi's eyes lit up and he slapped his head suddenly: "Oh! Sister, you are talking about this, I have already packed your luggage for you and put it in your room, so you can pick it up and leave at any time!"

Seeing her brother's face full of anticipation, as if to say "please praise me", Gu Hanzhi couldn't help but laugh out loud. She reached out and ruffled his hair, saying in a light yet firm tone, "Why are you in such a hurry, kid? You haven't booked your tickets yet, have you? I've changed my mind and want to go to Paris. You don't have to go this time. I want to go with your brother Zhihe."

Gu Songyi curled his face: "Why, are you worried that I will delay your love affair?"

Gu Hanzhi pinched his face and said, "Kid, why do you insist on traveling with us when you can just play ball or games with your friends during the holidays?"

Gu Songyi thought about it and nodded: "Okay, I'll give you two a world of your own. But remember to bring me some local specialties. Maybe if I'm happy, I'll call him brother-in-law."

Gu Hanzhi laughed out loud: "You little brat, okay, just tell me what you want."

"Then...snacks and postcards from your side." Gu Songyi raised two fingers. "Don't try to shirk your responsibility."

"Okay, I'll make sure to send it to you when I get back."

As soon as Gu Hanzhi sat down in the room, the group of four exploded.

Jiang Wanning: Holy crap, you two are going to have some time for yourself? @Gu Hanzhi, is this true?

Shen Zhihe: Go to Paris.

Jiang Wanning: No, Shen Zhihe, you actually stole my favorite best friend away. You are so unkind.

Shen Zhihe: Actually, you can pry my brother away.

Gu Hanzhi smiled and sent a line of words: I agree, plus one.

Lu Chenzhou: [blush] [blush] [blush]

Jiang Wanning: Get out of here! [Angry]

Gu Hanzhi looked at her phone and thought, this time, I must seize the opportunity.

In Paris, luck finally came to Gu Hanzhi. A renowned hospital evaluated her stomach cancer and concluded that it was highly likely that she would be cured. This news made her ecstatic, yet also made her secretly regret not having come here in her previous life.

With Shen Zhihe's companionship and encouragement, she actively cooperated with the treatment. Throughout the summer vacation, she slowly recovered in the sunshine and fragrance of books in a foreign country.

A miracle happened. After the summer vacation, Gu Hanzhi's illness was actually cured. She and Shen Zhihe successfully entered a famous university in City A.

During their college days, they attended classes and hung out in the library together, and their relationship grew stronger as they walked side by side.

Three years later, they chose to make a lifelong vow in Paris, where they first fell in love.

Beneath the church's vaulted ceiling, white veils danced lightly in the breeze, while golden sunlight streamed through the stained glass windows onto the newlyweds. Gu Hanzhi wore an elegant mermaid wedding gown, a pearl necklace gleaming softly around her shoulders; Shen Zhihe, in a meticulously tailored black tuxedo, his eyes filled with both fondness and determination.

"Wow, wow, wow..." Jiang Wanning, who was sitting at the main table in the front row, was crying so hard that the tissue in her hand was soaked.

"What's wrong with you? Are you in heat?" Lu Chenzhou handed over a new tissue with a look of disgust.

"What do you know...the couple I'm supporting...is getting married...how can I...not be happy?" Jiang Wanning took the tissue and spoke intermittently while sobbing.

Lu Chenzhou rolled his eyes, but silently poured her a glass of warm water: "Okay, okay, okay, as long as you're happy. Don't hurt your throat by crying, you still have to toast to the newlyweds later."

"Gu Hanzhi, from today on, whether you are poor or rich, healthy or sick, I will love you and cherish you forever." Shen Zhihe's voice was low and firm.

"Shen Zhihe, I am willing to spend my life with you. No matter the road ahead is smooth or bumpy, I will walk side by side with you." Gu Hanzhi had tears in her eyes, but she smiled very happily.

When the pastor announced they were husband and wife, the audience erupted in applause. Jiang Wanning excitedly stood up, waving the bouquet in her hand: "Ahhh! They're getting married! My couple has come true!"

Lu Chenzhou quickly pulled her back and said, "Sit down, sit down, and pay attention to your appearance. People will think you're crazy if you act like this."

"I don't care! Today is the happiest day of my life!" Jiang Wanning completely disregarded her image and her face flushed with excitement.

At the cocktail party after the wedding, the former Duchess Eleanor Wequ walked up to Gu Hanzhi, handed her an exquisite gift box, and said in unfamiliar Chinese: "Dear, congratulations. This is the wedding gift I prepared for you. I hope you will always be happy."

Gu Hanzhi accepted the gift and said sincerely but with a hint of surprise, "Thank you, Lady Eleanor. I didn't expect your Chinese to be so good. I'm very touched that you could come to my wedding."

Lady Eleanor smiled. "I'm happy to see you've found true love. And the groom is the cool guy you came with."

Gu Hanzhi smiled shyly. "Yes, at that time, I never thought that Paris would become the place where Zhihe and I would be in love, and I never thought that we would hold our wedding here today."

Shen Zhihe came over, held Gu Hanzhi's hand, and said to Lady Eleanor, "We will cherish this fate and live happily ever after."

Lady Eleanor looked at the newlyweds, a flicker of satisfaction in her eyes, and then she turned and left. Her back stretched out in the sunset, as if she was carrying away a dusty past.

As night fell, the banks of the Seine were illuminated with brilliant lights. The wedding banquet was held on a beautifully decorated boat, with guests toasting to each other, laughter and music intertwined.

Jiang Wanning was slightly tipsy and pulled Lu Chenzhou onto the deck. "Look, the night view of Paris is so beautiful! Just like Hanzhi and Zhihe's love, romantic and eternal."

Lu Chenzhou looked at the brightly lit river and said softly, "Yes, it's beautiful. I hope they can stay happy like this forever."

Jiang Wanning suddenly turned around and looked at him seriously: "What about us?"

Lu Chenzhou was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "We? Of course we are good friends forever."

A hint of disappointment flashed across Jiang Wanning's eyes, but she quickly regained her smile: "Yes, good friends forever."
