Chapter 147 Night Candle Rules 25 "I'll be with you."

The appearance of a name that shouldn't be there immediately created an awkward atmosphere. Startled, Brother Li looked up to see his two companions staring at him in disbelief. The leaders of the four major guilds were figures they might never even meet in their lifetime; they never imagined such a call would reach someone so close to them. As for the two people on the other end…

Sitting on the edge of the bed, the incredibly handsome young man looked at him calmly, seemingly unaffected by the title. The other man lying on the bed, who appeared to be injured, didn't even glance in their direction. Neither of them reacted.

Brother Li carefully withdrew his gaze, a fawning smile appearing on his face. "Chairman Zhang, yes, I am Li Fei. Please speak."

"...What? You mean the person in front of me is?!"

Brother Li was suddenly startled. A purple-named person had dropped the communicator in their hand. They frantically reached for it, but the microphone slipped from their ear. The sound was faint, but loud enough for all the reincarnators present to hear.

“Yes, there should be someone next to you, as beautiful as a woman, that’s Nanmen Jue, ‘that’ Nanmen Jue. Li Fei, your Chairman Zhou is too busy right now. If you want to live, do as I say, understand?”

Silence.

The kind-hearted man who had just been sharing candles with them suddenly became the space's number one wanted criminal. This dramatic contrast left the two behind speechless, and their first reaction was to scream. Just then, the communicator started making noise again.

"Good, you kept quiet. You're not an idiot, otherwise you would have been killed right after making a sound, and you would have died for nothing."

The two people who were about to scream instinctively covered their mouths, stifling their cries and revealing only terrified eyes.

The two pairs of eyes looked at the communicator and then at Nanmen Jue, who had a calm expression on his face. The light in their eyes made it seem as if they were already dead.

Looking at their expressions and hearing Zhang Jin's words about dealing with him, Nanmen Jue slowly revealed a smile.

With her eyebrows raised and lips slightly upturned, she seemed overjoyed.

Brother Li held the communicator stiffly, but didn't put it back to his ear. "Yes... Chairman Zhang, I'm listening. What do you want me to do?"

“You don’t need to do anything. Just find an excuse to stay by his side,” Zhang Jin said. “Don’t think this task is difficult. He looks fierce and even slaughters NPCs, but he’s very soft-hearted towards Reincarnators. If you ask him for help, he’ll probably agree. Just act pitiful.”

Seeing Nanmen Jue's increasingly gleeful smile and listening to the fabricated stories about Nanmen Jue over the communicator, Li Fei's face turned pale. "Pretending...pretending to be pitiful?"

"I don't need to teach you this again, do I? Learn from those newbies, haven't you seen enough of them? Nanmen Jue falls for that kind of thing." Zhang Jin's tone revealed a hint of impatience, but he quickly adjusted it and said with a smile, "Li Fei, you're a smart man. I know you've always been unsuccessful under Zhou Yiming. If you handle this matter well, I can put in a good word for you and get you a job under me. I can even give you a purple item as a bonus. How about it?"

Purple items are truly a very generous reward. Even a green-named youth who has only recently arrived knows how precious purple items are in the Reincarnation Space.

Li Fei swallowed hard, opened his lips tremblingly, and was about to speak when another voice rang out.

"You're generous enough to throw away a purple item right away. You want to know Nanmen Jue's coordinates? No problem, give me this item, and I'll report to you wherever I go."

The sudden sound caused everyone present and the person on the other end of the communicator to fall silent simultaneously. Only a slight chuckle came from Ying Yao, who was leaning against the headboard.

Nanmen Jue seemed to think that wasn't enough to annoy the other party, so he added, "If it were me, would you be reluctant to give a purple item? That's fine, a blue one will do. It's a risk-free and highly profitable deal anyway, I won't lose money no matter how you look at it. Chairman Zhang, why aren't you saying anything? Hurry up and say something, are you willing to give it or not?"

While the masters were engaged in a battle of magic, everyone else huddled together, trembling with fear. No one spoke, and Li Fei looked like a humanoid scaffold holding a communicator.

After a long while, a voice came from the other end again: "Nanmen Jue, you're actually here. What do you mean? Has that old bastard Li Fei abandoned the light and joined the darkness?"

Upon hearing this, Li Fei was completely dumbfounded. His pale face turned purplish-red, and he hurriedly tried to speak, but Zhang Jin continued to speak, cutting him off again.

"From the first time I saw you, I knew you were a very charismatic person who could easily win people's favor, if you wanted to. But you've never really been willing to use it. Isn't that very useful? Why do you always pretend to be so fierce?"

Both men sounded cheerful, but anyone could hear the tension beneath their words. Upon hearing Zhang Jin's words, Li Fei's eyes revealed unparalleled terror. Despite his fear and numerous concerns, he couldn't help but cry out, "I'm innocent, Chairman Zhang! I didn't do it!"

Before he could finish speaking, a loud punch landed, and Li Fei was sent flying, crashing into a decorative bookshelf. Glass and wood shattered and scattered all over the floor. Li Fei clutched his chest and lay there pretending to be dead. Nanmen Jue reached out and caught the communicator that had been knocked out of Li Fei's hand.

The sounds of chaos and exclamations were quite clear, and Zhang Jin heard them too. He asked calmly, "What did you do?"

"I'm cleaning house for you," Nanmen Jue said. "Didn't you suspect I was one of your men? Then I can do whatever I want with him."

Zhang Jin paused for a moment, then said, "Nanmen Jue, don't go crazy. Li Fei hasn't done anything yet."

"Isn't he about to do something?" Nanmen Jue said calmly.

Zhang Jin paused for a moment, and surprisingly, instead of sneering and saying "Kill me if you want," he swallowed his anger and said, "You don't need him to follow me anymore. Let him go."

"If I heard correctly, are you begging me?" He didn't sneer, but Nanmen Jue sneered, "You're sorry you killed Zhou Yiming's people, and you can't explain it to him, are you?"

“We will not abandon those who follow us.” Zhang Jin said righteously. “It was my fault. I should not have rashly sought him out and caused him to be noticed by you. But Nanmen Jue, whether I ask you for help depends on whether you care about Ying Yao.”

When the other person present was mentioned, neither Nanmen Jue nor Ying Yao reacted. Ying Yao didn't even change his breathing rate, as if the person being mentioned had nothing to do with him.

“Ying Yao?” Nanmen Jue said.

“Zhou Yiming knows who he is, and he’s furious.” Zhang Jin’s voice carried a hint of amusement. “The four major guilds had an agreement before: no matter how our subordinates fight, the four of us cannot interfere with each other. If the conflict escalates, the four of us can discuss how to resolve it together. Now, Ying Yao has broken the agreement for your sake, which proves that from today onwards, the three of us have the right to besiege the Crimson Church. Ying Yao is certainly not afraid of this, but what about the others under his command?”

Zhang Jin's tone was gentle, and Nanmen Jue's hand holding the communicator slowly tightened.

Her eyes darkened, becoming almost completely black in the candlelight. Just then, her left hand, which was hanging on the bed, twitched. Someone behind her gently beckoned to her finger.

Nanmen Jue steadied his tone, "Judging from your tone, do you think you can handle this?"

"Whether this matter should be let go depends on whether Zhou Yiming wants to make a big fuss. It just so happens that I'm in a cooperative relationship with him, so he'll likely listen to some of what I say," Zhang Jin said casually. "So, how about it? Want to consider it?"

"Such an important bargaining chip, just to exchange for the life of Zi Ming?" Nanmen Jue said. "Zhang Jin, I didn't know you valued human life so much. Now you're pretending you never contacted Li Fei, letting him die quietly. Isn't that easier for you?"

Hearing this, Zhang Jin laughed, "Nanmen Jue, you think too badly of me."

Nanmen Jue fell silent, and Zhang Jin didn't rush to urge him either. The two listened quietly to each other's breathing. Then Nanmen Jue raised his head and looked at the three of them. "Get lost."

"Yes, yes, thank you, thank you!"

Li Fei, who was still pretending to be dead, suddenly jumped up, grabbed the other two with one hand each, and ran downstairs without stopping, not even leaving his communicator behind.

Hearing them leave, Zhang Jin smiled and said, "Thanks. If you could, could you please pass on a message to Ying Yao for me?"

Nanmen Jue turned his head, exchanged a glance with Ying Yao, and asked calmly, "What did you say?"

“He owes me two favors now. Could I ask him to come over? I’m currently with the Provisional United Government. I can send you the map,” Zhang Jin said. “If he’s unwilling, then I’ll have two members of the Crimson Church here personally go and invite him.”

The air immediately became heavy upon hearing this.

Nanmen Jue said softly, "You captured people from the Crimson Church?"

"To put it bluntly, they just happened to be here when I arrived," Zhang Jin said with a smile. "Alright, this communicator has a time limit, so that's all for now. You can use it to find me."

Zhang Jin hung up the call.

Nanmen Jue looked into Ying Yao's eyes and said, "What are you hesitating about?"

When Ying Yao heard that Zhang Jin had people from the Crimson Church, his calm expression vanished. Nanmen Jue thought he would choose to save them without hesitation, but she now saw hesitation on his face.

He didn't want to save his guild members?

Ying Yao looked at her, his face even paler, his lips devoid of color. "He didn't come to find me. He asked me to come over so that he could use me to control you."

Nanmen Jue remained silent.

“It was my fault. I shouldn’t have shown him that I cared too much about you,” Ying Yao said softly, his pupils contracting and dilating in the dim light. “Whether I go or not, it will affect you.”

“Yes, he is such a despicable person,” Nanmen Jue said frankly. “He knows that I care about you too.”

She spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world, but Ying Yao was shocked. His lips trembled slightly, while Nanmen Jue relaxed and suddenly revealed a bright smile.

“So, I’ll go to the interim coalition government with you,” she said. “Since the ultimate target is me, I’ll save him the trouble and deliver it directly to his door.”

"No!" Ying Yao blurted out. "With his abilities, the government of this world is probably already under his control. Going there would be like walking into a trap. Besides, don't you have your own things to do?"

He didn't know about the anchor point and couldn't figure out what Nanmen Jue was going to do, but he knew that Nanmen Jue was doing something very important and was in a hurry.

“I’ll go with you.” Nanmen Jue didn’t explain, but emphasized firmly, her gaze intense and unwavering. “Ying Yao, you’ve helped me so many times, and you’re still thinking of me now. I’m not heartless. If you reject me, you’re rejecting my ability to be a good person. Didn’t you say I’m your anchor point for being a good person? If I really let you go by yourself, do you think I would forgive myself?”

Ying Yao was speechless.

He looked into Nanmen Jue's eyes as they drew closer, a certain emotion about to burst forth. However, at that moment, a rustling sound came from the stairs, and the two of them immediately shut their mouths and turned to look.

It was the same familiar angle, and the same three heads. The three people who had just left in the chaos had actually come back, looking over here furtively.

"What do you mean?" Nanmen Jue asked in surprise.
