Chapter 145 Night Candle Rules 23 There's a trace of my sister!

Chapter 145 Night Candle Rules 23 There's a trace of my sister!

The drop of blood was cold and light, falling on the skin like a soft snowflake, not at all like the blood of a living person.

Nanmen Jue looked up and saw Ying Yao sitting against the wall.

He looked terrible; he was half-curled up against the wall, a cloak covering him like a child hugging his blanket. There were no visible external wounds, but blood had pooled beneath him, flowing gently outwards to where Nanmen Jue had emerged, before dripping onto her forehead.

Nanmen Jue had never seen Ying Yao in such a disheveled state. She was stunned for a moment. When Ying Yao sensed someone approaching, his first reaction was to use his hand as a claw to strike the person's eyes.

His ungloved hands were long and pale, with slightly thick knuckles. Because his body had just been repaired before entering this world, there were no calluses on them. Nanmen Jue was no stranger to these hands. When they were training in combat, these seemingly elegant hands had caused her a lot of suffering. Now, his attacks were still fierce, but Nanmen Jue could see a hint of weakness in them.

She realized that Ying Yao was not conscious; his current attack was merely instinctive.

"answer……"

Nanmen Jue tried to wake him up and reached out to fight back against Ying Yao's attack. However, the moment Ying Yao's fingertips touched Nanmen Jue's skin, he softened.

The hand fell limply downwards, only to be caught in Nanmen Jue's palm.

"Ying Yao?" Nanmen Jue called him softly.

Ying Yao's head moved slightly. His eyes were not visible, but one could sense that his consciousness had returned somewhat.

Nanmen Jue suddenly regretted it. She shouldn't have underestimated her opponent and thought that Zhou Yiming also had the side effects of the props, so she let Ying Yao deal with him. But the other side had so many lives on it. Even if she could do it all over again, she would probably still make the same choice.

With mixed feelings, Nanmen Jue asked gently, "How are you? Can you still walk?"

"...Zhou Yiming already knows my identity."

Ying Yao leaned against the bed, his voice slightly hoarse, and the first thing he said made Nanmen Jue's expression change.

Zhou Yiming now knows Ying Yao's identity!

The implications behind this are far too great. The reason Ying Yao kept his identity hidden and even had his seven knights dress the same way was because he didn't want his personal actions to affect the Crimson Church. He took a huge risk in helping Nanmen Jue. In the previous world, he didn't even want to take action openly at first, but secretly sent messages to Nanmen Jue. Later, he stepped out from behind the scenes and not only fought for Nanmen Jue directly, but also stepped forward to protect the people around her. Nanmen Jue instantly understood how much psychological pressure he had endured after learning his identity.

Now the thing they least wanted to see has happened.

As the president of the Crimson Church, Ying Yao first openly challenged Zhang Jin, and now he is fighting to the death with Zhou Yiming. This is tantamount to giving these two major guilds a high-sounding excuse.

Zhang Jin did know Ying Yao's identity, but he and Ying Yao had an agreement. Ying Yao didn't discuss it in detail, and Nanmen Jue didn't ask further. He only knew that because of this agreement, Zhang Jin couldn't tell others about Ying Yao's identity.

Now, Zhou Yiming knows for himself.

Ying Yao is very strong, but as everyone knows, the Crimson Church has the fewest members among the four major guilds, and its number is even less than that of a medium-sized guild. When these two major guilds join forces to openly besiege the Crimson Church, Ying Yao alone cannot protect everyone.

What will Iron Drill, another of the four major guilds, do?

The situation suddenly became dire. If they couldn't eliminate either Zhang Jin or Zhou Yiming in this world, the Crimson Church would face its most terrifying blow once they left this world.

Nanmen Jue's heart sank halfway, the other half because of Ying Yao's current state. Ever since regaining a little consciousness, he had been extremely tense, like a wild beast in a defensive state. If the person approaching him wasn't Nanmen Jue, who knows what he might do.

“I tracked you here, but I didn’t see anyone.” Ying Yao held Nanmen Jue’s hand tightly, like a drowning person grabbing the only piece of driftwood.

"I know, I was hiding underground." Knowing he wasn't fully conscious and was acting purely on instinct, Nanmen Jue spoke softly, "Deng Erhuai and Lu Yunxiao saved me, do you remember them?"

Whether the lucid Ying Yao still remembered these two people was unknown. The not-so-lucid Ying Yao tensed up immediately upon hearing any name other than Nanmen Jue. He even made a gurgling sound in his throat, like a feline warning before an attack.

Just then, Deng Erhuai's voice came from below.

"South Gate, is there a problem?"

Nanmen Jue has been emerging for some time now, and the two people who stayed below to wait for news are getting a little nervous.

"It's alright!" Nanmen Jue called out, turning his back to Ying Yao and looking down. With his hands still behind his back, he squeezed Ying Yao's hand tightly.

“The army has left. You can come up in a bit.” She paused. “As we agreed before, we will split up. Remember, be sure to act within your capabilities. Get me a message after you find Mo Gui and Wei Chongru.”

She gave one of the communicators she had stolen from Zhang Jin to the other two, which meant they could still contact each other even after the bodies were dismembered.

Deng Erhuai looked up with a puzzled expression. "Why is it taking a while to get up there? What did you find up there? What was that sound? Why is there blood on your forehead?"

Ying Yao's threatening voice grew louder and louder, and only then did Nanmen Jue remember that the drop of blood that had dripped onto his forehead had not yet been dealt with.

She quickly wiped her forehead and said, "It's Ying Yao. He's injured. I'll take him away first. You can come up later!"

She then quickly lifted Ying Yao up and, without waiting for further questions from below, turned and left.

Where was she taking Ying Yao? Nanmen Jue couldn't tell where she was. There were no crows, so there was no map. She looked around and led Ying Yao toward an abandoned shopping mall.

The sun in this world seemed to be just for show; it was dark outside, and even darker inside the buildings. The smell of dust and cold air enveloped everything. Nanmen Jue wrapped Ying Yao's arm around his neck, supporting him with one hand, and took out a powerful flashlight with the other, illuminating the ruins of this civilization.

Nanmen Jue may not understand the world, but she has common sense. She went straight to the fifth floor of the mall. Usually, the home furnishing section is on the top floor or the floor below it. This mall has six floors. She went up to the fifth floor first. Luckily, this was the home furnishing section.

Even though it was dusty and had a gloomy and terrifying atmosphere, there was a bed and a table. Before the apocalypse, in order to attract customers and make them feel at home, this area was decorated like a real bedroom and living room. Nanmen Jue chose the "bedroom" closest to the stairwell and carefully placed Ying Yao on it.

She wanted to light a few candles around the area, just to be on the safe side, but as soon as she let go, Ying Yao tensed up again, purring like a stressed cat.

Nanmen Jue clenched his fist again, and the sound immediately stopped. Ying Yao's curled-up body relaxed slightly, and his breathing became steady.

"...What are you doing?"

Nanmen Jue muttered something under his breath, then helplessly lit a few candles around him with one hand before sitting down on the edge of the bed.

Looking at Ying Yao, who seemed to have suddenly regressed into a child, Nanmen Jue thought for a moment and then said softly, "Ying Yao, I need to take off your mask and clothes to see where you are injured. Don't worry, there are only the two of us here, no one will see your face."

Ying Yao didn't seem to hear it or not, as he didn't react at all.

Nanmen Jue tentatively reached out her hand towards his mask, placing her fingertips on it. Ying Yao was still breathing quietly. She gently removed his mask and then untied the blindfold covering his eyes.

Ying Yao's pale, handsome face was revealed, his eyes slightly open, his pupils somewhat dilated, but as soon as Nanmen Jue moved, his eyes immediately followed her.

"Are you awake or not?" Nanmen Jue teased.

Ying Yao didn't answer her, but she didn't care. She only had one hand that she could move, but she was still quick and efficient. In a few moments, she took off Ying Yao's cloak and outer garment.

Nanmen Jue wasn't exactly familiar with Ying Yao's body, but she'd seen it before. In their training grounds, where it was just the two of them, after all the falls and crawls, Ying Yao would occasionally take off his clothes to treat his wounds. Although Nanmen Jue was a girl, as a medical student, she had seen a lot of blood, so a man's body was no different to her. Apart from silently whistling and praising how thin he looked but was quite well-endowed when he took his clothes off, she didn't think much of it.

As Nanmen Jue watched Ying Yao's body gradually emerge, his expression grew increasingly serious.

There were external injuries, but they weren't serious enough to cause so much bleeding. Ying Yao's current condition was mainly due to those damn side effects.

Thinking that Ying Yao's original intention in using that prop was to find her sister, Nanmen Jue's heart was filled with even more complicated feelings.

She silently used two tools on Ying Yao, then took out a first-aid kit to treat his external wounds.

Ying Yao remained quiet throughout the process. If it weren't for his still-moving eyes and the hand he was holding onto Nanmen Jue, she would have thought he had fainted.

After treating the external injuries, Nanmen Jue wanted to put his clothes back on. The hand that had been holding Nanmen Jue moved slightly, and he finally let go of her, instead grabbing his own clothes.

"I can do it myself," Ying Yao said weakly. "Thank you."

Nanmen Jue was pleasantly surprised, "You're awake? How are you feeling? What about Zhou Yiming?"

As Ying Yao put on his clothes, he took out his watch and glanced at it. He shook his head in astonishment, even stopping his dressing. "I was actually unconscious for two hours?"

Two hours have passed, roughly from when Nanmen Jue met Ying Yao until now.

So he remained conscious until he saw Nanmen Jue before fainting?

Nanmen Jue said, "Not long."

“No, I’ve never had any…” Ying Yao paused strangely for a moment, “I’m fine. Sometimes side effects accumulate and then erupt all at once. I’ll be able to move freely tomorrow. Zhou Yiming ran away.”

"He didn't gain anything either." For some reason, Ying Yao emphasized this point.

Nanmen Jue smiled. "Can you still sense Wei Chongru and Mo Gui's presence?"

"Yes, they are still alive," Ying Yao said.

Nanmen Jue breathed a sigh of relief, then quickly tensed up again, "Then... what about my sister?"

Ying Yao did not answer immediately this time. He put his clothes back on, but no longer covered his face, and said, "I can't be sure if she is still here, but I did feel traces of her presence."
