Chapter 35: Just an Egg

Lu Xiangxiang looked at the dishes on the table. Although he was not picky about food, he still felt hungry. He went back to his room and entered the space to have a big meal.

In the space, grandma was already feeding the chickens and ducks and cleaning. When she saw her, her eyes lit up, "Oh, my dear, why are you back at this time? It's too late."

"I came back late from an investigation today and didn't eat enough," she said aggrievedly.

Hearing her words, Miao Cuihua was a little angry: "How can you let a little girl work such a late shift?"

"Grandma, some factory workers have to work overtime very late, what I do is nothing." She smiled and shook her head.

"You're not a worker, you have a stable job." Miao Cuihua muttered.

She said helplessly: "Grandma, whether it's a worker or a police officer, as long as they need me, I will do it without hesitation and without hesitation, because I love my country so much."

She was stunned when she heard her granddaughter's words, then smiled and patted her head. "Grandma also deeply loves this country. Grandma is old, but she doesn't have the energy of young people like you. The future of the country still depends on you."

Lu Xiangxiang rubbed Miao Cuihua's hand and said, "Grandma, you are not very old. You look like you are in your early forties."

She had a space when she was young, but she hid it from her grandmother. It was not until the famine that her grandmother learned about it.

There was no other way. She couldn't stand her grandmother starving herself so that she could eat more and faint from hunger. Why wouldn't she eat when there was something to eat? Why wouldn't she use the space when there was space to use?

And she was happy to give it to the person who loved her the most in the world.

When her grandmother found out about this, her first reaction was to tell her not to tell anyone about it, because she would be arrested if anyone found out.

She was afraid that she didn't realize the seriousness of the matter and she even mentioned the enemy spies, which made her feel a little amused and helpless at the time.

After things got cleared up and my grandmother had enough to eat, the first thing she thought of was the people in the village.

After thinking for a while, she buried a few sweet potatoes on the mountain, and then poured a basin of spiritual spring water on them. Soon, there were many sweet potatoes in that large area.

Although it is not good to eat sweet potatoes every meal, since we don’t have much choice, it’s good enough to have something to eat. People in the next brigade even eat grass roots and Guanyin soil.

Since she had the ability, she tried her best to help everyone get by during the famine.

So at that time, she started running around and spreading the spiritual spring water in the space. She had great love and could help others without reservation, but she knew her limits and could only help the people around her. As for other places, she really couldn't help.

Because grandma discovered the sweet potato field and told others about it, everyone survived by eating sweet potatoes. Naturally, Miao Cuihua was respected in the village.

Her son is a high-ranking official, and she has done good deeds. Anyone who disrespects her will be beaten to death by the elders in the village. One should never forget one's roots.

Okay, I’m getting off topic.

Because she drank the spiritual spring water, Miao Cuihua looked very young, probably in her forties, with a rosy complexion and good temperament. If she told others that she was Lu Yuantao's mother, no one would believe it.

"You." Miao Cuihua said unhappily.

"I'm only sixty years old. It's a lifelong learning experience, right?" She winked at Miao Cuihua playfully.

Miao Cuihua nodded, and the two of them chatted and laughed while preparing the meal together.

"It's not going to work this way. Why don't you tell your dad if you're hungry?"

"What's the use of saying it?"

"He hasn't cared about you for so many years, it's impossible for him to not even give you a bite to eat. If he really doesn't give you food, grandma will call and scold him."

"I really don't need milk anymore. If possible, I would like you to come earlier so that I can eat milk every day." Her face was full of nostalgia.

Miao Cuihua pondered deeply, and seeing that she was interested, she rolled her eyes and coaxed her, "Grandma, just come quickly, don't wait until next year. We don't have many relatives back home anyway. If you come here, you can not only see me but also see Dad. What do you think?"

"Did you find a house?"

Lu Xiangxiang choked and immediately became discouraged.

"Okay, if you find a house, come over."

Her eyes sparkled as she agreed immediately, "Okay."

During this period, she had to find a house and move out as soon as possible. Anyway, the people in the Lu family no longer pretended in front of her, and few people paid attention to her except Lu Yuantao.

Of course, she didn't want to bother with them. She just wanted to keep a distance from them before she moved out and keep the current status. If they ignored her, she wouldn't go up to them and yearn for fatherly love or anything.

She has not only her father's love, but also her grandmother's love.

Her life would be better if she moved out, at least better than now. She could eat meat whenever she wanted, but of course she could eat it secretly in her space without worrying about being discovered by others.

Lu Xiangxiang thought about it, and his heart began to stir.

"Okay, the milk has been heated up for you. Go wash up and take a rest first," she urged.

Lu Xiangxiang nodded, then took a comfortable bath in the space. After washing clothes, he said goodbye to his grandmother and left the space.

When she came out, I saw that it was only eight o'clock in the evening. I hung up the clothes. Maybe I was too tired after running around a lot today, so I fell asleep soon after touching the pillow.

When she woke up the next day, she actually forgot to exercise. She stretched and yawned.

It doesn’t matter if I miss one day of exercise every day. I put on my uniform, picked up my bag, went downstairs, quickly finished breakfast and went out.

When I was leaving the compound and approaching the bus stop, I saw a tall figure by the roadside. He was sitting on a bicycle with his long legs stretched out to touch the ground, making his legs look even longer.

She looked down at her watch and saw that it was longer than usual.

"Captain Zhou." She couldn't help but shout.

"Get in the car." The person in front of her said directly without being polite to her.

When Lu Xiangxiang came to her senses, she was already on the back seat of Zhou Ziheng's bicycle.

The man in front suddenly handed a paper bag to the back. She looked at him strangely, her almond-shaped eyes widening: "What is this for?"

"Return the gift."

"No, no, no, thanks." She waved her hand, and Zhou Ziheng forcefully stuffed the thing into her.

My hand accidentally touched the soft little hand in my palm, and my heart trembled slightly.

"Just take it if I tell you to. It's just an egg." After she said that, the car suddenly started moving and she hurriedly grabbed the seat. The egg was crushed because of her force.

Okay, now I have to eat it whether I want to or not.

She is not such a pretentious person, and there will be plenty of opportunities to repay this favor in the future.

Zhou Ziheng turned around and found that the girl had peeled the eggs and was eating them in small bites. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

With more strength on the feet, the car rushed forward at a faster speed.
