The sales clerk glanced back at the two record players on the shelf. Although he really wanted to sell the record players, the radio was too expensive; his sales would be higher that way!
Zhao Huanhuan noticed the other party's hesitation and said, "We don't need you to refund the money. After deducting the cost of the record player, give me all the remaining money to buy records."
The sales clerk's eyes lit up immediately. "Sure!"
After Zhao Huanhuan waited for him to switch, she tested the sound quality. It was okay, but it was much worse than the sound quality of the later CDs.
However, this was exactly the feeling she wanted. She used to see people from that era lying on deck chairs under trees on TV, listening to old songs played on a record player, and she felt that it was very artistic.
She almost went and got an old antique to take home.
But now that she's come across this, she wants it.
After testing, the machine worked fine, and the salesperson helped them pack it up. The ten thick vinyl records that were originally included were packaged one record per box, and they felt very high-quality in their hands.
In addition, the salesperson brought out a box containing records and let Zhao Huanhuan choose what songs she liked to listen to; she could pick a pack.
"This paper package contains ten records. It usually sells for twenty yuan a pack, or three yuan a single record. Here's a pack for eighteen yuan. The song titles are on the back. Pick which pack you want."
"Ten bills for eighteen yuan?" Zhao Huanhuan asked in surprise.
"Moreover, these records are much thinner than those ten," Zhao Huanhuan asked as she looked at them, noting that the packaging was very simple.
The salesperson nodded. "Yes, these are film records. The ten thicker ones are the ten that the machine can bring you. If you buy those micro-textured films separately, each one will cost twenty or thirty or more."
Zhao Huanhuan opened her mouth and understood. It turned out that the thing she liked was really an expensive thing. No wonder she had heard that a vinyl record cost hundreds or thousands of yuan in her previous life!
In other words, when she releases a new song in the future, she will need to buy good records and make a large investment.
However, she thought it was fine; this was one of the ways she wanted to enjoy life from now on.
If she wants to continue listening to new songs, she'll have to work hard to earn money.
Moreover, she could tell that both families had gone all out for this wedding.
Zhao Huanhuan decided that after Lin Yuan left, she would have to start thinking of ways to make money, at least to ensure that the four elderly people would not lack money. Otherwise, if they were to fall ill or need money for something and had no money, it would be the fault of her and Lin Yuan as their children.
Seeing Zhao Huanhuan deep in thought but not choosing a record, Lin Yuan assumed she was having second thoughts because of the high price. He moved closer to her and looked at the records with her, whispering, "Don't overthink it. If you like it, choose this one. Listen to these for now, and I'll buy you new songs later."
Zhao Huanhuan turned to look at him, smiled helplessly, and nodded to the salesperson without explaining, "Thank you. When you get new song CDs in the future, please save one for me. I'll come and visit often."
The salesperson naturally smiled and agreed.
Thick vinyl records can last much longer, more than ten years without any problems. If properly protected, they can be listened to for decades.
However, these thin film records won't last that long, and the salesperson believes they'll still come back to buy records frequently in the future.
After Zhao Huanhuan selected a pack of records that had most of the songs on the other ten records, the salesperson taught them how to clean and maintain the records, explaining it to them in detail.
Zhao Huanhuan carefully memorized it.
The salesperson reissued the invoice for them. Afterwards, Lin Yuan went to buy two more sockets and wires. When she got back, she would have to run an wire to the cabinet to install the sockets.
The record player was shaped like a suitcase. Lin Yuan picked up the handle and then the other items. After Zhao Huanhuan was carrying a box of records, the two left the mall.
After leaving, Lin Yuan tidied up her things again.
The record box that Zhao Huanhuan was holding could be put into the washbasin and packed on the back of Zhao Huanhuan's bicycle.
He kept the rest of his things in the back of his car, and carried the record player in his hand so that it wouldn't be easily damaged by the uneven road.
The two of them rode home slowly like this.
They got home at 1 p.m.
Aunt Chu and the others had just finished eating and were cleaning up when they saw them come back. They took out the rice that was still warm in the pot for the two of them.
After delivering the things they bought to the new house, the two of them washed up, changed their clothes, and then went to eat.
After dinner, Zhao Huanhuan and Wen Yan washed the dishes, while Aunt Chu sat in the courtyard with Lin Yuan and chatted for a while, asking what they had bought.
Lin Yuan gave her mother a brief explanation.
Aunt Chu also went over to take a look at the bicycle that Zhao Huanhuan had chosen. She said it was quite good and the size was just right for Huanhuan to ride.
"Didn't you take Huanhuan to buy face cream, face powder, shampoo, and other household items for girls?" Aunt Chu asked in a low voice.
I didn't hear what my son said just now.
Lin Yuan paused, as if he hadn't remembered that.
"Then let's go again in a few days." Lin Yuan said with a soft laugh, thinking that she could take Huanhuan out again.
Aunt Chu understood her son's thoughts and chuckled, "Okay, ask her what she usually uses and buy her that. Don't just blindly buy things yourself; what you like might not be what she likes."
"Okay, Mom!" Lin Yuan nodded. Her mother was indeed experienced and had been through a lot.
Today, by buying a radio and exchanging it for a record player, I've learned this lesson.
From now on, when buying things for Huanhuan, I really need to ask her and buy what she likes.
