Chapter 78 The Zhao family's homecoming banquet was missing a new son-in-law, but everyone was understanding.

Three hours later, the train arrived at Yuancheng Station, and Lin Yuan and Zhao Huanhuan got off the train together.

Lin Yuan checked the time; it was 11:30.

This train was not only not late, it actually seemed to have arrived a few minutes early.

When I got off the train, it was 11:45.

Lin Yuan suddenly made a decision: to send Zhao Huanhuan to the Zhao family, say hello to the Zhao family elders, and then come back.

His ticket to Xiling was for 1:30 PM, which meant he had almost an hour to spare. He figured he had enough time to take Zhao Huanhuan back and forth.

"Huanhuan, wait for me a moment, I'll go ask if the bus to Xiling is departing on time." After saying that, Lin Yuan ran into the ticket hall.

Soon, he came out again and said to Zhao Huanhuan, "Come on, I'll take you home and you can meet your parents-in-law while you're at it."

"Oh, is there enough time?" Zhao Huanhuan asked.

"There's enough time. I'll just go over and say a few words, and I'll be back at the station before 1 a.m.," Lin Yuan said, taking her hand as the two quickly left the station and headed towards the Zhao family's house.

At 12:15, they stood in the Zhao family's courtyard.

There were quite a few members of the Zhao family there; my cousin and her husband's wife were all there, seemingly cooking. When they saw the two of them return, they all came out to greet them.

Zhang Jinhua and Zhao Fugui asked Lin Yuan in surprise, "Xiao Lin, aren't you going back to the army?"

"Yes, I bought a 1:30 train ticket back there. There's still time. I'll bring Huanhuan back first. I'm so sorry about what happened this time. I'm so sorry, Mom and Dad!"

Regardless of how her parents-in-law understood her, in Lin Yuan's heart, she ultimately felt that she had let Huanhuan down and the Zhao family.

"It's alright, it's alright. Everyone already knows. The homecoming banquet will proceed as planned tomorrow. Huanhuan can toast everyone for you. Important matters come first!" The Zhao couple comforted him.

"The food will be ready soon, so hurry up and go to the station after you finish eating. You should be able to make it in time!" Zhang Jinhua said, and quickly walked into the kitchen.

Lin Yuan and Zhao Huanhuan exchanged a glance and replied, "Okay, I'll leave after I finish eating."

After he agreed, everyone accompanied the two of them into the house.

Zhao Huanhuan first fetched water for him so he could wash his hands and face. Both of them were sweating from walking all the way.

My cousin poured them a cup of tea and told them to drink some to soothe their throats.

Soon, Zhang Jinhua brought out lunch.

Today it's all family, so we're making stew and steamed buns.

After everyone was seated, Lin Yuan exchanged pleasantries with them and began to eat.

He eats quickly, finishing a bowl of vegetables and a steamed bun in five minutes. He wipes his mouth, stands up, and checks the time: 12:45.

He looked at Zhao Huanhuan, "Huanhuan, I'm leaving!"

Zhao Huanhuan put down her chopsticks and silently stood up. "Okay, I'll see you out!"

The others escorted Lin Yuan to the alley entrance, reminding him, "Little Lin, be careful while on the mission."

"Okay!" Lin Yuan replied.

Zhao Huanhuan saw him off to the street. Lin Yuan stopped, turned around and looked at her. He couldn't help but reach out and touch her head, saying softly, "Stay with Mom and Dad for a few more days before going back. Be careful when you're working at home. Even though you're strong, don't rush into everything."

"Okay, I understand!" Zhao Huanhuan smiled and replied.

"Remember, think of me!" Lin Yuan was a little embarrassed to say the rest, but thinking about the upcoming separation, he didn't want his wife to forget him, so he leaned closer to her, left a sentence in her ear, took the opportunity to give her a light kiss on the cheek, and then turned and left.

Zhao Huanhuan was taken aback by the man's sudden display of affection. When she looked up at him, she noticed that the color of his ears had darkened when he turned his head.

hehe!

Zhao Huanhuan subconsciously turned around to look at the alleyway behind her, and saw that everyone was covering their mouths and laughing before turning away and pretending not to be looking this way.

Zhao Huanhuan also felt her face burning. She stood there, staring blankly at Lin Yuan's retreating figure as he strode towards the station.

Some say that saying goodbye is the most heartbreaking kind of romance!

However, at this moment, Zhao Huanhuan did not feel heartache. She only felt that his back was so special and so dazzling in the crowd.

Lin Yuan kept walking forward, not daring to look back at Zhao Huanhuan, afraid of seeing her tearful eyes.

Only after crossing the intersection did he look back and find that Zhao Huanhuan was no longer visible at the far end of the alley.

Lin Yuan breathed a sigh of relief and hurried toward the station.

Zhao Huanhuan returned to the Zhao family home and continued to eat with everyone, but she was too embarrassed to look up at their expressions.

Zhang Jinhua, along with her cousin and sister-in-law, inquired about the wedding celebration at the Lin family's home yesterday.

Zhao Huanhuan said everything went smoothly and well, and no one got drunk or caused trouble.

Knowing that everything was going well and smoothly, and that the Lin family had even prepared a reunion meal for the two of them, Zhang Jinhua felt relieved.

My uncles and aunts, as well as my eldest uncle and aunt, all came directly from the village to the Zhao family's house the next day.

My aunt received the letter, but because of work, she couldn't take leave and didn't come back. However, she sent a telegram with a remittance of 100 yuan, saying that after deducting the gift money, the rest was for Huanhuan to buy herself a gift.

She also said that she had found a wool coat for Huanhuan in Kyoto, asked Huanhuan for her current size, and told her in her next letter that she would buy it for Huanhuan and send it to her as a wedding gift for her niece.

In the afternoon, Zhang Jinhua told Zhao Huanhuan about these things, and Zhao Huanhuan also expressed her gratitude to her aunt.

On the day the Zhao family held their homecoming ceremony, they didn't invite many guests. Besides the immediate family members from both sides, there were a few people from their workplaces with whom they had good relationships, as well as a few neighboring families with whom they had exchanged gifts and with whom they had a good relationship.
