Chapter 41 Huanhuan reveals the reason why they didn't recognize each other when they met.

Zhao Huanhuan glanced at him and smiled, "Just listen carefully to the story later. Don't worry, I'm fine."

Lin Yuan felt a little relieved and continued with her work.

Zhao Fugui and Zhang Jinhua felt heavy-hearted and uneasy after Zhao Huanhuan said those words. They wondered what was going on. They changed out of their work clothes and started greeting customers, chatting about work-related matters.

Zhang Jinhua asked Lin Xia if she and her boyfriend had decided when to get married, and Lin Xia said it should be next January.

Her boyfriend also worked at the water plant; he was a technician. The two fell in love freely, and her second uncle thought the young man was good, so he didn't object. He even told his older brother and sister-in-law back home about the young man's family, saying that they were both working families and quite good, so Lin Xia wouldn't have a bad marriage.

Therefore, Zhang's eldest uncle's family was at ease about their daughter's future.

As they chatted, the food was served one after another. Looking at the table full of dishes, Lin Xia gave Lin Yuan an approving look, "I didn't expect you to be so capable. Were you a cook in the army?"

Lin Yuan shook her head. "No, Huanhuan made most of these. You can try them later."

At this moment, Zhao Huanhuan came out carrying a small bowl of mutton offal and placed it on the table.

Mr. Zhao was taken aback, then came closer and asked in surprise, "Huanhuan, you also bought lamb offal soup?"

"Yes, I bought a bowl when I bought braised pig's trotters and sausages. When I got back, I added some chopped green onions and potato and radish strips and simmered it for a while. It should be more tender than before," Zhao Huanhuan replied.

My father's love for lamb offal soup is written in his diary.

Zhang Jinhua also noticed the braised pork intestines, which she loved to eat. "Did you buy pre-cooked pork intestines and stir-fry them?"

Zhao Huanhuan nodded and said, "I'm afraid I won't be able to clean it properly if I buy it raw."

Zhang Jinhua smiled and said, "Thank you. These are all my parents' favorite dishes. We haven't bought any cooked meat since you left."

Zhao Huanhuan smiled and said, "Even when I'm not home, you all need to take good care of yourselves. You all earn your own money, so you should eat and drink well and take good care of your health."

The couple responded.

Zhao Fugui looked at his daughter, whose expression remained normal, and couldn't quite guess what she was going to say. However, he felt a little regretful for his earlier wild guesses about his daughter.

He shouldn't have distrusted his own daughter.

After everything was set on the table, Zhao Huanhuan personally invited her second uncle and cousin to sit down. She then went to the bedroom and brought over two stools. Once all six of them were seated, Zhao Huanhuan glanced at Lin Yuan beside her and introduced him to her second uncle and cousin.

After that, she recounted what had happened at the train station, and then added, "Second Uncle, Cousin, you probably arrived at the station late and didn't see what happened. Some people thought we were a couple. There were so many people, so we didn't bother to explain to each one of them. Besides, we're getting married soon, so we were too lazy to bother explaining."

"As for not recognizing you, it's because we were worried that the other side might have accomplices hiding in the crowd. If they found out that you were related to us, they might secretly follow you and retaliate against you. That would be the fault of Lin Yuan and me. Maybe that won't happen, but just in case, I pretended not to know you."

"We hope that Second Uncle and Sister Linxia will forgive us, especially Lin Yuan. It was our first time meeting you, and we should have made a good impression on you. But because of this incident, we ruined the good impression he had on you. It was all my fault. Here, we would like to toast Second Uncle and Cousin, and introduce ourselves again."

“My second uncle helped me a lot in the past. He did all the favors, and I got all the benefits. I am very grateful to him. I don’t blame him for going to the countryside to work. In retrospect, it was a good thing for me. I not only improved my health but also learned a lot of skills. I also met Lin Yuan. I think every experience is a necessary step in my life. So I won’t blame him for this.”

Zhao Huanhuan said with a smile that Lin Yuan listened to her words beside her, respectfully poured a glass of wine for her second uncle and cousin, then poured wine for Zhao Fugui and Zhang Jinhua, and finally poured wine for Zhao Huanhuan and herself.

After Zhao Huanhuan finished speaking, Lin Yuan also finished pouring. The two of them picked up their glasses together and toasted their second uncle and cousin.

After the two sat down, the other four stared at them in disbelief. They hadn't expected this to happen. They knew it was true; there was no way they could lie about something like this.

Lin Xia suddenly said, "No wonder there were several police cars parked outside when we entered the station!"

Second Uncle silently sized up Lin Yuan and nodded approvingly, "Not bad, it seems that Little Lin's skills are extraordinary, aren't they?"

Lin Yuan nodded, "It's alright. I'm the champion in the annual boxing competition in the camp."

Hearing his blunt words, Zhao Huanhuan and Lin Xia laughed together. Young people should be confident.

The three elders smiled and said, "Okay! We're sorry, Mom and Dad and Uncle misunderstood you. But you two shouldn't have kept this from us after you came back yesterday, otherwise we wouldn't have misunderstood." Zhang Jinhua said helplessly.

Lin Yuan said with a smile, "Originally, I didn't want Huanhuan to say it. This is just a small matter. Our leaders often teach us to do good deeds anonymously and to be the next living Lei Feng."

The two elders of the Zhao family smiled helplessly.

My second uncle nodded, "Your idea is right. Many People's Liberation Army soldiers help others in trouble without ever leaving their names."

Lin Yuan nodded and hummed in agreement.

That matter was thus dropped, and they continued eating and drinking.

Lin Yuan drank with his second uncle and Zhao Fugui.

Zhao Huanhuan, Zhang Jinhua, and Lin Xia only drank one cup with them before stopping.

For them, one glass of wine is fine, but any more and they'll get drunk.

The three men chatted and drank, and when they were full, they finished the two bottles of wine that Lin Yuan had brought.

Fortunately, the three of them seemed to have a good tolerance for alcohol, and none of them got drunk.

Zhao Fugui wanted to buy more wine, but his second uncle stopped him, laughing and scolding, "You really want to get your son-in-law drunk? If you scare him away, Huanhuan will blame you."

Zhao Fugui let out a burp and chuckled.

"Xiao Lin, tell me honestly, how many kilograms of liquor can you drink?" Second Uncle asked with a smile.

Lin Yuan smiled, glanced at Zhao Huanhuan, and said, "I can only handle half a jin at most, and I'm already pretty tipsy. If I drink any more, I'll lose all sense of direction."

"Alright, that's settled for today. Whenever you go back, before you leave, your second uncle will host a banquet for you, and we'll continue drinking. You can also get to know Huanhuan's other cousins." The second uncle patted Lin Yuan's shoulder as he spoke, seemingly quite satisfied with his nephew-in-law.

Lin Yuan smiled and agreed.
