Chapter 18 White Lies

As a parent, Wu Fang knew what kinds of words were the cruelest to parents. As expected, she saw Yan Aiguo and the others’ faces changed.

Humph, a woman whose innocence has been ruined, she wants to see if there is anyone willing to marry her.

As soon as Wu Fang said this, the entire family building fell silent.

The people living in our building are basically neighbors who have known each other for half their lives. We see each other every day. Sisi is a child I have seen since she was a child. She is good-looking, sweet-spoken and polite.

Now hearing her being said like this, they felt sympathetic, but some people who looked down on Yan Sisi's family said in agreement, "Yes, Sisi. Since you have broken off the engagement with Xiao Xu, there is a relative in my country who is only forty years old and has not yet married. He has everything he needs. Do you want to consider it?"

"Why are you in such a hurry? I should be the first one to introduce someone. My relative is only 35 years old, lives in the city, has a house and a job, and has three children. If you marry him, he will already have a husband and children."

Before, Yan's mother had been staying in the room without saying a word. Her husband had always been the one to deal with matters concerning the family. Now, she heard such a series of hurtful words, from the accident of her daughter to the accident of her husband. These things weighed on her mind one by one, and she finally lost control when she heard these vicious words.

She rushed to the kitchen and took out a sharp kitchen knife. She pushed her husband who was blocking the door and rushed out, shouting fiercely, "You have such a sharp tongue that you can say such wicked words. I might as well cut it off for you!"

Yan Sisi listened to the neighbors' conversations, and suddenly her head was buzzing and she could not hear anything. When she came to her senses, she saw her mother rushing out with a kitchen knife. She was so scared that she trembled all over. She ran over quickly but did not dare to snatch the kitchen knife from her mother's hand. She could only hug her waist tightly and shouted loudly: "Mom, put the knife down quickly."

This knife seemed to coincide with the one she used to commit suicide in her dream. Could it be that their family could not escape the fate of death?

Yan's father was also frightened by his wife's behavior of holding a knife. He was afraid that his wife would really kill someone, so he chased after her and grabbed the kitchen knife with a big hand. He shouted at Wu Fang, who had already fallen to the ground with fright, "Hurry up and leave."

Wu Fang was awakened by the loud roar and was so frightened that she staggered to her feet and was about to leave this horrible place. She wondered why she had never realized that this woman was so brave that she dared to chop people with a knife.

Before she had taken two steps, she ran into Aunt Chen who had squeezed in from the back of the crowd.

Aunt Chen walked a long way and finally found out where Yan Sisi lived. As soon as she climbed to the third floor, she saw the corridor and stairs were full of people. She didn't know what had happened there.

Aunt Chen patted the person standing at the back and asked, "Comrade, do you know where Yan Sisi's home is?"

The neighbor who was watching the excitement turned around and saw another person who was looking for Old Lady Yan. He raised his hand and pointed to the front and said, "The one who is quarreling in the back is her family. What are you doing here? Are you here to cause trouble?"

Aunt Chen was startled and thought that the family was causing trouble again, so she hurriedly squeezed into the crowd. As she squeezed in, she happened to run into Wu Fang who was about to leave.

Aunt Chen was standing at the front of the crowd. She noticed with her sharp eyes that Yan Sisi was hugging a woman and there was a man with a knife next to him. Was there blood?

I looked around but didn't see that family here. Why did they have surgery?

Aunt Chen stood there and didn't dare to move closer. She just shouted at Yan Sisi: "Xiao Yan, what happened?"

Yan Sisi heard a familiar voice and turned around to see that it was Aunt Chen. She let go of her mother's arms and asked, "Aunt, why are you here?"

Aunt Chen thought about the main purpose of her visit this time. There happened to be many neighbors at the scene who could also serve as witnesses. She immediately said, "The results of the Public Security Bureau are out. I stopped by to tell you."

"What Public Security Bureau?" Father Yan looked at his daughter with confusion. When did his daughter get involved with the Public Security Bureau again?

Wu Fang, who was about to leave, stopped immediately when she heard the word "Public Security Bureau". She turned around and looked at Yan Sisi's family and laughed, "Your daughter must have done something shameful and got caught by the police."

After saying that, he turned around and looked at the strange elder sister who hadn’t finished her words, ready to wait for the embarrassing scene of Yan Sisi’s family.

Yan Sisi pulled her father's hand, suppressed his rebuttal, and calmly responded: "Only people with dirty thoughts would think so badly of others."

Aunt Chen snorted coldly at Wu Fang, who was obviously coming with bad intentions, then walked to the door of Yan Sisi's house with a smile and said happily, "The man who pretended to save you has been sentenced. He was sentenced to seven years in prison for impersonating someone else and two counts of intentional injury. He will be sent to a remote farm for reform in a few days. You can rest assured from now on."

When Yan Sisi heard that the thug who had been harassing her family in her dream was sentenced, she couldn't believe it and asked again, "Is it true?"

"Of course, the notice will be out in the next two days." Aunt Chen patted her chest and assured, and then said: "If I didn't know someone there, I wouldn't know the result so quickly. Just stay at home and wait for the notice from the Public Security Bureau!"

As expected, Xiao Gu's concern was correct. If Comrade Xiao Yan did not clarify the truth about her drowning, her reputation would be almost ruined. The sooner she clarified the truth, the sooner she could save her reputation. She had seen many girls whose reputations were ruined. They either committed suicide or married far away. Even worse, many were forced to death by their families.

Wu Fang didn't believe them at all and thought they were in the same group. She quickly said, "You are lying."

Aunt Chen glanced at her and said, "I was the one who saved the little girl from falling into the water. Don't I know if she is a fake?"

Yan Sisi looked at Aunt Chen in surprise, wondering why she said that. Didn’t she say before that it was another person who saved her?

Wu Fang didn't believe it at all. "You said you saved him, right? Do you have any evidence?"

"I have witnesses. If you don't believe me, we can go to the Public Security Bureau and confront the police officers to find out whether what I said is true or not." Aunt Chen said this without any guilt. There were only four people present at the time, and Xiao Gu had already communicated with the police officers, and the details of the case would not be announced.

She came this time at Xiao Gu's request. Xiao Gu had taken care of all other matters, and her main task was to clarify things at the family compound where Comrade Xiao Yan lived.

Xiaoyan is the person involved in the incident. A woman saving her and a man saving her are two completely different situations. Faced with such a situation, she must know what to do, right?

Apart from herself, the only person who knew the truth was Zhou Jiajun who was in the detention center. Could anyone else go in and ask him?

Nowadays, it is rare to find kind-hearted people like Xiao Gu who care about others.

It was he who found me and took the initiative to hide the fact that he was the real savior, and let her be the good guy, so that the girl's reputation could be preserved.

You know, if a girl falls into a river, being rescued by a man and being rescued by a woman are two completely different concepts.

Mother Yan, who had calmed down at this moment, saw Wu Fang was about to speak again and stared at her with wide eyes, threatening: "Why don't you leave? Do you want to stay here?"

Wu Fang met Yan's mother's fierce eyes, and she couldn't help but feel scared when she thought of the kitchen knife just now, but she continued to say arrogantly: "Humph, just wait for me, there will be a day when you will beg me for mercy."

After saying this, he pushed the crowd away and left with great momentum.

After seeing the troublemakers leave, Yan's mother hurriedly sent away the neighbors who were watching the excitement. Yan Sisi took Aunt Chen back home and asked about what had just happened, "Aunt, why did you say just now that you saved me? Wasn't it that person who saved me?"

"Huh? It wasn't her who saved you. What's going on?" Yan's father who came in next was confused about the situation. Zhou Jiajun who saved the young lady was a fake, then it was this eldest sister who saved people, and now it has become another person. Why does he feel confused? How many things happened during the days he was away?

As soon as Yan's mother entered the room, she met her husband's gaze and said guiltily, "I've been too busy lately, so I forgot to tell you."

Father Yan shifted his gaze and looked at his young lady. Under her father's serious gaze, Yan Sisi honestly explained what she had discovered about Aunt Chen and what happened at Zhou Jiajun's house. After that, she stood there obediently, not daring to move.

Only then did Father Yan realize that so many things had happened to his daughter while he was not at home, and he didn't know how she had managed to get through it all on her own.

Father Yan wanted to say something but then he remembered that there were outsiders present, so he could only glare at her first, then turned to look at the eldest sister who had helped their family in their time of need, and thanked her warmly: "Sister, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, our daughter would have suffered so much injustice, and her life might have been ruined."

"It's okay. I was asked to do this by someone else." Aunt Chen didn't dare to take all the credit for herself. She knew that the one who put in the most effort was Comrade Xiao Gu, and she was just a messenger at best.

Comrade Xiao Gu didn't want anyone to know, so she didn't say much.

Aunt Chen felt very sorry for what happened last time. She said with embarrassment, "Last time Xiaoyan came to my house to deliver something, my spoiled daughter said some rude words to her. This time she came in a hurry. Next time I will bring my daughter here and let her apologize in person."

Yan Sisi: "It's okay, I just feel bad for Mom. If it weren't for me, Mom wouldn't have been injured."

But in my heart, I was thinking about what Aunt Chen said about "being entrusted by someone". Who was that "someone"?

"Yes, big sister, you really helped my family a lot, thank you." Yan's mother took out her treasured tea leaves, poured a cup of tea water and handed it to her, saying embarrassedly: "This is the only daughter in my family. Her father was injured and hospitalized recently. I haven't had time to come to thank you. I'm really sorry."

"That's too polite, sister. No matter who encounters this situation, they will stand up and help." After saying this, Aunt Chen was too embarrassed to stay any longer. She thought of an excuse, stood up and said, "I have something else to do. I'll leave first."

"You're leaving now? Big sister, please stay and have a meal before you go."

"No, I have something else to do and I'll leave first."
