Chapter 4 Design

Yan Sisi was suddenly stopped by someone and looked over hesitantly. It was an unfamiliar lady. Seeing the lady staring at her closely, she asked uncertainly, "Are you calling me?"

"Aren't you the lesbian who fell into the water here a few days ago? I thought something happened to you."

Yan Sisi didn't expect that she would meet an eyewitness of the incident when she just came in to take a look. She immediately approached and asked him some detailed questions, and only then did she reconstruct the circumstances of her falling into the water that day.

According to Aunt Chen, she was washing clothes by the river at the time and heard a "splash" sound of something falling into the water and ripples on the water surface in the distance. She thought some naughty children had thrown stones into the water, and was about to teach them a lesson when she heard another splash.

Without shifting her gaze, she saw a tall man jump into the water. When she walked around the river, she saw from a distance that the man was carrying a woman with a braided hair towards the shore. Only then did she realize that someone had fallen into the water.

There happened to be a man on the shore who pulled the girl up from the water. Then he looked around stealthily, kicked the man who was about to climb ashore back into the river, and then picked up the girl on the ground and put her on the cart next to him.

When Aunt Chen said this, she couldn't help but raise her voice and said angrily, "I quickly chased after him and shouted, but the brat pushed the cart faster than a rabbit and ran away in a short while. I don't know where he ran to."

"When I turned around, the guy who saved you had just climbed out of the river. We called the police together and searched for you in a wider area but couldn't find you for a long time. We thought you were..." Aunt Chen didn't finish her words. She just squeezed Yan Sisi's hand vigorously, and couldn't help but feel relieved in her heart, "Luckily, my lady, you are okay."

"Mom, did you see what that man looks like?" Yan Sisi asked with a hint of luck. She didn't expect that she was really set up by someone. First she was pushed into the river and then she was kidnapped.

"I would recognize that guy even if he turned into ashes." Aunt Chen said gritting her teeth. Such a person should be sent to prison and shot to avoid harming other people.

Yan Sisi was delighted. Seeing his appearance would make things much easier. As long as she could see whether the man who came to her house to propose marriage was the same person who kidnapped her on the shore, there would be hope of solving the problem.

When Yan Sisi thought of this, she immediately started to talk to her mother about what happened at home recently. Finally, she couldn't help crying and said, "They even threatened my family, saying that if we didn't agree, they would gossip about me outside."

"What a heartless person! Isn't this intentional destruction of someone's innocence?" Aunt Chen cursed angrily. She couldn't help but feel empathy if her own daughter encountered such a situation outside.

Fortunately, the young lady met her, otherwise her reputation might have been ruined. Aunt Chen anxiously pulled Yan Sisi and was about to leave, saying as she walked: "Come on, I'll go with you to see if it's that brat."

Yan Sisi grabbed Aunt Chen who was about to leave and said embarrassedly, "Aunt, I'll go back and find out where his house is, and then I'll ask you to help check it out."

"That's fine. My home is right over there. If you find out, come find me right away. A girl's reputation is the most important thing. We can't let those scoundrels ruin it." Aunt Chen pointed to a row of bungalows on the west side of the park and said, "My name is Chen Guihua. You'll know when you go over there and ask around."

Yan Sisi chatted with her mother for a while before leaving the park. She felt much better after the new development. When she arrived at the seed station, she saw many sacks and cloth bags on the shelves. Salesman Li Daqiang looked up when he heard the noise and saw a little girl. He lowered his head and continued to read the newspaper in his hand.

Yan Sisi looked along the shelves one by one. There were seeds of soybeans, corn, rice, wheat, peanuts, and many other unfamiliar seeds. There were also many seeds wrapped in brown paper in the glass cabinet.

Yan Sisi looked at it for a while and asked, "Comrade, do you have any vegetable and fruit seeds?"

Li Daqiang looked up at the girl in front of him and confirmed that she was really here to buy seeds. Then he stood up and asked, "Green vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, sesame seeds, spinach, cucumbers, loofahs, cantaloupes, melons, watermelons, strawberries, which one do you want?"

"I want a little of everything. How much is it?"

Li Daqiang, "Except for tomatoes, which are 4 cents per pound, the other vegetable seeds are 2 cents per pound. Melon seeds are all 4 cents per pound. How much do you want?"

Yan Sisi estimated her pocket money in her mind and said, "I'll give you half a pound of everything you mentioned."

Li Daqiang took the beam balance and started to weigh the seeds one by one. Then he separated them with old newspapers and folded them up. Yan Sisi also borrowed a pen and wrote the name of the seed on each piece of newspaper.

After working for more than ten minutes, Yan Sisi took out her cloth wallet, counted out 18 cents from it and handed it to the salesperson, then left the seed station carrying a plastic bag containing eleven bags of seeds.

Yan Sisi bought the seeds smoothly. The first thing she did when she got home was to store all the seeds she bought in the space. She opened the packages of each type of seeds and separated out a few seeds. She used her consciousness to plant them one by one on the ground. After planting only twenty-three seeds, Yan Sisi felt a little dizzy. Her head hurt whenever she moved her consciousness.

Yan Sisi had to stop and slow down for a while. She didn't dare to continue planting consciously. She could only plant one by one with her own hands. After more than an hour, she finally planted the seeds around the ancient tree.

After leaving the space, the clock on the wall had already pointed to ten o'clock. It was almost time to cook lunch.

Yan Sisi walked to the kitchen and first opened the door under the coal stove to slowly ignite the new honeycomb coal. When she saw the new honeycomb coal turn red, she turned around and opened the cupboard. She grabbed some rice and sorghum rice and mixed them together. She bent down to pick out the stones and rice husks in the rice grains, and then washed them two or three times with water before pouring them into the iron pot.

The cold tap water slowly flowed into the iron pot. Yan Sisi raised a finger and gently placed it on the top of the rice grains. She watched the water slowly cover her fingernail before turning off the water.

Then use a sharp knife to carefully scrape the skin of the sweet potatoes. Soon, the skin of three sweet potatoes of different sizes was scraped dry. After washing them clean, put them on top of the rice grains and cover the pot with a lid. Then pick up the iron pot and put it on the burning coal stove to start cooking.

Yan Sisi suddenly had an idea: what if she planted rice in the space? She thought about it and realized that if she planted rice in the space, there would be no place to plant other plants. Moreover, harvesting, drying, and husking the rice were all big problems. She would be exhausted if she did it alone, not to mention that she had to do it secretly from her parents.

Yan Sisi was a little hesitant about whether to tell her parents about the space, but she was also worried that her parents would be suspicious or afraid of her after knowing it.

"Creaky--" The sound of a door opening interrupted Yan Sisi's thoughts. Yan Sisi poked her head out of the kitchen and said, "Mom, you're back. What do you want to say about Dad?"

When Yan's mother saw her daughter in the kitchen, she hurried over and said, "Just wait for me to come back and cook the meal. You should have a good rest. The factory manager said that taking two months off is too long. The factory is very busy recently and it's hard to get leave."

"What should I do?"

"It's useless for your father to go to the factory with his broken arm. The factory leader said that they can find someone to temporarily replace him and let your father go to the factory after he recovers." Yan's mother took out an iron bucket from the cabinet and added some tap water into it. She put three of the four fish she brought back into the bucket and left one on the chopping board.

"Mom, do you have any candidates? But don't look for my uncle's family." Yan Sisi reminded again and again, fearing that her mother would give in and give the job to her uncle's family again.

You have to know that since she was a child, her uncle's family has taken countless things from her family, and they never return them. If Dad's job falls into their hands, it will not be easy to get it back.

Yan's mother said, "Do you need to tell me that? Your father's leader recommended someone, and I couldn't refuse, so I agreed." She moved swiftly and hit the fish on the chopping board with the back of the knife. In a few hits, the fish that was still alive and kicking just now lay motionless.

Yan Sisi felt something was wrong and asked hesitantly, "Could that person be a relative of the factory leader?"

"How do you know that man is the distant nephew of the factory leader?"

"Then he won't stop working!"

Yan's mother gutted the fish, cleaned it, and replied calmly without looking up, "How is that possible? The factory is still named after your father, and the salary is still paid to your father. What's the use of his saying no?"

"What if that leader changed Dad's name to his nephew's name?"

"Impossible, you're just a kid, don't worry about this, just go back to bed and rest." Yan's mother pushed him out of the kitchen and began to concentrate on stewing fish soup to supplement the nutrition of the two injured patients.

Yan Sisi was pushed out of the kitchen. She thought of the aunt she met in Cuihu Garden that morning. She turned back and leaned against the door frame and said to her mother, "Mom, do you know where the family who came to propose marriage yesterday lives?"

"It's in the family building of the furniture particleboard factory next door. His father's name is Zhou Hua. Why are you asking this?" Yan's mother raised the shovel and turned to look at her daughter. "Could it be that the family is here again? Did they do anything?"

Facing her mother's nervous eyes, Yan Sisi quickly waved her hands and said, "No, I'm just asking."

After saying that, he turned around with a guilty conscience and walked towards the room.

She hasn't confirmed yet whether the person who came to propose marriage is the same person her aunt mentioned. She decided not to tell her parents yet to avoid making them worry and angry. It would be best if she could solve it herself, but if that doesn't work, she can ask her mother for help.

After lunch, Yan Sisi took her lunch box and said goodbye to her mother who was going to work in the afternoon. Before she reached the door of the ward, she heard her cousin's voice coming from inside.

Yan Sisi quickened her pace and walked over. She immediately saw her cousin Yan Xiangdong, who was chatting with her father. "Brother, why are you here?"

Yan Xiangdong, who was chatting with his second uncle, looked up and saw his cousin coming. He immediately stood up and said with a smile: "Sisi is here. I heard that my second uncle was injured, so I came to see him."

Yan Sisi handed the lunch box to her father, turned to look into her cousin's eyes and asked tentatively, "How did you know my dad was injured?"

Yan Xiangdong thought his cousin complained that he was late, so he scratched his head and said, "I just heard about it from a friend today, otherwise I would have come to visit my uncle a long time ago."

"Did you hear that from that person?"

Father Yan, who was sitting on the bed and eating, interrupted his daughter and said, "Your brother is not a criminal. Why are you asking so many questions?"

Yan Xiangdong smiled and said, "It's okay, uncle. Since Sisi is here, I will go back first."

Yan's father said, "Okay, then I won't send you off. When I am better, I will ask your father to come to my house for dinner."

Yan Sisi was now suspicious of everyone she saw. Seeing her cousin was about to leave, she quickly followed him and said, "Dad, I'll go see you off."

Yan Sisi and her cousin walked out of the hospital. Thinking of the doubts in her heart, she couldn't help but turn her head to observe her cousin carefully. Yan Xiangdong noticed the look in his cousin's eyes and asked with a smile: "How come you don't recognize me after not seeing me for a while?"

Yan Xiangdong looked at the bandage tied around his cousin's head again, frowned, and asked, "I haven't asked you what's going on with that. If any bastard bullies you, tell me and I'll teach him a lesson."

Yan Sisi withdrew her gaze and, listening to the usual concern, replied softly, "I accidentally hit my head, brother. Does uncle know that my dad is injured?"

"He probably doesn't know. I just heard about it from someone else." Yan Xiangdong stopped and turned to look at his cousin, knowing what she wanted to say. "Don't worry, I won't tell him. Uncle is alone in the ward, you should go back and accompany him!"

"Okay, then go slow."

Yan Xiangdong stood there looking at his cousin's back until she entered the hospital, then he turned around and walked in one direction.

Yan Sisi, who had already walked into the hospital, stood quietly in the corner and watched her cousin walk away. She slowly followed him and finally returned to the hospital after more than an hour.
