Chapter 56 Barbecue

Time passed quickly and it was the agreed day. Yan Sisi got up early in the morning and started to clean the yard, weeding and watering. It took her about an hour. After finishing, she returned to the room and picked some seasonal fruits and put them in the basket.

Then I went to the garden and cut some colorful flowers with scissors, and placed them casually on the table in the garden. Then I went back to the room and took out two vases with floral patterns. I trimmed the cut flowers with scissors and put them in the vases. Finally, I poured in diluted spiritual spring water to keep the flowers blooming longer.

Yan Sisi picked up the vase and looked at the light pink, yellow and blue flowers. She carefully adjusted their positions, placing them in the vase at different heights, and only stopped when she found it looked particularly pleasing to the eye.

Yan Sisi cleaned up all the cut branches on the table and placed two vases, one in the living room and the other on the table in the garden.

The second after the vase was placed on the table, there was a knock on the door. Tang Mingze shouted loudly, "Sisi, open the door."

"I'm here." Yan Sisi looked up and answered loudly, then ran to the door and opened it. She saw her brother standing at the door with the group of people she had met before. Everyone greeted her with a smile, and then walked in one by one, carrying things.

Yan Sisi held onto the door frame and watched them walk in. There were six people in total, four boys and two girls, all of whom were familiar faces. She closed the door only after everyone had come in.

The group of people put the things they brought directly in the yard. The boys started to assemble them directly, while the two girls walked to the garden full of flowers. Lan Jing looked at the small garden with many varieties of flowers, turned around and looked at Yan Sisi who followed her. She couldn't help but asked in surprise: "Sisi, did you plant all these?"

Seeing Yan Sisi nod, Lan Jing couldn't help but praise her, "You are amazing! You have at least a dozen varieties of flowers here! Especially this flower wall, it is so beautiful. I want to build a flower wall in my yard when I go back."

Another girl followed suit, saying, "I want to do it too. Besides, it smells so good here. If I could build a swing here and sit on a book, I could stay here all day without going out."

She also has a garden at home, but the flowers there aren't as pretty as the ones here. You can tell at a glance that it's been carefully cared for.

Yan Sisi accepted all their compliments, and she also thought that she had done a particularly good job in tidying up the yard.

Yan Sisi smiled at them and did not disturb them from appreciating the garden. She turned to the kitchen and poured two cups of jasmine tea, and brought them to the two girls who were still looking around in the garden, "Hey, come over and have some tea!"

Lan Jing picked it up and took a sip. "Hmm? Is this jasmine tea? It's different from what I drank before. It tastes especially sweet and delicious."

Yan Sisi, "If you like it, take some back when you leave."

She lives alone and has no close female friends. She drinks most of the scented tea she makes herself, and it's rare that she meets one she likes.

Yan Sisi chatted with them for a while, and seeing her cousin busying around, she finally couldn't help but run over to help. According to their requirements, she threaded the cut pieces of meat onto thin sticks.

After a while, the other two girls came over to help, and soon they had skewered all the meat that Tang Mingze and the others brought. The group then took a fancy to Yan Sisi's vegetable garden, and after getting her consent, they swarmed into the vegetable garden and started picking the fruits.

Yan Sisi returned to the kitchen, took out the fruits that she had picked earlier from the basket, washed them one by one, cut them into small pieces, and placed them neatly on an exquisite plate.

After everything was cut, Yan Sisi asked her brother to move a long table into the yard, covered it with a lace cloth mat, and then placed the fruit plate on it. The boys moved the chairs out of the house together, and the girls stood on the brazier rack that the boys had set up, and began to grill the skewered meat on it.

Yan Sisi stood aside and watched curiously. The fat secreted by the pork on the skewers slowly dripped onto the charcoal, and thick smoke rose up. The smell was quite fragrant, but the smoke was too thick.

Lan Jing couldn't stand it after grilling for a while and stepped back, giving her seat to other boys. She walked to Yan Sisi and helped her string the washed vegetables together.

Tang Mingze handed a few skewers of roasted pork to Yan Sisi, "Here, try your brother's cooking skills, it's absolutely amazing."

Yan Sisi took the skewer of meat, divided two skewers for the two girls next to her, and then carefully took a bite of the skewer. It tasted different. The pork she had eaten before was stewed or boiled, and this was the first time she had eaten roasted pork.

Lan Jing took the skewers, sprinkled a little chili powder on them, and ate them politely. Yan Sisi saw this and added some chili powder as well. The charred pieces of meat sprinkled with chili gave them a different taste.

After a barbecue, Yan Sisi tried adding chili, pepper, and soy sauce respectively, and ate it with vegetables and fruits. She felt like she had opened the door to a new world.

Yan Sisi's stomach was full by the end of the meal, so she sat at the table without moving, looking at the brazier rack they brought and taking note of it. She planned to make one herself and try the barbecue together with Gu Jingping when he came.

After the group of people had eaten and drunk their fill, they rested for a while and then cleaned up all the garbage together and dismantled all the shelves and other things they had brought.

Tang Mingze waved his hand to the others who had packed up and said, "You go first, I'll be there in a bit."

The others responded, looked at Yan Sisi and said, "Sisi, we're leaving first. We'll come and play with you when we have time."

Yan Sisi stood in the yard and waved to them: "Bye, welcome back next time."

After the group of people left, the courtyard that was bustling just now suddenly became quiet. Yan Sisi looked at her cousin who had not left yet, "You're not leaving?"

"My dad asked me to ask you to come back for dinner tomorrow?" Tang Mingze brought up the topic and only after seeing his cousin agree did he catch up with the large group in front.

Yan Sisi took a deep breath as she looked at the quiet yard. Although everyone had just cleaned up together, she still cleaned it again and put everything back in its original place.

The weather became colder and colder in the following days. Yan Sisi immersed herself in her studies every day, and Gu Jingping would come to see her whenever he had a break. Sometimes they went shopping together, and sometimes they stayed in the yard reading together. As time went by, they got to know each other better.

Yan Sisi liked the feeling when they were together. Sometimes she could understand what the other person meant with just a glance, and sometimes Gu Jingping expressed what she was thinking before she even said a word.

Everything is going in the right direction.

That day, when Yan Sisi walked to the door after school, she saw Yan Qianqian standing not far away. The moment she saw her, Yan Sisi turned around and walked in another direction, pretending not to see her, but in her heart she felt that she was looking for her.

Sure enough, the next second, she heard a voice calling her from afar. Yan Sisi didn't want to pay attention to her and continued walking forward without stopping.

"Yan Sisi." With a shout, Su Lin grabbed Yan Sisi's hand from behind.

Yan Sisi then stopped, turned around and looked at her puzzledly and asked, "Yan Qianqian, why are you here?"

"My name is Su Lin now." Su Lin frowned and said, after not seeing each other for such a long time, the person in front of her was still as beautiful as before. No, she looked more beautiful than before, and her skin was more delicate, which was completely different from the appearance of the person who died early in the dream.

Looking back at herself, she was completely different from the person in her dream. She almost suspected that it was all a fake dream.

It had been so long since I last saw Yan Qianqian that Yan Sisi almost forgot that she had changed her name. "Su Lin, are you here to see me?"

Su Lin looked around at the strange looks, frowned and said, "Yeah, are you going to let me talk to you on the street?"

Yan Sisi didn't want to stand at the school gate and get entangled with her, so she took her to a nearby park, stood under a tree and asked, "What do you want from me?"

The tone of her voice was not polite at all. She thought there was nothing more to say between them. She wondered why she suddenly showed up again?

"Can't I come and see how you are doing?" Su Lin looked at Yan Sisi's cold attitude. She didn't know why she came here today like a possessed person, as if she wanted to see Yan Sisi having a bad life so that she would feel better.

But when I actually met her in person, she didn't look haggard at all. I suddenly felt angry. Why could she live such an easy life, while I tried so hard to please my parents but still couldn't win their love?

She already knew a lot of things that were going to happen, but she still couldn't get what she wanted.

Yan Sisi didn't know the real purpose of her visit, and sneered: "You can see that. I'm living a good life now. If there is nothing else, I will leave."

As for Su Lin who suddenly appeared, she didn't think that she just came to see how she was doing.

She didn't want to tell him the real purpose of her visit, nor did she want to ask. After their fight, the little bit of family affection they had had long since vanished.

Yan Sisi frowned and looked at Su Lin. When she saw that she stopped talking, she turned around and left. She didn't plan to say anything more to her. In the time she spent talking to her, she had already read several pages of the book.

Su Lin looked at Yan Sisi's back and suddenly said, "You shouldn't exist."

In her dream, Yan Sisi should have died long ago and should not have existed at all.

But after such a long time, she is still alive and well. So is her dream real or just a figment of her imagination?

If it was just her imagination, why did she really find her biological parents? But if it was true, Yan Sisi should not exist.

Which one is true and which one is false?

Yan Sisi listened to what Su Lin said, stopped walking, turned around and looked at her and said, "I thought that even if we were not relatives, we had grown up together. I didn't expect that you saw me this way. If that's the case, from now on, just pretend that I don't exist in this world. I don't know you, and you don't know me."

Yan Sisi looked at Su Ling, who was deeply trapped in the dream with red eyes, and realized that she was still entangled in her own existence, as if possessed by a demon. She suddenly began to feel relieved. Before she came, she had been entangled in the dream, in which she was a supporting role who died early. She was always afraid that she would suddenly die one day, and she was always worried in her heart.

But looking at Su Lin across from her, she suddenly realized that she couldn't keep dwelling on the past. The reality was that she was not caught up in the rumors, she had a new fiancé, her parents were living well, she had a peculiar space bracelet with the elf Chuchu inside, and she was admitted to university.

Yan Sisi, who died early in the dream and whose parents passed away one after another, is different from herself now. She should not live her whole life relying on the things in her dreams. She has her own life and should not be immersed in dreams.

She should cherish every minute and every second of the present and live her own life well.

When Yan Sisi thought of this, the discomfort that had been weighing on her heart suddenly disappeared, and she felt an indescribable sense of relief in her body.

Yan Sisi finally looked up at Su Lin who was standing there, then turned and left without saying anything.
