Chapter 3 Hairy Potato

Liang Qi picked up her daughter, touched her head, and wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth.

Liang Qi put his daughter down and sat her on a small stool.

Liang Qi instructed, "Sit down, and let Mom check how much food is left in our potato cellar."

"I want to go too." Her daughter looked at her stubbornly with her big round eyes.

There was no other way, so Liang Qi had to carry him along. After a few steps, they arrived at the potato cellar.

She just wanted to see how much food was left at home so that she could have an idea and plan how to eat it while waiting for this year's food rations to arrive.

The entrance to the cellar was blocked with a 30-centimeter-thick round lid made of straw, with two handles sewn on it that could be lifted.

Liang Qi put the child down, walked forward and tried it, and pulled it open without much force. The moment the hole was opened, a fishy smell of earth hit his face.

He looked inside, but couldn't see clearly for a moment. It was pitch black. After waiting for some air to circulate, Liang Qi brought over a ladder.

Put it down along the cellar mouth,

"You stay here, mom will go down and take a look." Liang Qi stood at the entrance of the cellar and looked inside.

It would be best if there weren't any rats or anything like that.

Liang Qi slowly climbed up the ladder, tentatively stepping on the horizontal bars one by one, and came down tremblingly.

When I stepped on the ground, my heart instantly felt at ease, but my legs were a little out of control, and my vision gradually adjusted.

Only then did Liang Qi see clearly what was inside. It was a shape that looked like a bottle floating diagonally in the water. The entrance to the cave was not very steep from the ground, but it was not flat either.

The place wasn't very big, and Liang Qi could see about a dozen potatoes clustered together in the corner.

Looking closely, you can see that the potatoes are all clumped together. The temperature inside is just right, and the potatoes have sprouted. The branches on them have grown very long and are tangled together.

Liang Qi pulled up his trouser legs, squatted down, and started to break his pants.

Took a while to clean up.

The child had been outside for a long time without seeing his mother coming up, and he couldn't see clearly down there. It was pitch black inside, so he called out fearfully, "Mom?"

Liang Qi heard the child's cry and said, "Our potatoes have sprouted. Mom will clean them up and be out soon."

"Oh." The child heard his mother's voice and calmed down.

Liang Qi felt a little cold. Having been in this deep cellar for a long time with so little clothing, it was definitely very cold.

Quickly break off all the potato sprouts. Some potatoes have begun to wilt, have shrunk severely, are wrinkled, and still have a little elasticity.

It took only a few seconds to clean up the mess, and he took out two slightly larger potatoes.

"Baby, stand on the side of the cave entrance. Mommy will throw a few potatoes in." Liang Qi shouted from below.

"Stand still, mommy, you can throw it now." The cute baby voice of the little phoenix sounded.

Liang Qi heard that her daughter was standing in a safe place, so she threw the potato out.

Then he climbed up carefully holding the ladder with both hands.

This trip up and down the cellar can peel off a layer of Liang Qi's skin.

Bound feet are very difficult. Even those who bound their feet could endure it, which was beyond the reach of ordinary people. Their bones were deformed.

It's so cruel. Why didn't I travel through time earlier? Otherwise I could have stopped it. Now I can only have bound feet for the rest of my life.

You can't have surgery to make your feet bigger.

Liang Qi sighed deeply and could only adapt as quickly as possible because he had to go to work in the afternoon.

After blocking the hole, Liang Qi took the child to the kitchen.

"Mom, we haven't had vegetable pancakes for a long time." The child whispered.

"In the future, if you want to eat, we will make it for you, okay?" Liang Qi gently touched the child's head.

"Yeah," the child pulled Liang Qi's clothes and nodded heavily.

Liang Qi started to pick potatoes

The potato in Liang Qi's hand looked like it had blossomed, and in his hands, it became vinegary and clean.

After washing them clean, Liang Qi dug out the sprouting eyes of the potatoes. This thing cannot be eaten, and eating too much will cause poisoning.

After cleaning, peel and cut into shreds, put in a bowl, mix with some salt, some crushed peppercorns, put in the potato shreds, sprinkle with some cornmeal, and mix well.

Put a little bit of lard in the pot, a non-stick pot will do, put the mixed potato shreds in the pot, stir them evenly with a knife, spread them evenly, and bake them in the pot over low heat.

After a while, one side is fried golden and crispy, then continue to fry the other side.

"Mom, it smells so good! It smells even better than before." The child lay down beside the pot and waited.

Looking at the child lying on the edge of the pot, Liang Qi remembered that it was the same when she was a child. When her mother cooked delicious food, her brothers and sisters would gather around the pot, following it around, waiting for a bite of food.
