Chapter 448: Good

Outside the house, Zhang Xingrong looked at the man and then said, "Didn't you go back to see Grandpa?"

"No, I just came back from a mission and came directly from the camp." Lu Ran looked at her, feeling that he couldn't see enough. "I have something to tell you."

Since there was something to discuss, Zhang Xingrong couldn't just turn him away. She nodded and said, "Go in, wash up, and have something to eat first."

"Okay!" Lu Ran finally breathed a sigh of relief. After much persuasion, he was finally allowed in.

It’s really not easy to enter the Zhang family now!

The two of them entered the house together. Zhang Xingrong took him to the kitchen to boil some water and asked him to wash up. After washing, he sat down and said, "It's about your eldest brother."

Zhang Xingrong's heart instantly jumped: "My eldest brother? What happened to my eldest brother? Where is he?"

"Your brother is in the south. He was on a mission some time ago and was injured, but he's fine..."

"Injured?" Zhang Xingrong became even more nervous. She had been reborn and knew the situation in the south. The more she thought about it, the more worried she became. "Why is my brother injured? Is it serious?"

Lu Ran hurriedly explained: "Your brother is fine, he just suffered a minor injury. I went to see him in person, and it's really nothing serious, don't worry."

Zhang Xingrong felt relieved when she saw that Lu Ran didn't seem to be joking. But she wasn't completely relieved yet.

Lu Ran also knew that she would not feel at ease until she saw him. He took out a letter and gave it to her: "This is a letter from your brother."

Zhang Xingrong quickly took the letter, but her hands couldn't help but tremble. She hadn't heard from Zhang Hechen in a long time, so how could she not be excited?

This time Lu Ran did not disturb her, but sat aside and watched her read the letter quietly.

The letter wasn't very long. Zhang Hechen briefly explained his situation. He hadn't written home before because he had been on continuous missions all year. He wanted to reassure Zhang Xingrong and the others that he would definitely return to visit them when he had the chance.

But Zhang Xingrong knew that there might not be such an opportunity in the next few years.

She thought for a while, then turned to Lu Ran and said, "I have some medicine I want to give to my brother. Can I go see him?"

Lu Ran thought for a moment and said, "I have to go back and make arrangements."

"Okay!" Zhang Xingrong nodded.

After finishing the business, Lu Ran suddenly looked pitiful: "I'm hungry."

Zhang Xingrong couldn't hold back this time and got up to heat up some food for him. There was so much food yesterday that they couldn't even finish it. And since it was cold now, nothing would go bad. It hadn't snowed this year, making it a mild winter, but the temperature was still quite low.

She heated up the dishes, cooked some porridge over a high fire, and let Lu Ran eat. They didn't leave and set the table in the kitchen. There was a fire in the kitchen, so it was quite warm.

Lu Ran was really hungry, so he picked up the bowl and ate in big mouthfuls.

Seeing how hungry he was, Zhang Xingrong felt a little guilty: "Eat slowly, there's still plenty."

Lu Ran knew she felt guilty, and a smile appeared in his eyes, but he said: "I haven't eaten properly for many days. I ate a lot of wild fruits, some of which were rotten. This food is so delicious, it smells so good that I feel like I'm dreaming!"

Zhang Xingrong felt even more guilty after hearing this: "I'm not dreaming. Eat slowly, there's more in the pot."

"Yeah." Lu Ran stopped talking, nodded obediently, and began to eat slowly.

Sure enough, seeing how well-behaved he was, Zhang Xingrong couldn't bear to say anything unpleasant.

The meal took quite some time, and soon after the two came out of the kitchen, it was already late.
