Qin Shu's eyelashes trembled slightly, and her eyes were fixed on Qin Hairui calmly.
"Brother, do you want me to live in guilt and pain for the rest of my life?"
With just one sentence, Qin Hairui shut up.
He shook his head slightly, wanting to say no, but couldn't find any words to refute.
Qin Shu shifted her gaze and looked at Amuti: "I am not afraid of wild beasts in the mountains. No matter how fierce they are, they cannot overcome the resentment in my heart. If they dare to appear to stop me, their tendons and bones will be torn out."
Amuti asked in a stern voice: "Sister-in-law, are you planning to die for Brother Lan?"
Qin Shu raised the corners of her lips and revealed a smile that was uglier than crying: "How could it be, I'm not that stupid, I just gave this life back to him."
If Qin Shu hadn't had tears rolling down her eyes and her voice not trembling when she said this, it would have been somewhat believable.
Amuti pleaded in his voice: "You can't do this. Brother Lan did so much just to keep you alive. He wants you to survive."
Qin Shu cried and said, "Just because she sacrificed her life to keep me alive, do I have to wear shackles for the rest of my life and live in pain and self-blame forever?"
Amuti pursed his lips and said nothing.
Qin Shu raised her hand to wipe away the tears from her eyes: "I don't want to. I don't want to live in the pain of missing him forever, nor do I want to go through a long period of time, which might turn my joy for him into resentment. I don't want to live like a walking corpse for the rest of my life."
The audible words were clearly heard by Qin Hairui and Amuti.
Qin Shu ignored the two people's complicated expressions and turned around to continue climbing up the mountain.
This time, she slowed down, taking each step firmly on the stone steps, walking the path that Xie Lanzhi had walked before.
No one knew that every step she took was filled with self-inflicted heartache.
Qin Shu is a doctor and knows that her heart is damaged.
The moment she learned of Xie Lan's death, her spirit was gone. She felt no different from a walking corpse and was lucky to be alive.
Qin Hairui and Amuti stood where they were, watching Qin Shu's back as she climbed up step by step with difficulty.
"Damn it!" Qin Hairui cursed.
He stared at Amuti fiercely: "I'm going back to Yushan Village to get help. You watch Ah Shu and don't let her do anything stupid!"
Amuti frowned and asked tentatively, "Are you going to look for Chenchen?"
Qin Hairui lowered his voice and said, "What can a child like Chenchen do? I'm going to find grandpa. Grandpa will definitely not sit idly by!"
Amuti heaved a sigh of relief when he heard this: "Don't tell the children about Brother Lan and Sister-in-law for now."
"Got it! Keep in touch if you have any questions."
"good!"
Late at night, the moon hangs high in the sky.
The silver light spread all over Yunxiao Mountain, reflecting on the steep hillside steps. The cold moonlight enveloped a slender figure.
As the distance got closer, the thin and frail figure could be clearly seen, climbing tremblingly like an elderly person.
Amuti looked at Qin Shu, who was staggering, and spoke words of comfort dozens of times.
"Sister-in-law, take a rest. You can't hold on any longer like this."
Qin Shu seemed unable to hear anything. Her muscles had their own memories and she climbed up slowly and mechanically.
Suddenly, her ankle twisted outward and the sound of bone cracking was heard in the night.
Qin Shu lost her balance and fell to the left side of the hillside where there was no guardrail.
"careful!!!"
Amuti rushed back in one step.
