Chapter 14 Project Encounters Obstacles

Liu Lu's heart sank to the bottom.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

Who did it?

She looked around; the office was empty except for the howling wind outside the window and the distant barking of dogs.

She bent down, her hands trembling as she picked up the scattered documents, the bright red writing stinging her eyes like needles.

"Get out of the factory!" These four words seemed to carry endless malice, crashing heavily into her heart.

After the new project started, Liu Lu realized that she had taken on a hot potato.

Technical challenges kept emerging, but the project's progress was as slow as a snail's pace.

The parameters on the design drawings were so complex they were dizzying, and she was completely stumped when it came to debugging the key equipment.

She worked overtime continuously, her eyes were bloodshot, and she kept drinking cup after cup of tea, but she still felt powerless.

What exhausted her even more was that some of her coworkers seemed to be dissatisfied with her being in charge of the project.

They deliberately delayed the process, did a perfunctory job, and even turned a deaf ear when she needed assistance.

Liu Lu knew that these people were jealous of her, jealous that she, an outsider who had been "parachuted in," had gained the factory director's appreciation and was in charge of such an important project.

She was seething with anger, but she could only suppress it and silently endure it all.

She understood that now was not the time to act impulsively; she had to solve the project's problems as soon as possible and prove her abilities.

Despite such difficulties, Liu Lu did not give up.

She studied the blueprints, consulted relevant materials, and sought advice from experienced craftsmen repeatedly.

Factory Director Wang also gave her tremendous support, holding numerous technical seminars to encourage everyone to pool their wisdom and work together to overcome the difficulties.

Thanks to everyone's joint efforts, the project has finally made some progress, but there is still a long way to go to reach the final goal.

That evening, Liu Lu dragged her tired body home, where her daughter Liu Bei was already asleep.

Because of my promotion, I was allocated a two-bedroom, one-living-room factory dormitory apartment. I've been working a lot of overtime lately, so I told my daughter to go straight home after school and dinner.

She gently entered her daughter's room, and looking at her daughter's peaceful sleeping face, a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

She bent down and gently kissed her daughter's forehead.

Suddenly, she noticed a beautifully wrapped chocolate on her daughter's small desk; it was her favorite brand…

Liu Lu's eyes welled up with tears.

This chocolate must have been specially saved for her by her daughter.

Her sensible daughter is her motivation to move forward and a comfort in her weary life.

She carefully peeled the chocolate, put it in her mouth, and the sweet taste instantly melted away her fatigue and grievances.

She secretly vowed that no matter how great the difficulties she encountered, she would persevere, for her daughter and for herself.

The next day, Liu Lu went to the factory as usual, but found that the atmosphere was a bit strange.

Her coworkers, who usually mocked her, were all silent today, and some even took the initiative to greet her.

She felt a little confused, but didn't think much of it and went straight to her workstation to start her day's work.

During the lunch break, Director Wang called her into his office.

"Xiao Liu, you've been working hard lately." Factory Director Wang's voice was gentle, with a hint of apology on his face. "Some colleagues in the factory had some misunderstandings about you before, and I've already criticized and educated them. I hope you won't take these things to heart in the future and will focus on your work."

Liu Lu then realized that it was Factory Director Wang who had stepped in to resolve the problems of those workers.

She was filled with gratitude and also felt much relieved.

Without those deliberate obstacles and hindrances, the project progressed much more smoothly.

One by one, the technical challenges were overcome, and the progress bar began to move steadily forward.

However, the good times didn't last long.

Just as the project was about to enter a critical phase, a new problem arose.

The debugging of key equipment failed to achieve the expected results, which directly led to the stagnation of the entire project.

Liu Lu was once again in a predicament. She checked the equipment and verified the parameters again and again, but she still couldn't find the problem.

She felt overwhelmed and under immense pressure.

That night, Liu Lu once again worked overtime until late.

She rubbed her aching temples, gazing at the dark night sky outside the window, feeling utterly helpless.

Just then, there was a gentle knock on the office door.

"Who is it?" Liu Lu looked up and saw a tall, thin figure standing at the door. In the dim light, she couldn't see the person's face clearly.

"It's me." The person took a few steps closer, and Liu Lu could see clearly that it was Technician Sun.

"Why are you still at the factory so late?" Liu Lu asked, somewhat surprised.

Technician Sun smiled and said, "I saw your office light was still on, so I came over to check. I heard you've been having some trouble lately?"

Liu Lu nodded, sighed, and said, "Yes, the debugging of this equipment has been going poorly. I've tried all sorts of methods, but it still doesn't work."

Technician Sun walked over to the equipment, examined it carefully, and then said, "Let me give it a try." Liu Lu hesitated. Although Technician Sun was a key technical staff member in the factory, he had not been involved in this project before.

Technician Sun seemed to sense Liu Lu's concerns. He smiled and said, "Don't worry, although I'm not in charge of this project, I also want to contribute to the factory."

Liu Lu nodded and said, "Then I'll have to trouble you."

Technician Sun began adjusting the equipment; his movements were skilled and precise, and his eyes shone with confidence.

Time passed slowly, and the office was silent except for the hum of the equipment.

Suddenly, Technician Sun stopped what he was doing, looked up at Liu Lu, and a mysterious smile appeared on his lips...

"Well..."

Technician Sun smiled mysteriously, but then kept everyone in suspense: "Tell me first what methods you've tried?"

Liu Lu shared her experience without reservation, explaining in detail the various solutions she had tried and the problems she had encountered during this period.

Technician Sun listened attentively, nodding occasionally and asking a few questions now and then, his eyes sparkling with thoughtful consideration.

After listening to Liu Lu's explanation, Technician Sun pondered for a moment and said, "Your approach is in the right direction, but you overlooked a key parameter."

He pointed to an inconspicuous value on the drawing and explained, "A tiny deviation in this parameter can lead to a huge difference in the final result."

Liu Lu suddenly realized that she had noticed this parameter before, but had not paid it any attention.

After a brief explanation from Technician Sun, she immediately understood the crux of the problem.

"So that's how it is!" Liu Lu exclaimed excitedly, slapping the table with a gleam of excitement in her eyes.

She immediately followed Technician Sun's advice, readjusted the parameters, and restarted the equipment.

This time, the equipment operated smoothly, and all indicators achieved the expected results.

"It's a success!" Liu Lu jumped up excitedly and hugged the technician Sun next to her.

"Thank you, Mr. Sun! You're amazing!"

Technician Sun was a little embarrassed by Liu Lu's sudden hug. He gently patted Liu Lu's shoulder and said, "Don't mention it, it's what I should do."

At this moment, Master Zhao also rushed over upon hearing the news. Seeing that the equipment had been successfully debugged, he happily high-fived Liu Lu and Technician Sun in celebration.

"Great! Now the project can finally proceed smoothly!" Master Zhao said excitedly.

Looking at the excited crowd, Liu Lu felt a deep sense of gratitude.

She knew that without everyone's help, she would not be able to overcome this difficulty.

Factory Director Wang also received the news. He rushed to the scene immediately and saw that the equipment had been successfully debugged, and a relieved smile appeared on his face.

"Xiao Liu, you did a great job!" He walked up to Liu Lu, patted her on the shoulder, and said, "I believe you can lead the team to complete this project!"

Liu Lu nodded firmly and said, "I will definitely live up to your expectations!"

Just as everyone was immersed in joy, Technician Sun suddenly spoke up: "Although the equipment has been successfully debugged, but..." He paused, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes, "to truly implement this plan, we still need a considerable amount of funding..."

Technician Sun's words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly freezing the previously jubilant atmosphere.

Funding has always been the biggest challenge for this project.

The previous budget was already very tight, so how easy is it to get additional funding now?

Liu Lu's heart sank again. She glanced at the excited Master Zhao, then at the worried Factory Director Wang, took a deep breath, and said, "Engineer Sun, can you estimate how much funding we'll need?"

Technician Sun pondered for a moment and then gave a number.

This figure caused everyone present to gasp in shock; it was almost half of the initial budget for the project!

Master Zhao couldn't help but say, "It's probably going to be difficult for the factory to approve such a large sum of money." His tone was full of worry.

Factory Director Wang frowned as well. After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Xiao Liu, this plan is indeed very good, but the funding issue is a real problem. I will do my best to appeal to the higher-ups, but you also need to be prepared that it may not be approved."

Liu Lu understood Director Wang's predicament, and she also knew what this number meant.

But she was unwilling to give up. This project was the result of her hard work and was about to succeed, but it was all ruined because of funding problems. She just couldn't accept it.

"Director Wang, please reconsider," Liu Lu said firmly. "I believe this plan will succeed. As long as we solve the funding problem, we can completely solve the equipment problem, and the project can proceed smoothly!"

Looking at Liu Lu's determined eyes, Director Wang also wavered a little.

He knew Liu Lu's abilities and trusted her judgment.

However, he really didn't dare to make a decision easily regarding such a large sum of money.

"Alright, Xiao Liu," Director Wang said after a moment's thought, "you compile the detailed plan and budget and give it to me. I will apply to the higher-ups again to see if we can secure this funding."

Liu Lu nodded gratefully and said, "Thank you, Director Wang. I will prepare the materials as soon as possible."

After leaving Director Wang's office, Liu Lu immediately returned to her workstation and began organizing the documents.

She meticulously calculated every expense, striving to keep the budget to a minimum.

She knew that this was not just a budget, but a commitment to the project and to everyone who supported her.

Time passed slowly, and Liu Lu finally finished organizing all the data.

She took a deep breath, picked up the documents, and walked towards Director Wang's office...

"Director Wang, I..."
