Chapter 9 Recruitment Turmoil 2

The next morning, several people arrived, much to Liu Lu's surprise.

It turned out to be Zhang Baogen's family.

Liu Lu felt extremely frustrated. Was it more fashionable in this world to offend people first and then try to please them later?

Moreover, because of Old Mrs. Liu's family the night before, Liu Lu understood why these people had come to her place.

As the saying goes, you can't hit a smiling face.

The family, including Zhang Baogen, came over with smiles, and Liu Lu couldn't just send them away.

Compared to the Liu family, Zhang Baogen's family was more sincere; at least they brought gifts.

Hmm, this is about half a basket of wild vegetables.

There is sincerity, but not much.

Zhang Qun was a burly, middle-aged man with small eyes that darted around, their pupils gleaming with a cunning light.

“Sister Liu, my Baogen pushed your little girl into the river before. I gave him a good scolding at home and beat him up.”

Zhang Qun glanced at Liu Lu's face and said, "We were planning to visit you a couple of days ago, but to show our sincerity, we went up the mountain to dig some wild vegetables for you, to add some to your meal. There are also some medicinal herbs in the vegetables to help the child get better. That's why we're a few days late."

Zhang Qun turned and glared at Zhang Baogen: "Baogen, what are you standing there for? Go and apologize to that little girl from Liu's family."

Zhang Baogen didn't want to go at all, but he was even more afraid of his father, so he walked slowly and unsteadily to Liu Bei, lowered his head under Liu Bei's clear gaze, and hummed in a voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz: "I'm sorry."

"Alright, you've apologized, and we accept your apology. You can leave now."

Looking at Zhang Baogen's unwilling expression, Liu Lu felt a pang of sympathy and wished the family would disappear immediately.

"Hey, no rush, no rush, let's just chat casually," Zhang Qun said, while nudging his wife.

Baogen's mother had never really liked Liu Lu, but this time she was forced to take the initiative. With a face full of reluctance, she went straight to the point: "I heard you're going to work at the Hongxing Machinery Factory in town."

"We just want to ask if there are any positions suitable for our husbands."

Liu Lu forced a smile: "Oh dear, then there's nothing I can do. My job situation isn't settled yet; I'm asking around. Yours is even more uncertain, since I'm not the factory manager."

Baogen's mother said sarcastically, "Oh dear, you're holding a grudge over such a small conflict between our children? Besides, Baogen's brother has already come over to apologize. Wouldn't it be a bit unreasonable for you not to help?"

Liu Lu felt speechless. Looking at Bao Gen's mother, wondering what kind of people she was, she spoke up without any politeness.

“If you can come all the way to apologize for a conflict between children, then it proves that it was indeed your child who did something wrong.”

"Whether I help you or not has no necessary connection with whether you apologize or not. Just because you apologize, does that mean I have to find you a job? Are you all overestimating your abilities? Or am I just too easygoing, giving you the wrong impression?"

"If there's nothing else, you can go now. We're too busy at home to entertain you."

"I told you not to come to her, she's not going to do anything for us!" Bao Gen's mother stood up cursing, grabbing Zhang Bao Gen and pulling her husband to leave.

Seeing that the conversation had run its course and there was no way to continue, Zhang Qun could only force a smile and say, "Then we'll be going."

Then I went out with my wife and kids.

Throughout the day, Liu Lu received several groups of villagers, young and old, men and women, all of whom were asking about work.

Otherwise, they would ask Liu Lu if she knew any ways to arrange a job for her family members.

This gave Liu Lu a huge headache. She even considered putting a note on the door explaining that she couldn't assign work to anyone else.

But when she thought about how few people in the village could read, she gave up.

A few days passed, and the villagers gradually realized that Liu Lu couldn't find work. They became less enthusiastic about her, and no one came over to try and get information from her under the guise of visiting or chatting.

Liu Lu breathed a huge sigh of relief.

That morning, Liu Lu and Liu Bei had just finished breakfast and were tidying up the house when they heard a knock at the door.

Liu Lu went to open the door, and there stood a middle-aged woman he had never seen before.

"Excuse me, are you Liu Lu?"

The woman asked the question with a hint of reserve and politeness.

Liu Lu nodded: "That's right, I just wanted to ask you what you need me for?"

The woman immediately became more enthusiastic: "Ah, I'm Zhang Yuan's wife. I picked him up from school a few days ago, and he kept telling me that a young woman found him on the mountain and that's how he was rescued. I came here today to properly thank you."

"Oh, what are you thanking me for?" Liu Lu waved her hand.

"If you see someone in distress on the mountain, you should help them. You can't just stand by and watch them die."

Zhang Yuan's wife said gratefully, "It's all thanks to you for saving our husband, otherwise our family simply wouldn't be able to survive."

As she spoke, she put down the fruit and food she had brought from her phone.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing. Zhang Yuan specifically asked me to pass on a message to you since I came here."

"He said he would keep an eye out for a job at the factory for you, and that you don't need to have a junior high school education now. There are currently two positions: one is a cleaner, who is responsible for cleaning the workshop, and the other is a gatekeeper."

"Think about it yourself, consider whether you want to do that job."

Liu Lu asked, "Could you please tell me the specifics of these two jobs?"

Zhang Yuan's wife was also an employee of Hongxing Machinery Factory, and she knew the various positions in the factory very well. She carefully explained the working hours and job duties to Liu Lu.

Liu Lu thought for a moment and said, "To be honest, I'd really like to do both of these jobs. But I have a daughter. If I go to work, I'll have to leave her at home, and I'm worried about that. I was thinking that a job as a doorman would be more flexible, and I could take my child with me."

Zhang Yuan's wife smiled and said, "You're right, but don't worry, since you're a gatekeeper, there are dormitories in the factory. You can definitely apply for a dormitory."

After you become a full-time employee and work for a certain number of years, the factory will provide you with housing.

Hearing this, Liu Lu was pleasantly surprised, recalling that in the 1970s and 80s, state-run factories did indeed have housing allocations.

After Zhang Yuan's wife finished explaining what she had specifically instructed, she sat for a short while and then took her leave.

Liu Bei looked at Liu Lu's mother happily and asked, "Are we going to live in town from now on?"

Liu Lu smiled and patted Liu Bei's head: "Mom really wants to go to town to find a job. After all, we don't have any land in the village. We always go up the mountain to hunt and pick wild vegetables, and life is still a bit difficult. If we go to town to work, we'll have a stable life."

"And when you're a little older, I'd like you to go to school in town."

"Can I go to school?" Liu Bei asked in surprise.

Several wealthy families in the village send their children to school in town, and Liu Bei has always envied such children.

Now that she heard that Liu Lu was also going to take her to school, Liu Bei was overjoyed and so excited that she didn't know what to say.

"Of course. Look at the machine factory in our town. They need to be educated to hire skilled workers. If you study hard in the future, you will be able to get a good job because of your good education."

"Yes, Mom, don't worry, I will definitely study hard if I go to school."

Liu Bei made a serious promise to Liu Lu.
