Chapter 10
Song Shiyu finished a day's work and just got into the car to go home when his phone screen lit up, indicating that there was a new friend request.
He glanced casually and saw "Gu Chun" written on the application note. His brows furrowed slightly, and he immediately remembered the "friend's son" his mother had mentioned a few days ago.
Instinctively, he wanted to refuse, and his fingertips hovered above the screen for a moment, but in the end, he considered his mother's face and reluctantly nodded yes.
Almost instantly, the other party sent a message, worded appropriately and politely: "Hello, Mr. Song, I'm Gu Chun, sorry to bother you."
Song Shiyu tapped his fingertips lightly and responded with the same formal politeness: "Hello, Mr. Gu, nice to meet you."
After a few words, he threw his phone aside, no longer in the mood for a deeper conversation, as if he had just completed a social task that he had to do.
The next day, Ruan Ning called Song Shiyu back home.
As soon as he stepped into the living room, his eyes met a strange figure.
The man had his back to him, with an upright posture and broad shoulders. He was wearing a well-tailored dark gray casual suit with no visible logo but excellent texture.
Hearing the footsteps, the other person turned around - an impeccably handsome face came into view, with deep and three-dimensional features, a healthy wheat-colored skin, a pair of thin-rimmed gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, the eyes behind the lenses were sharp and steady, and there was a perfect smile at the corners of his lips.
The whole person exudes an elite temperament from the inside out, which has been precipitated by time and nourished by experience. He is mature and charming.
Ruan Ning came forward with a smile and introduced him enthusiastically, "Xiaojiu, you're back! Come here quickly. This is Uncle Gu's son, Gu Chun, whom Mommy told you about."
She turned to Gu Chun, "Gu Chun, this is my son, Song Shiyu."
Gu Chun's gaze fixed on Song Shiyu. At that moment, a hint of amazement that was difficult to conceal flashed across his eyes.
The young man in front of me is tall, with a perfect height of 1.87 meters. His simple clothes cannot hide his superior body proportions.
His facial features are handsome and very impactful, with deep eyebrows, a high nose bridge, and full lips. Especially his peach blossom eyes, which are a little distant at the moment, but add a bit of mystery that attracts people to explore.
The sunlight poured in from the large floor-to-ceiling window behind him, as if coating his entire body with a layer of light golden halo, so dazzling that it made people's heart tremble.
"Mr. Song, I've long heard of you." Gu Chun extended his hand first, with a gentle smile and impeccable manners.
Song Shiyu instantly calmed down his surprise and regained his usual composure. He extended his hand and shook his hand generously, with moderate strength and perfect timing, neither too warm nor too polite.
"Mr. Gu, welcome."
He clearly felt the warmth from the other's palm and a subtle, slightly increased force, but he remained expressionless, pretending not to understand the light of strong interest and appreciation that was almost overflowing from Gu Chun's eyes.
Ruan Ning looked at the two equally good-looking young men standing together and smiled from ear to ear. He quickly asked them to sit down and left some space for them under the pretext of going to the kitchen to check on the progress of dinner.
There were only two people left in the living room.
Gu Chun leaned back slightly, his eyes still fixed on Song Shiyu, with an undisguised scrutiny and admiration. He was the first to break the silence, his tone natural and familiar: "I'm a few years older than you, so I'll follow Aunt Ruan and call you Xiaojiu. Do you mind?"
Song Shiyu picked up the tea that the servant had just served, took a sip, and said indifferently: "It's just a title, Mr. Gu, please feel free to do as you please." His reaction was flat and no emotion could be heard.
Gu Chun didn't care about his indifference. He smiled slightly and introduced himself: "I'm 29 years old, six years older than you. If you don't mind, you can call me Brother Gu."
He certainly doesn't look like a man who's about to turn thirty. His skin is tight and his body is in great shape. His broad shoulders and the lines of his chest muscles faintly visible through his shirt material show the strength that comes from regular exercise.
"Okay, Brother Gu." Song Shi readily agreed, but his tone still carried a distinct sense of distance, as if there was a layer of invisible glass between them.
Gu Chun looked at his cold and distant appearance, and his interest in him increased instead of decreased.
He has been in the love world for many years and has met many people, but it is rare to find someone like Song Shiyu, who combines family background, appearance, temperament, and a touch of arrogance and mystery.
At first sight, he confirmed that this man completely met his aesthetic standards, and even made him feel a strong desire to conquer that had not been felt for a long time.
Before long, Ruan Ning invited them to dinner. During the meal, she looked at Gu Chun and said with concern, "Gu Chun, why didn't your mother come with you today? I even asked the kitchen to prepare her favorite dishes."
Gu Chun put down his chopsticks, wiped the corners of his mouth with his napkin gracefully, and smiled appropriately: "Aunt Ruan, I'm so sorry. My mother had some urgent matters to attend to, so she asked me to apologize to you and said she would come to your house in person to make amends next time."
After hearing what he said, Ruan Ning didn't want to blame his good friend Zhao Qing for breaking the appointment, so he smiled and waved his hand.
Throughout the meal, Song Shiyu ate quietly and hardly spoke a word. He only responded briefly when his mother or Gu Chun asked questions. He was polite but distant.
After the meal, Ruan Ning winked at her son, her tone implying she couldn't refuse: "Xiaojiu, this is Gu Chun's first time home, take him around the manor to help him digest his food. Our garden has quite a nice view."
Song Shiyu wanted to ignore his mother's eyes full of hints and expectations, but in the end he had no choice but to stand up and make a "please" gesture to Gu Chun: "Brother Gu, please come this way."
The two walked out of the main house one after the other and stepped into the manor under the night. This was a gift from Ruan Ning to Song Shihe for his eighteen-year-old coming-of-age ceremony. It was more like a private, luxurious kingdom than a manor.
As far as the eye can see, there is a large lawn carefully planned by top landscape designers. It is as soft and smooth as a green velvet carpet, stretching into the distance.
In the distance, you can vaguely see a shimmering artificial lake with a retro pavilion in the center.
On both sides of the winding stone path are precious trees and rare flowers that bloom all year round. The air is filled with the faint fragrance of grass and the sweet scent of night flowers.
Further away, you can even see a standard-sized golf driving range and an open-air swimming pool that glows a faint blue in the night.
Soft landscape lights are cleverly embedded everywhere, decorating the entire manor like a dream. It is both majestic and extremely luxurious, silently demonstrating the wealth and status of the Song family.
The two walked in silence for a while on the soft grass.
The evening breeze blew by with a cool feeling.
Gu Chun stopped, turned around, looked at Song Shiyu with burning eyes, and decided not to beat around the bush anymore.
His voice was deep, with the unique magnetism and straightforward confidence of a mature man: "Xiaojiu, I am a direct person. The first time I saw you, I must admit that I was very interested in you."
