The veins on Bals's head increased instantly.
"That's not the right reaction! Are you even reflecting on yourself?!"
"Bars——! What are you angry about? Are you going to yell in front of me? Do you still look like a king now?!"
Apeiru scolded.
"Hey...but mother, she..."
"No buts, I have no objections. Where do you get so many opinions? Now get out of here. I don't want to talk to you anymore. I want to talk to my granddaughter."
"Well... ..."
Bars' ears drooped instantly.
"yes... ..."
He stood up reluctantly and walked outside. When he passed by Mi Ke, he glared at her fiercely.
Miko shrank her neck and stuck out her tongue at him as soon as he left.
Hulim stood at the door and watched Bals walk away with an angry look on his face, then looked at Miko who had regained his energy inside.
For some reason, she had a feeling that Miko was going to be in trouble in the near future...
"Mother-in-law~!"
Miko ran to Aperu happily.
"Well, good boy~!"
Aperu patted her head lovingly, then looked out the door.
"Children outside, please come in."
Hearing the sound, Hulim walked in.
"Hello, my name is Hulim Hyeral."
"Well, Haieral... you're from the Pasarra Empire. If you have any questions, just ask me. Although I'm just an old woman, I can easily answer some questions for you young people."
The Aperu in front of him looked quite old, his eyes narrowed into slits, his expression peaceful, and he sat cross-legged on a blanket.
"You're Miko's friend, right? Don't be shy, just call me Granny Aperu like Miko does."
"Okay, Grandma Aperu... I'm here to ask you about the Hecadiza Mountains. Why is it sealed off?"
"Oh~, Hecadiza..."
Aperu's narrowed eyes opened slightly.
Then it turned back into a crack.
"It's very dangerous there now. What's the matter with you going there?"
"Yes, there is one thing I want to investigate clearly."
"Is that so..."
"It's not something that I can't tell you, so I'll tell you."
"That was twelve years ago..."
Aperu began to narrate slowly.
One day, an earthquake suddenly struck the peaceful Hecadiza Mountains. At first, no one paid much attention to it, believing it to be just an isolated, sudden phenomenon.
"But then, all sorts of anomalies started to appear there."
"The creatures in the mountains are becoming increasingly violent. Even the originally gentle creatures have become extremely aggressive. They don't distinguish between intruders and their own kind; even their own cubs and blood relatives become targets of attack."
"The fighting became increasingly frequent and gradually spread. By the time we reacted, the entire mountain range was already filled with the smell of blood. All those who still had any sense, whether animals or monsters, were desperately fleeing the area."
"To find out what happened, we sent people deep into the mountains to investigate. However, after a month of investigation, not only did we not get any answers, but even the large number of investigation teams we sent out only managed to find one in ten."
"Everyone, like the creatures in the mountains, seemed to have been cursed and lost their minds. Their eyes were filled with only anger towards everything in the world, and they attacked everyone indiscriminately. Even those who managed to survive had undergone drastic changes in their personalities, and the slightest thing would make them furious..."
"well... ..."
Aperu sighed.
He continued.
"Since long ago, many rumors have circulated about that mountain range, and among them is a vague rumor recorded only in some ancient archive."
"That record describes a forbidden existence that possesses unimaginable power and can unleash disasters, sealed beneath that mountain.
In the past, no one believed the rumor, and some even thought it was a story made up by people in ancient times. However, because it is a very old document and has special significance, it has been preserved.
If it weren't for the incident twelve years ago, I would have been like those people and didn't believe the rumor. However, this curse that covers the entire mountain range, perhaps only the legendary existence with forbidden power can explain it..."
Taboo exists...
Hulim was a little surprised to hear such a thing. For some reason, she suddenly remembered Irus's strange reaction when she told her about the Hecadiza Mountains.
Could it be that Irus also knew about this? Could the thing she avoided talking about at the time be the taboo that Aperu mentioned?
"Grandma Aperu, have you explored the existence of that taboo?"
Hulim asked.
"Yes, when I realized it might be the rumored thing, I immediately arranged for people to look for it, but..."
"As I said just now, even though we made sufficient preparations to resist the curse this time, we still failed. All the items used to resist the curse were ineffective. Only a few people who carried magic items that protected their will survived and returned."
