Chapter 67: Lezelian's Gift

Even though Hulim didn't know much about weapons, he knew that this sword was made by a master.

"How is it, do you like it?"

Seeing his daughter couldn't let go of it, Lezelian asked with a smile.

"Um!"

Hulim nodded, then seemed to have thought of something and looked up and asked:

"Father, this sword is very expensive, isn't it? Our family's financial situation..."

Lezelian's smile froze instantly.

“Ahem…”

After coughing twice, Lezelian said with an awkward smile,

"It's... not really expensive. Don't worry, our family can still afford it."

"However... just in case, you should try not to expose your sword in public, so as not to attract the covetousness of those with ill intentions."

No wonder the scabbard is so ordinary...

Hulim did not expose the lie that Lezelian was not expensive. The people of the Haieral family would not do things that would disappoint others just to please themselves. Similarly, Lezelian would not do things that would make others worry because of his concern for his daughter. So although the property consumption was indeed huge, it was far from being a burden to the Haieral family.

She nodded.

"I understand, Father."

Hulim sheathed the sword again and held it in his hand, intending to go back and find a belt to tie the sword around his waist or back.

Lezelian was very pleased with his daughter's sensible attitude. After hesitating for a moment, he spoke again:

"Besides that, there's one more thing."

As he said this, his attitude couldn't help but become serious.

"Hulim, you should know that my father's wish is to revitalize the Haieral family and restore the glory of our ancestors."

Hulim nodded.

Lezelian continued,

"And Hulim, you have received a recommendation for admission to the world's leading magic school, Manax School of Magic. This means that your talent is among the best in the history of the Hyeral family—"

"so!"

Lezelian paused, then said very seriously,

"Dad hopes that you will not take anything about the Hailar family to heart from now on!"

Hulim stared at her father with wide eyes, not understanding.

"well--"

Lezelian sighed and said:

"Dad's wishes are his, not yours. You have your own life. If your talent were similar to that of an ordinary Hailar family member, then Dad wouldn't say anything if you worked hard for the family. But you have great talent! This means that your future is even brighter. Dad doesn't want you to be bound by a mere family. He only hopes that you can spread your wings and have your own wonderful life! This is more important than anything else..."

"Father, I..."

Lezelian shook his head.

"Hulim, you don't have to tell me what you think. Let Dad be willful for once..."

Hulim looked at her father silently for a long time, then slowly answered.

"...I understand, Father."
