The official start date of the school year at the provincial university was set on the 30th day of the first lunar month, so reporting was naturally brought forward to the 29th day of the first lunar month.
After discussing with Lin Jiayu, Cheng Maixiang decided to go to the provincial capital on the 27th day of the first lunar month. After arriving in the provincial capital, they would rest for one day to adapt to the environment so that they could report to the school on the 29th.
On the 27th day of the first lunar month, Cheng's mother, Cheng's eldest brother and his wife, his second brother and his wife, along with their four children, took Cheng Maixiang, Lin Jiayu, and Lin Qingwan and her daughter to the county bus station.
This was the first time her daughter had left home since she grew up. Mother Cheng always thought she was a strong person, but when she saw her daughter about to leave, she couldn't help but shed tears.
Cheng Maixiang hugged her mother and whispered in her ear, "Mom, don't be sad. It's not like I'm going to the provincial capital and won't be back. When the holidays come, Jiayu and I will come back to see you."
Cheng's mother nodded repeatedly, and Cheng Maixiang deliberately said in a sinister tone, "Mom, I'm going to the provincial capital. Don't think you can be lazy now. The whole business of the garment workshop depends on you. I hope that when I come back, you can tell me that the new employees have been recruited."
Since Cheng Maixiang founded this garment factory a year and a half ago, she has been taking care of it most of the time. The garment factory is like her other child. If she loses the garment factory and goes to the provincial capital, Cheng Maixiang really doesn't know how she will endure these long and boring days.
Thinking of this, she felt somewhat grateful to her daughter for leaving her such a factory so that she would not be idle all day long. She felt sad thinking about her daughter leaving home.
"Go away. How can a daughter spend the whole day thinking about arranging work for her mother? You are an unfilial daughter." Although Cheng's mother was reluctant to part with her daughter, she still felt a little embarrassed to be hugged by her daughter in front of so many people. She quickly pushed her away and deliberately scolded her.
Cheng Maixiang giggled and gently wiped the tears from her mother's face. Brother Cheng and his wife were also there to persuade her. Mother Cheng was not the sentimental type and patted her daughter on the shoulder. "Don't worry, you went to high school in the county before, and the garment factory is running well. I will take care of the recruitment. I'm even waiting for you to be appointed factory director!"
Cheng Maixiang couldn't help but burst out laughing, and Lin Jiayu beside her also laughed. Seeing that everyone was in a much better mood, Cheng Ersao said, "Maizi, after the garment workshop moves to the new factory, what official position do you plan to give to your second sister-in-law?"
Mother Cheng was afraid that she would force her daughter to make a promise at this time, so she quickly pushed her away and said, "Okay, it's almost time. We should take Maizi to check the tickets."
Lin Jiayu carried the luggage, Cheng Maixiang took the bag from Mrs. Cheng, Lin Qingwan held Yingying's hand, and Qiaomai followed closely beside them. Both girls had sad faces and looked reluctant to part.
It was time to check in and enter the station. Yingying held Qiaomai's hand, tears streaming down her face. "Qiaomai, I'll come back to Shuangshui Village to see you as soon as I have a holiday. If you're free, remember to come to the provincial capital to see me!"
"Yingying, don't cry, don't cry," Qiaomai tried desperately to persuade her, but she herself was crying. "I will definitely come to see you. Don't worry, when we get to the provincial capital, play with the other kids. If anyone dares to bully you, tell me and I'll beat him up to vent your anger!"
"Yeah!" Yingying nodded heavily.
Several adults looked at the two little girls with smiles on their faces. Cheng Maixiang couldn't help but think of her best friend in her previous life. The two of them had similar interests and could talk about anything. They shared their little secrets with each other and would confide in each other when they had troubles.
The friendship between Yingying and Qiaomai is rare. No matter where they go in the future, they will probably always remember this childhood friendship.
The car slowly drove out of the county bus station. The Cheng family members waved goodbye to the car desperately, but Qiaomai screamed and tried to chase the car, but Aiguo held her down. She cried and twisted her body.
Yingying also hid in Lin Qingwan's arms in the car and burst into tears, sobbing and asking, "Mom, do we have to go to the provincial capital? I can't bear to leave Qiaomai, can we go back?"
Lin Qingwan touched her head and shook it slightly, and Yingying burst into tears again.
Cheng Maixiang looked out the window and saw the figures of her relatives getting smaller and smaller. In the end, she could not see anything at all, and her eyes could not help but become moist.
Lin Jiayu put his arm around her and comforted her softly, "As soon as you have a holiday, I will take you back to see mom, brother and sister-in-law."
Cheng Maixiang nodded slightly. When people grow up, they will leave home and their loved ones. This may be a fate that cannot be escaped no matter what era they live in.
The car bumped along for more than three hours and finally arrived at the provincial capital at around twelve o'clock in the morning.
The four of them followed the crowd out of the bus station. As soon as they exited the station, they saw Wei Lingcheng standing beside them with a smile on his face. It seemed that he had come to pick them up in advance.
As soon as Wei Lingcheng saw Yingying, he picked her up. Seeing the tears still on Yingying's face, he immediately asked nervously, "Yingying, who bullied you? Why are you crying?"
Yingying pouted and said, "I miss Qiaomai. Why can't she come to the provincial capital? I want her to come with me."
Wei Lingcheng gently wiped away the tears on her face and coaxed her softly, "Then after your vacation, Daddy will take you back to Shuangshui Village to pick up Qiaomai. Just like last year, we can go play somewhere else together, okay?"
Yingying immediately became happy, clapping her hands and saying, "Dad, do you keep your word?"
"Of course I keep my word. Daddy will never lie to anyone but my baby Yingying." Wei Lingcheng said as he kissed his daughter's tender little face.
Cheng Maixiang watched the father and daughter's affectionate interaction from behind. Seeing Lin Qingwan smiling slightly, she couldn't help but say to Lin Jiayu, "Jiayu, maybe in less than two months, big sister and Yingying will be able to move back home. I think Wei Lingcheng really loves big sister and Yingying."
