Chapter 121 You Come Up Too
Qiao Wanyin stared intently as the figure completely disappeared through the doorway.
His fingers tightened involuntarily, his nails digging deep into the rough iron edge of the porridge bucket.
My chest heaved violently, as if a flame was burning inside my lungs.
"Liu Piaopiao, you're too cruel!"
Her voice trembled, filled with suppressed anger and disappointment.
My chest felt like it had been branded with a hot iron, the pain was excruciating.
Anger and chills surged up her spine, making her fingertips tremble uncontrollably.
Just then, Kobayashi's panicked voice came through.
"Director Qiao, the child in bed number three is having even more seizures!"
Qiao Wanyin suddenly snapped back to her senses, suppressing her turbulent emotions deep inside.
Now is not the time to assign blame.
The most important thing right now is to save lives; everything else can be dealt with later.
She quickly got up and rushed towards the yard.
As soon as I stepped into the courtyard, I saw Tiger shaking violently, his limbs twitching uncontrollably.
Dr. Wang knelt beside him, pressing his hands desperately against Hu Zi's body, his voice trembling: "What should we do? Is this a poisoning reaction?"
"Get out of the way!"
Qiao Wanyin shouted sternly, her voice revealing an undeniable decisiveness.
She swiftly reached out and pulled open Tiger's collar to make sure he could breathe properly.
At the same time, quickly turn his head to one side to prevent vomit from flowing back into his trachea.
"Get me a chopstick! Quickly!"
She shouted loudly without looking up.
Someone nearby realized what was happening and immediately grabbed a clean chopstick from the stove and handed it to him.
Qiao Wanyin took the chopsticks and, without hesitation, pried open Hu Zi's clenched teeth with her hands, then stuffed them horizontally into his mouth to prevent him from biting his tongue during his convulsions.
Next, loosen Tiger's belt to relieve abdominal pressure.
They then raised his legs to help blood flow back to his brain.
As she worked, she kept asking urgently, "Is there any atropine left? Is there any left?"
Dr. Wang's voice was filled with regret and anxiety: "We just finished the last one... It was used when he had his first seizure, and now it's all gone!"
A flicker of anxiety crossed Qiao Wanyin's eyes, but the next second, she suddenly remembered something.
"Go to my office!"
She decisively ordered, "There's a metal box in the left drawer. Bring out all the syringes inside! Quickly!"
Those were emergency medications she secretly kept, only to be used in the most critical moments.
Among them were several atropine vials that were obtained with great difficulty from the system.
Whether Tiger can survive depends entirely on whether that box of medicine can be delivered in time.
These kinds of drugs are strictly controlled these days, so she has never dared to use them easily.
But right now, Tiger's life is in danger.
Time is life, and there is no room for hesitation.
Xiaolin took off running.
She walked through the crowd and returned a short while later carrying a small metal box.
The rusty iron box had always been carefully preserved.
Qiao Wanyin quickly took the small iron box and took out an atropine vial from it.
She skillfully used tweezers to pry open the neck of the medicine bottle and slowly drew out the clear liquid.
The liquid in the syringe, illuminated by the dim light, seemed like a glimmer of hope.
"Hold him down."
Her tone was crisp.
Before he could finish speaking, a needle had already accurately pierced Tiger's arm muscle.
After the medicine was administered, Tiger's convulsions gradually subsided.
The previously tense limbs gradually relaxed, and the breathing changed from rapid to steady.
Qiao Wanyin finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling completely exhausted.
She instinctively grabbed the table next to her, her fingertips trembling slightly.
It was only then that she realized her back was already soaked in cold sweat.
"Director Qiao, your technique..."
Dr. Wang's eyes widened, his tone filled with disbelief.
He had been watching Qiao Wanyin's actions the whole time.
Every step was quick, accurate, and steady, almost as good as a professional emergency doctor.
“I learned a little bit from the barefoot doctor when I was in the countryside.”
Qiao Wanyin replied casually, her tone indifferent.
She casually put the used syringe into the metal box and then stood up.
"Continue to pump the stomachs of children with mild symptoms while we wait for the ambulance from the military hospital to arrive. We can't delay; we need to prevent the toxins from spreading further."
She had just straightened up when she suddenly felt dizzy.
She instinctively grabbed the corner of the table to steady herself.
At that moment, a strong hand firmly supported her shoulder.
That hand carried a reassuring strength, pulling her back from the brink of exhaustion.
"Qingqing!"
The voice was so familiar that it sent a shiver down her spine.
Despite not having heard it for many years, the voice remained clear, carrying the unique fortitude and urgency of a military camp.
She turned her head and saw Fu Lian standing in front of her with a worried look on his face.
He was wearing a military uniform, the dust on his shoulders still clinging to him.
His forehead was covered in sweat; he had clearly rushed here with great effort.
"Why are you here...?"
Qiao Wanyin murmured, her voice somewhat hoarse.
"The regimental communications officer said something happened at the mutual aid center."
Fu Li'an quickly glanced at the scene, his brows furrowed. "I just finished an emergency meeting and rode here as soon as I heard the news. How are the children now?"
Qiao Wanyin pursed her lips into a thin line, and after a long while, she answered in a low voice: "It should be poisoning. So far, the symptoms are consistent: convulsions, vomiting, and confusion."
She paused, her voice a little strained, "There was laundry detergent mixed in the porridge I ate. Someone probably mistook it for flour and added it in."
Fu Li'an's eyes darkened, a hint of coldness flashing in them. "You ate the wrong thing?"
Qiao Wanyin did not answer directly, her voice was calm but tinged with urgency.
"The military hospital's ambulance will be here soon. It's urgent to get the children to the hospital first. We can't delay. The condition of each child is not optimistic."
Fu Li'an stared at her for a few seconds, as if trying to find clues to the truth.
Finally, he suppressed his surging emotions and nodded.
"I have already notified the regiment to send a vehicle for support, which will arrive within ten minutes. We cannot wait for the ambulance; we must act as quickly as possible."
Not long after, the sound of a horn came from afar, breaking the silence at the village entrance.
Three military trucks painted in green camouflage roared in, honking their horns.
Fu Li'an quickly stood in front of the vehicle and commanded the accompanying soldiers forcefully.
His instructions were clear and precise: "Be careful! Lift and place gently, don't let the child get jostled! This child has a high temperature, let him get on the bus first!"
The soldiers moved swiftly and carefully, lifting each child steadily onto the back of the truck.
Qiao Wanyin observed silently from the side.
Hu Zi, who was already in a semi-comatose state, was put in the back seat of the car that Fu Li'an was driving.
This detail stirred something within her.
"You come up too."
Fu Lian opened the passenger door, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Qiao Wanyin did not refuse and nodded silently.
The car door slammed shut, shutting out the noise from the outside world.
Tiger lay in the back seat, breathing weakly, his face so pale it was almost transparent.
His small head rested limply on Qiao Wanyin's lap, his forehead burning hot.
She would lean down every now and then to check if his pupils were reacting.
Fu Li'an watched her skillful and steady movements in the rearview mirror, a hint of barely perceptible admiration flashing across his brows.
"Qingqing, your technique is even more efficient than Dr. Wang's."
Qiao Wanyin didn't look up; her gaze remained fixed on Hu Zi's face.
"Someone wants to harm me."
